I know I was speaking about this with @LaBlonde on the white lotus thread but…

i absolutely get sarah - she is the lead of this show and i also think it’s her year to (finally) win something.

kieran i would worry for. he’s amazing, but lead puts him up against jeremy (for a start) not to mention the other competition in lead actor. i personally would have stayed in supporting if i were him, i know he’s up against matthew macfadyen then but i think he gets better odds.

I agree Kieran isn’t really the “main” for me in terms of actors. I assume Brian will be in supporting this year considering the last episode?

brian could even submit for “guest actor” tbh with how much he was actually in this series, which would be amazing thinking because he would surely get it and free up another supporting actor space for someone else on the show.

like we were saying in the other thread, white lotus is sure to get acting noms now it’s been moved to drama so i would say they have to be smart on how/where they submit. but it’s also the final ever season so i think the emmys will want to give them some love!

Matthew McFadyen is masterclass to watch, such a tough call. Hope they sweep all the categories they are in. (I should probably watch some of the other programmes/actors too, I have no idea about a lot of them being mentioned!)

I think the white lotus has a very similar tone to Succession, Barry too has a lot of dark humour. Not really current but Veep is perfect if you like Succession too I think

Lots of talk in reviews about there being some kind of “twist” in episode 4 and some mention Kendall. I wonder what it could be? Based on the episode descriptions for episodes 4,5 and 6 he is still working with the siblings

Much as I love Kieran’s acting in this Jeremy has always stolen the show for me and has been positioned as more of the lead, if there is one. It will be very interesting to see how the rest of the season pans out in terms of the character arcs and how much they have to do as actors.

When I watched the mid-season trailer, the opening image of Kendall made me think that he’s had an addiction relapse (I’d actually forgotten about his addiction issues until I saw him looking so dreadful), so maybe something to do with that?

Yes, I got a really bad feeling about him from that trailer that I didn’t get for Shiv or Roman. He’s been suicidal before, hasn’t he? And he seems to have lost touch with his ex/kids. He doesn’t seem to have anyone or anything positive in his life

I thought that bit with Kendall in the sea in the trailer really called back to his previous “episode” on the lilo…and the death at the wedding too, of course. All watery disasters.

Its so hard to draw out any one actor as being the best- the acting is universally flawless. I found ep 3 a tough watch, as it touched on themes that are raw for me, but it was an absolute masterpiece. Imagine having to act it! Jeremy Strong is method, too, so must have been gruelling. Sarah Snook is apparently more on the Meryl end and can step out of character easily to recuperate between takes. The Succession podcast has the director & showrunner talking about how they did it, which is fascinating.

Such good, good telly!

Also, unpopular opinion about the Nicholas Braun allegations. He's innocent until proven guilty. Have we learnt nothing since the Amber-Depp trial?

I also think DeuxMoi and other online gossip websites/profiles post speculation and they never apologize for people planting false stories. I don't support Nicholas Braun but I'd like to hear both sides of the story.

I would really like Brian Cox, Kieran Culkin and J. Smith-Cameron to win an Emmy. Everyone else such as Mathew and Jeremy have won an Emmy and other accolades.

i forgot about that golden globe she and brian cox won the same year - i think the only people really without a major acting award from the core cast are j.smith-cameron and alan ruck (who i think deserves more love in general!) aside from the ensemble sag ones. not counting nicholas braun here as, as much as i like him in the show, he is basically playing himself

I agree I really hope Alan Ruck, J. Smith Cameron and Peter Friedman (Frank) are recognized this year. Alan's performance in Season 4, Episode 2 broke me.

I'm so glad I got the jist of what happened in that ep before I watched it. I'm usually annoyed when I accidentally see a spoiler but glad I was prepared as it was super close to home.

The whole tension of them just not believing he's dead and and no one actually just telling then straight was heartbreaking!

i think it showed aswell how much kerry only really existed when logan was around and now he's gone she's nothing and has absolutely 0 connections to anything. Even colin logans driver seemed lost at the end just staring at the plane and not really knowing what to do with himself. I suppose he is in the same boat.
