I agree with you. I just rewatched and she doesn’t have anything slip to indicate who it was, but considering how Anne Marie looked I am thinking it was his friend and another doing the flue. There’s lots of ways to fall on a roof, and they were using a massive Cherry picker. Also, he was around quite a lot working so they’ve gotten to know him, the chapel workers just showed up that day, so they don’t know them yet. She said they went to the funeral, which might be kind of weird if you didn’t know the people. Having said that, would Brits choose to be buried in France or England? Nathan might have had a French worker and he died. I don’t know.
And I agree with you and @graciemckitten

Within 30 seconds of her vlog she is showing the chapel, standing (albeit leaning towards the woods), but no part of it crumbling from the outside, as so many of us have thought would be the case. And she shows the chapel restorers working and comments that the chapel restorers are putting up the scaffolding. Even if that is from days before the accident, it's there in this video for a reason. She wouldn't have shown the chapel at all if the accident had been there. If there was this big investigation, NOTHING would be moving from anywhere near that building, not a bit of work would be happening there, unless the investigation was wrapped up - at least that's how it would be here in the US. Why show the building AT ALL, unless she's trying to tell people the chapel is o.k.?

As mentioned, Amaury seemed quite upset right before Maria started playing. Maria said she was playing the piece because "it was a really nice piece" and "would be a comfort for us and for you". That was the point that Stephanie inserted the pic of Amaury, his dog and Nati with her arm stretched out to him. Amaury was heavily involved with working with the heating guys. This is not to say he would not have empathy for anyone who had an accident, but I think the reaction we're seeing from him alludes to him being involved in some way - he may have witnessed the tragedy and because he knew everyone really well from the heating company, I think this is why his reaction to this seems more authentic than Stephanie's. I also believe this was being filmed for Channel 4. There would be no reason for Channel 4 to stop filming - let alone, not even show ANY Christmas episode from any chateau (as Stephanie alluded to) on Channel 4 - if the work had happened outside, near the chapel, which wasn't being filmed. But if the work happened inside the chateau, there would be a reason to not film, because everything has to be left 'as is' until the investigation is wrapped up. I think Channel 4 was there for this accident. Their film will be invaluable to any investigation going on.

So…in the US, if someone is injured or dies as a result of an injury that occurred on your property, the homeowner is potentially liable for any medical expense or damages (paid to the injured person… or their estate in case of death). Reputable licensed contractors should carry their own insurance in case of an accident. Or, the homeowner’s insurance would pay the expense…unless the property owner doesn’t have insurance. In that case, the property owner could be sued directly. Does anyone know…Is that how it works in France? Could Fanny be in big trouble?

to be a bit clinical after such a tragedy, the chapel is probably not tall enough to fall from and cause such major injuries, whereas the chateau roof and chimneys are much higher up.
Something makes it even sadder because SJ is only putting heating in for the vlog. Ditto if it was the chapel - an historically insignificant chapel being restored for a vlog. Makes someone's death seem such a hollow waste of a life.

Oh man. That poor contractor and his family. A nightmare for all involved.
I wonder who was responsible enough at the dump to call for an ambulance?

I hope Fanny has homeowners insurance. No matter if the contractor carried his own insurance ( I never hire anyone for work who isn't self insured for his trade), litigation will be sure to follow against ol'Fanny.
Who was it? She was careful to say ‘outside contractor’. Awful news. Chapel or heating guys?

True....and here's a piece of advice for any of you here in the US. If you have a contractor come to your house, obviously vet them, make sure they have good references, insurance, etc. But also ask about who will be in charge, on site, while the work is being done. If you, as the homeowner, take on the role of "general contractor" - which can mean checking on them 50 times a day, telling them how to do their work, you have assumed that role of general contractor and you will most definitely become liable if a suit is placed after a serious accident.

One of my neighbors had this happen to him. Some friend of a friend of a friend (read that as "fly by night") came to do some work on their roof and didn't have a fricking ladder high enough to reach the roof. My neighbor said "here, use mine"........when this guy stepped on one of the rungs, it broke off and the guy fell (he didn't fall more than 5 or 6 feet). Luckily, not seriously injured, but enough that he couldn't work for three or four weeks while his leg healed. And he sued my neighbor for compensation, my neighbor's homeowners insurance covered it, but if my neighbor hadn't let him use HIS ladder, the insurance company wouldn't have paid out.

Don't lend your tools to contractors! And don't micro-manage them, either!

Love the dog’s expression when Fanny was talking to it.
‘I don’t trust her ‘his eyes say.

She was very hesitant to stroke him. Did completely the wrong move going in over his face/head. I was waiting to see if he was going to either growl as before or try to nip. He knows she's no animal lover. He just doesn't have that puppy look about him, perhaps that breed doesn't.
