Why is Lard Arse buying grapefruit spoons? Has he forgotten he is meant to be allergic to citrus?

Prolly because his grandparents owned some @Jeeves !!! :ROFLMAO: (Snorts allergies are a joke!) My grandmum had silver grapefruit spoons (they were a thing, apparently) and would make me broiled grapefruit with brown sugar for brekkie (it sounds odd, but was actually good.) But, when she passed and my mum asked if I wanted them, I politely declined. "Mum, I am that person who peels their grapefruit and eats it like an orange- don't send me things I will never ever use!"

Alas, Tattlers, I fear I may be on the receiving end of some crap, as my mum rang me yesterday to tell me her cousins dropped some of my recently departed great-aunts' "treasures" off at her house, and did I want her "pew-ah" pitcher and tray? (I was laughing so hard- "Mum, do you mean 'pewter'?" "That is what I said- pew-ah. What is wrong with you? Why is that funny? No matter, you will receive a large box in the post very soon, whether you like it or not.") While I have successfully managed to evade so many "precious family heirlooms" with smooth talking (looking at you, Hummel collection that has been split between my cousins' baby children), I couldn't stop laughing long enough to talk her out of it (and Mr. T Rex said I needed to get outside to help him move the boathouse furniture due to the storm surge.). SMH. I am doomed. I will now dread every post delivery!

I really think FRK goes out of her way to make Poo Desserts !
I think she should write a cooking book about them all and have Poo Boy Potts photograph them !
Best Poo Seller !!! 📖

Grilled grapefruit with brown sugar and sherry was very popular as a starter in the 70s, along with Boeuf Bourguignon, Coq au Vin, Black Forest Gateau, Fondue, Vol-au-vents, Rum Babas, Crepe Suzette, Prawn Cocktails helped down with Liebfraumilch (Blue Nun or Black Tower) or Mateus Rose! Nostalgic memories as very young newly wed! All served on my wedding present Denby Arabesque china! 🙄 (Not my choice, unknown to us my MiL told her friends and family that was what we should have!) I was always terrified using the coffee pot as I was sure I would knock it over.

Do you still have any or are they long gone?

I have the dinner service boxed up in the loft, where it's been for years - never broke anything! It was never really my taste. I preferred my Midwinter Spanish Garden set (which we did choose ourselves) which only has a few pieces remaining now - tea service is complete but over the years I've lost dinner plates, a casserole dish, a couple of cereal bowls.Daughter- likes the Denby set so I guess it will probably go to her at some point - she says when the grand-daughters have grown up!

I'm ready for all you interior decorators to roast me...
I'm considering this for my future bedroom...

I'm sort of in love with the idea of waking up / going to sleep among the clouds.

It's a cool idea. I'm on the fence though but only because clouds can be difficult to paint; you don't want it to turn out like Andy's room from Toy Story. Give it a go, worst thing that happens is you don't like it and paint over it.

It's becoming like a stuck record there, the same old trite over and over. Really stuffed for content, why?

Brrrrrrrrocont 🤦‍♀️

What idiot walks around a brocante shop in a wide brimmed hat.? Who ownes what looks to be an Ardmore type bag him or her as they both kept wearing it of are they matchy matchy and have one each.

Stupid comment of the vlog from Fanny 'I don't want to clutter up the place, when I'm trying to clear stuff' as she buys more.

Poor Sebastien and Manu, or maybe silly Sebastien and Manu telling Fanny where they're working. She can stalk them there now.

Bibble, bibble, bibble, squint, squint, twitch, twitch, whatever Hanni the principle boy was trying to say.

As usual late picking people up, dropping people off.

So what is really going on there.........with the gathering of the clan. Tat n Ton must be getting there soon.

Baghead part owner, doesn't take care of his sheep, does duck all about the place and just rakes in the dosh......another tosser.

Are we expecting the South African Gurner to turn up next for his freeload, he could have a competition with Hanni.

Is that a brand new Thermomix in the kitchen, has she replaced the previous? Having only just been on a presentation for one it looks like it. 1500.00 euros +

More napkins ZZZZZ tray liners ZZZZZ.........pompous arse

Marie........just serve the overpriced dinner and shut up.

I'm searching for a place in France to move to. How were the winters? Could a single, liberal, vegetarian guy be happy there? I was attracted to that area, but the summer heat and winter description in "A Year in Provence" scared me... so I've been searching NE France but now find myself drawn again to the south.
Peter Mayle wasn't wrong with his description of winter in hinterland Provençe. They are like another ice age but they are short and sharp. Winter starts in February and by mid March is done. The Provençal wind, le Mistral, is a true force of nature and not to be underestimated. However climate change has wrought its effect and now the winters are often wetter with serious flooding damage. It is not unusual for there to be snow but there is a "snowline". Peter Mayle was in the Luberon which has very lumpy, bumpy parts and quite high so can be prone to snow. When we lived in Provençe, we were in small town called Bargemon in the Var. This was in the "snowline" and we spent a very cold February there. A couple of months later we moved to another small town called Callas. It was less than 10km but it was outside the "snowline". That's the difference it makes. Obviously as you head inland from the coast and climb higher towards the Alpes d'haute Provençe the temperate climate changes. We very much liked the towns and villages just north and west of Draguinan. You're still within striking distance of the coast for spring, early summer and autumn but when the heat climbs you can turn inland and head for the lakes.

