Ollie doesn't look too good, despite his diet and exercise. I wonder how happy he and Camilla actually are. They are very different; she seems obsessed by exercise, and appearances. Ollie still has his jaw/mouth nervous tic which now seems to be constant whereas it was only occasional in the past. He is probably unwise to focus the camera on his face so much as he seems to be doing it all the time now. Perhaps he over-shared his mental health problem. At least, the friends' travel channel seems to have finished so that, at least, will be good fir him.

The travel vlog with SJ was dreadful. It’s a great shame he ever embarked on that particular mission. Completely led astray by his “muse”! He and Camilla doing the same sort of thing together might actually have created some YT legs - once they settled into it, and Camilla relaxed on camera, they were both infinitely better at the whole presentation malarkey. A few of their vlogs were really good and I took in what was being said about wherever it was they were. Unlike Stephanie, who regurgitates cod history while gesticulating with crazed theatrical semaphore. So distracting.

My husband's family had border collies and kelpies on their farms . . . they are intelligent, loving, active and loyal working dogs. They are unsuited to urban, domestic environments unless their owner is committed, otherwise their behaviour can become problematic.

Neither Philip nor Stephanie would be prepared to put the effort into responsible border collie ownership.
I don't disagree. My point was, they are intense, they never stop. Lap dogs they are not.

A suggestion for your friend. Rather than use a frisbee try one of these things. A ball chucker, much easier on the poor dog's mouth.

Again, what's with Hanni?

That whole staged scene in the laundry, Stephanie says action and Isabelle starts running around like a demented loon. Then Hanni in the corridor, the elf's overacting for god's sake, it was so cringeworthy . . . they're all a bunch of fruit loops.
Oh Gertrude please... The point was the breed is intense. Obviously she doesn't throw the toys till the dogs bleed. She's a farmer and her husband is a Vet. Don't worry about her dogs. Jensen and Jarvis would never keep the dog busy or happy.

I agree although I do think a lot of the discomfort he displayed could be put down to the excessive heat as he walked around the old town. I know Girona and where he walked and at midday in July it is hard going. Also he didn’t appear to have any water with him which is very stupid considering the distance he covered. I can’t say whether their marriage is in trouble but I would err on the side of no. Ollie definitely needs a strong person to guide him through life and Camilla is that, and for her to take the trouble to ensure that he eats decently and no longer has any unhealthy processed food, to me shows me that she cares as she is happy to support him. But hey who knows what does go on between them. I hope for his sake I am right as I like Ollie, I think he is kind and an annimal lover, just as long as he keeps away from anyone connected to that shithole he should be ok. But as the South African gurner was at their house last month that doesn’t seem likely. Keep your distance Ollie protect yourself and your family.

I have my moments!

If it was Marie-Henri Charles who drowned, poor little mite, and he was Henri the ghost’s earthly being , one would hope the ghost of a 7 1/2 year old is a benign presence!

I came across a bit of an anomaly about the chapel ages ago which I’d forgotten about until today. Stephanie’s lengthy spiel about the chapel’s history is slightly at odds with what the Crozon-sur-Vauvre website says about Ch. de Lalande (quelle surprise!). Which, I wonder, is closest to the truth?!

Crozon sur Vauvre website spiel about Ch. de Lalande:

“Of the feudal-type castle, all that remains is the imposing building of the east wing, located between the two square towers and the moat. The lords of Lande had it built towards the end of the 1570s near a large pond. It consisted of two buildings with several floors, the central body of which forming a facade, was framed by high square pavilions, crowned with machicolations and topped with pointed roofs.
The current castle was rebuilt after the fire, around 1860, as well as the chapel by Alice-Victurnienne de Rougé, widow of François-Charles, marquis de Nadaillac [who died in 1886].”

The property was divided in 2005 and an English family is the proud owner of the castle. During the renovation of the chapel, she was able to discover “the boiler room” which allowed very pious marquises to spend long hours in prayer even during cold weather!”

