It’s so sad. He is such a classic narc duck-boy - his support/romance is entirely to make himself look good to others. Shallow. Vain. The subtle undermining/not showing up the way she does augments her desperation to make it work. She outshines him in the same arena so he will have to erode her.

Therapy is generally designed for the person to better understand themselves and their experiences. Not to ‘improve’ as a boyfriend. Makes me cringe when men or women use it as proof they are so empathetic/reflective. Actually narcs LOVE therapy - they talk about themselves and learn how to make excuses.
