they had Brian Cox on the HBO podcast and he was at pains to say that Logan absolutely loves his children. I have to say, I donā€™t see it. He screws them over, he plays them off against each other, he lies to them, he puts them down, he misses one of their weddings, he hits a grandchild, he turns their mother against them. What is it about his behaviour that demonstrates ā€œloveā€ in any way?!

What am I missing? Maybe he thinks he loves them, but actually is just incapable of it, so assumes that some sort of proximity or paying them any attention at all equates to love.

There have been hints that Logan and Ewan suffered a highly abusive childhood, including the unexplained death of their sister that raised questions of ā€˜blameā€™, therefore Logan himself was a damaged child and his understanding of ā€˜loveā€™ is likely to be skewed.

FWIW, I do think he loved them, but he was fucked up by his own childhood. Trauma cascades down through families and can take generations to heal.

Quite off topic but yesterday I had a fun game of duck, Marry, Kill with my H (as Roman played when hostage with Laird and Karl) - the main cast or just the Roys and plus ones to make it difficult ā˜ŗ

And I know no-one will ask but mine are - duck Stewie, marry Tom and kill nearly everyone else Logan

stewie is high key šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ”„ i love whenever he appears, for so many reasons.

personally i would duck shiv (i feel like it would be good šŸ¤£ and sheā€™s gorgeous), marry connor and kill kerry!

I do think Logan loves his kids but it's a conditional love. Sadly for his kids, they never meet his conditions.

I also don't think Tom loved Shiv, cared for her but not loved. I don't think he would have dated her if she wasn't Logan's daughter.

My bets are: Ken commits suicide, Shiv is pregnant and steps away from the family with Tom.

Edit: I do think Jeremy Strong is a pretentious twit but, yeah, Cox doesn't come across as the warmest person šŸ˜…

I didn't know about Jeremy's method acting! Off to Google...

He stays in character the whole time and distances himself from the rest of the cast. He does seem like a very intense, serious guy but at the end of the day heā€™s there to do a job and he does it well, so I donā€™t think it matters.

I also read on Reddit about the suicide thing- who knows if itā€™s true or a red herring!

What the actual šŸ¤£

So Iā€™m a long time Kara Swisher fan. I listened to the HBO podcast and thought Brian Cox came across a bit of a dick. He was quite dismissive at some point and overall made me feel that he didnā€™t want to do this interview.

I then listened to this weekā€™s Leading, where Brian Cox was interviewed by Alastair Campbell. They discussed Succession amongst other things. Brian Cox came across like a complete different person. Very pleasant, loves Scotland, very chatty.

Kara Swisher is a very good interviewer but I couldnā€™t tell if she dropped the ball on this one or if Brian Cox was being difficult with her.

edit to add: Brian Cox is a lifelong Labour supporter until the Iraq war, then he became a bit of a nationalist. He talked about this and socialism on the Leading podcast which I highly recommend. Just wanted to point this out as someone mentioned above that Cox is right leaning.

I was saving up season 4 for a binge watch until I got the partial spoiler of a ā€˜shock deathā€™, and there was only one person that could be, so decided to catch up today.
Amazing episode, even though as soon as it started to kick off over the phone I initially hated it.. not like this, itā€™s too soon, itā€™s not the right way to end Loganā€™s story. But it was realistic and so well done. The bit that got me was actually Shiv initially saying ā€˜Mom?ā€™ and her saying after that she was thinking Dad but said Mom and maybe actually had hoped it was her mother instead of her father. I felt that.

Amazing episode.

Jeremy and Sarah need to submit for Emmy noms. Kieran too, but he's probably better going for supporting, unless there's a really strong Roman episode coming up. Obsessed with Matthew being in the UK while it was filmed and having to deliver news that someone's pretend dad is dead in the middle of the night in the spare room šŸ˜‚

Connor getting his 'happy' ending is great. Willa seems happy enough, and I'm glad she was honest. Can't help but think that the duck you wedding on the day of his billionaire father's death is going to recruit a few Conheads and put Connor up a couple of percentage points, potentially leaving the presidential candidate Logan had chosen fucked.

How can this be the case when you see him on the plane with everyone else?

I didnā€™t know this! So were the scenes on the plane shot separately?
Yes, plane was shot separately on a soundstage.

The 27 minute long one shot scene of the siblings on a boat was done with Matthew dialling in from London. Had to Wambsgans from the spare room šŸ˜‚

Part of Jerry Halls divorce settlement agreement was that she couldnā€™t give storylines to Succession, I love it.
The Vanity Fair article shows how much the show really is close to the bone

Inside Rupert Murdochā€™s Succession Drama

With the $1.6 billion Dominion lawsuit threatening to hobble Fox News, the ink on his divorce to Jerry Hall still wet, and his broken engagement to Ann Lesley Smith even fresher, itā€™s been a chaotic 12 months for the 92-year-old conservative media baron. As Fox and family insiders tell it, this could just be the beginning.