The Ch. de Lalande website spiel about the chapel from the sponsor a star palaver

The Chapel of Saint Joseph at Lalande was built in 1865 after the tragic death of Charles de Nadaillac, the five year-old son of the Marquis and Marquise de Nadaillac, who drowned in the chateau's ancient moat. Charles' deeply religious parents spared no expense in the building and decorating of this neo-gothic jewel. They called on the finest artisans from Toulouse, whose letters to the Marquis still remain at the chateau. Joseph Engaliere was commissioned to decorate the walls of the chapel, and he covered every square inch in lavish patterns, highlighted with real gold.

Joseph Engaliere was a well-known artist in his own lifetime, decorating many public buildings and chateaux near Toulouse, but - as he specialised in interior design - almost all of his work has been lost. The Chapel of Saint Joseph is a rare survivor teetering on the edge of disappearing forever if we don't act now.

The chapel was consecrated by the Archbishop of Bourges in 1866. It was regularly in use for the next 100 years. The local priest used to stay at the chateau once a week before giving mass in the chapel, and the Marquise used to teach catechism to the local children of the parish in the chapel. Even up to the sale of the Chateau de Lalande to Stephanie, Nic and Michael in 2005, the chapel was used by two of the current Marquis' siblings who were both priests.

The first thing Stephanie did when moving to Lalande was to re-roof the chapel, to prevent any further deterioration. Then, all of the stained glass windows were restored, one by one, whenever funds could be found.

In 2022 new problems came to light, and the chapel was deemed unstable, with its iconic star-covered ceiling at risk of collapse.

Because of the support of the patrons of The Chateau Diaries, over €200,000 has been set aside to secure the structure of the chapel and to repair the missing vault and the fresco of the Death of Saint Joseph. The paintwork restorers are specialists who have also worked at the Chateau de Versailles and are currently restoring the Catherdral of Notre Dame in Paris.

Another €200,000 is needed to complete the restoration of the chapel and to bring it back to its former splendour to save it.”
Seeing as Marie-Henri Charles died in 1840 and the chapel wasn't built for another 25 years, I doubt Marie-Henri is the boy who drowned... unless the Nadaillacs were just as lazy, unorganized, and prone to procrastination as Fanny.

Oh duck off Brenda and go and join the rest of them in the coven.

Is Hanni auditioning for a Gurning competition?

I'm searching for a place in France to move to. How were the winters? Could a single, liberal, vegetarian guy be happy there? I was attracted to that area, but the summer heat and winter description in "A Year in Provence" scared me... so I've been searching NE France but now find myself drawn again to the south.

It's not that bad over here on the West.

Not too hot, not too cold, not too rainy.

Short Winters.

👇Hanni Ross has been involved with, The Chateau Diaries, longer than Philip Janssen.

Fellow hags and hellhounds, respectively, please remember that we cannot discuss or speculate about Hanni Ross's employment status, sexual orientation, or whether patron funds are supporting her cocaine habit. Thank you for your consideration.

You'd be walking around that place constantly looking over your shoulder waiting for her to jump out at you.

Freaks, all of them in one form or another.
There was a girl in junior high school like Hanni who had a crush on me. She'd write my name on the slate bathroom wall in clear nail polish -- it looked like permanent marker -- so I'd get the lash. She'd steal my flute and scuttle down the hall like a bat out of hell. It ended because she could not get me into trouble (I recognized her handwriting on the wall of the bathroom and told the principal so) and I was not interested in smootching her. I think Hanni is the born female version of Pheeph and has the hots for Fanny, big time. I think there has been actually some encouragement and contact in the past, otherwise why would she keep coming around to be tortured by the gruesome twosome? God they're vile. Go home, Hanni, many much better women you could find out here, weird as you are.

Heck, is that Kirsty on the left in front of the crumbling fascade.
I can't tell. I looked at the image and didn't recognise her. Looking again, I don't think it's Kirsty.

Ah! The woman who made soaps. Thank you KiKiGee 😊 💓.

I didn't either. William Morris isn't a good fit for the style of their chateau.
Why is that wallpaper familiar? Is it a really common William Morris design?
