I really wanted a Sinner Alcaraz final with a Sinner win, caught half the third set on my lunch break and thought he was gonna come back from it. Hopefully Medvedev can do what needs to be done, can’t stand the idea of Zverez being in the final🙏
 
Well, congrats Novak on your, what, 11th AO title then.
I love Sinner and Medvedev but don’t see either of them winning here. Surely Daniil is completely exhausted at this point, with all the five setters he’s got in him.

A Zverev-Djokovic final is on the same level as the Kyrgios-Djokovic Wimbledon final: unwatchable and best to forget asap

Honestly, I can’t stand the man but if I were him, I’d keep playing too. He can break all the records into unreachable numbers, he has no real competition. The players he came up with and who were actually better than him are all gone from the game. There is a whole gen in between that never really got anywhere. And the new gen is too inexperienced compared to him and still has way too much respect to really beat him regularly. It’s depressing. But good for Novaxx, who all his career has been lucky to avoid major injuries. He can do this three more years. Or more.

I wish the women's game wasn't so inconsistent. In their QFs half were unseeded and they had a qualifier, in the men's all the QF'ists were seeded. It's hard for them to build up a fan base. The WTAs commitment to equal prize money despite making about half the revenue is sending it on a path to ruin. Their plan to make them play more to fix their black hole is very misguided.

Equal prize money drives me mental!

It’s not equal at all. The women are being paid a preferential rate, because they only play 3/5 of what the men play. If they’re paid the same, they should play the same.

It goes back to the time when women were regarded as too ‘delicate’ for vigourous or lengthy sporting activities. In recent years many female players (possibly going back as far as Billie Jean King) have been pushing to play five sets, which I too would prefer because a five-set match is potentially much more interesting as there is more capacity for the momentum to swing back and forth, whereas in a three-set match, once you’ve won two sets that’s it, there’s no chance of a comeback from your opponent.
However tournament organisers have refused, on the basis that they haven’t got the scheduling capacity to host longer matches for the women. 😡
 
Five sets are only being played at the slams, no? And seeing the scheduling problems those tournaments already have, I have to agree with those organisers. Or they will have to have the men and women play during different weeks.
By the way, the argument that women should earn less because they don’t work as hard as men is the same that is used in every job that doesn’t give equal pay. So basically almost every job on the planet. A woman working to the best of her physical abilities should earn less because a man can achieve more based on his physical abilities? Nah.

It's annoying they still keep saying this line. Lazy. They could re-organise to make time, or only do 5 sets for the last few rounds, or do a tie breaker as a 5th set. Loads of things they could do and they need to do something. The WTA will have burnt through all the cash they got from selling off part of their company in a few years then what?

The scheduling at many of the slams and masters is often awful. They could adjust the tickets for an earlier start instead of doing silly stuff like starting at 1pm even though they know it's going to rain in ten minutes and everything will be suspended.