I don't know which part NE France you have been considering, I always think of the Grande Est when I hear north east France. They have incredibly hard, cold winters. We stopped in Strasbourg for the Christmas markets when the boy was a babe on the way home one year. I remember leaving and it felt like we were racing away from the cold the temperatures had dropped overnight so much and they were predicting -20°C in the coming days!

So I watched the latest vlog @Pekey. What a load of crap. I didn’t get the same vibes as you, just that Dan seemed a tadge bored and Snorts was being ignored a lot. There was definitely something amiss there. He was unusually quiet.

When Fanny got back from the Crispy Chateau to yet again sort crap out in the attic, she had a real treat in store for us. It was truly painful. Listening to her read her aged 8 essay out aloud 🙄🙄🙄
What a precocious child she must have been. Her poor classmates and Teacher. She must have been a bloody nightmare wanting all their attention all the time !
Then down she goes to the kitchen to shriek ‘sausages’, ‘chips’ !!!!!

Boy does she love the sound of her own voice.

Fanny, shut the f**k up
Good shot of a 90 year old. I agree: she was clearly as obnoxious a child as she is an adult.

We used to drink Black Tower Liebfraumilch. We stopped when Mr GM found out the makers were caught adding coolant (glycol) to the wine.

We were also given a Johnson's stoneware dinner set in a brown and oatmeal colour way by mother in law. It had belonged to her late brother.
As a newly wed I was grateful but I hated it. The wretched stuff was indestructible.

That Denby was really something at the end of the1960s! I just had an ashtray even though I didn't smoke, it was all I could afford! At the time, all the new designs looked wonderful. I loved going into the Bristol Guild of Applied Art when I was a student! It was all so different from what had gone before, and design wise, it was very exciting.

I had some Midwinter coffee cups and a coffee pot: white with blue and green designs. I loved them!

Oh Jeeves we are of a similar vintage. Sounds like my story except my Denby service was Gypsy (the pink flowers on a natural stone wear background). We still have it but rarely use it as it is just too thick for the dishwasher. Whilst in Sainsburys the other day I grabbed a bottle of Mateus Rose for old times sake as a friend from back then was coming round. We drank it but I think I’ll stick to the fresher glorious roses that are now readily available.

the face on it when asked to something simple shes pissed, because shes all dressed up to play mlady for the guest dinner priced for her appearance.View attachment 3095194 q
She had that dress on during the day to roam around Dan's dusty building site and climb up on the roof and then didn't change before the guest dinner. She thinks she looks sexy for Dan and the guests. In reality, with the scraped back hair, she looks ancient and ridiculous!

Do you remember table lamp bases, made with Mateus Rosé bottles?!

If I never saw the inside of another Brocante, I wouldn't be upset.....
meanwhile, Philly over at Chateau Life is STILL talking about what has to be done and NOT showing us him doing it. He doesn't really get this vlogging malarky does he.
NO HE DOESN'T! With a ruddy great chateau in the background where no one ever goes, he stands outside & uses as content the grounds he has neglected all year & now needs to de-tangle for some mega party that he swore in previous endless vlogs he would never have - he gives off Gatsby vibes - is he hoping Angelina will turn up?
@Jeeves - not sure about that dark, chunky dinner service but hey, good idea to find it a nice home in the attic - .going for Welsh in the '70's,Portmeirion Botanical Garden is so iconic & still going strong. Oh Mateus Rosé, wave of nostalgia even now - first wine - first boyfriend - Spanish restaurant in London -16 at the time (I know, teens of16 today are on another planet). You should keep the menu as social history.

Gosh, the Olympics Shooting events are just 40 minutes north of the shitoo at the Chateauroux Shooting Centre.
Do you think the Turkish hitman would be interested in some Snorty squirrel target practice?

We could start a go fund me...

That guy has to be the coolest of the Olympians this year. No paraphernalia. No bullshit. Just bam bam I'm done

Oh my goodness, I had forgotten Mateus Rose. Mr GM's aunt was a very strict Methodist who didn't drink. Whenever we went to their place for dinner she served Mateus Rose. It was the only alcohol she found 'acceptable'.

I remember them being used as candle holders with lots and lots of old wax dripped down the sides. Awful.
