I think I may be in a minority here because as much as I love Jeremy (I really do), Kieran is another cut above for me. Kieran and Matthew are my top two, without a doubt - I’d struggle to pick between them, it probably changes from episode to episode 😅

Same! They are both such great actors. I really hope Kieran wins an Emmy for his role.

I'd highly recommend watching this. He has some exciting hobbies!

I think he loves her but she has done so many fucked io things - affair, open relationship proposal after they’ve got married, basically ignoring him. I’m looking forward to their fight on the balcony soon when she says “you’re a snake” to him and he says “you have hurt me more than you could possibly imagine”

Tom is my favourite.

He is a slimy, snobby, arse licker who has shown he has a ruthless streak. He is also very funny.

For the record I think he genuinely loves Shiv.

same! i think he’s always loved her, in a completely genuine way that she doesn’t know how to work with because who in her life has really loved her like that?

sarah snook gave a really interesting answer to the question “does shiv love tom?” which i now cannot find, but she believes that shiv loves him, but just doesn’t know how to express that love. i thought it was really interesting how when he hugged her in this ep she brought up her clasped hands between them.

They’re all so broken, none of them know how to love properly

they had Brian Cox on the HBO podcast and he was at pains to say that Logan absolutely loves his children. I have to say, I don’t see it. He screws them over, he plays them off against each other, he lies to them, he puts them down, he misses one of their weddings, he hits a grandchild, he turns their mother against them. What is it about his behaviour that demonstrates “love” in any way?!

What am I missing? Maybe he thinks he loves them, but actually is just incapable of it, so assumes that some sort of proximity or paying them any attention at all equates to love.

I think like most narcissistic people, Logan sees them as an extension of himself and confuses that for love. They can't live up to his expectations which is why he is frustrated and doesn't see them as serious people. Just listened to the podcast, I love Brian Cox he's one of a kind and hilarious. He loves the show but never watched it, he just loves to be doing it. What a legend.

i’ve heard him say that a few times and i can’t say i see it much either! i don’t think we saw him show genuine affection to any of them.

i think you’re completely right that he thinks he loves them, or maybe he does love them but simply cannot show it. we know he’s from a violent home (i wonder if they’ll ever fully explain the scars on his back or what happened to his sister now), has been unable to have functioning relationships with anyone in his life really…

he set impossible expectations on his children in that he always wanted them to prove him wrong or surprise him but he’d also apparently given them no real business skills and then it was their “fault” when he always won and so they always inevitably disappointed him. a vicious circle all round! they’re a product of his making but he just could never see it or want to change.

i wonder if connor is softer/gentler because of his mother, but we know so little about her too (other than it was heavily implied that she’d been institutionalised).

Yeah, that could be right Nadia, but I then thought, well if Brian Cox thinks that’s love, is he maybe more Logan than he thinks?? Like he can’t portray love because he doesn’t feel it either. I didn’t enjoy his segment that much, I think he came off quite arrogant and dismissive. He’s a terrific actor, but as a human being, I’m less sure…

But then, he’s working with the script he’s given and I don’t see where the love is there, either.

I think the scars on his back may well have a lot to do with it, LaBlonde, but I doubt that we’ll ever get the full story, Jesse Armstrong doesn’t work like that! We can speculate.

i don’t think we’ll ever get the full story either! i think we can piece some things together but i so wanted to know what the story with rose (i think that was his sister’s name anyway) was.

i have to agree that he (brian cox) does come across as a little dismissive. i remember reading a nicholas braun interview where he said no acting was required for his scenes with logan as he was genuinely intimidated by him, which i could definitely agree with! i think he’s been in the business a long time and this is just another (really good) job for him. he certainly doesn’t buy into emotional questions! just saw the sky one where they ask for one of his favourite moments on set and he says “when they say wrap” or something 🤣

That's a good point, makes you wonder if Logan and Brian are similiar. I think they are in the sense they are old school/right wing leaning and snowflake hating! Still love Brian though and think his straight shooting is funny in the sense people don't know how to take it 🤣

got to say I’ve gone off Brian with his hating on Jeremy Strong’s method acting and defending JK Rowling, so maybe he is more Logan!

I do think Logan loves his kids but it's a conditional love. Sadly for his kids, they never meet his conditions.

I also don't think Tom loved Shiv, cared for her but not loved. I don't think he would have dated her if she wasn't Logan's daughter.

My bets are: Ken commits suicide, Shiv is pregnant and steps away from the family with Tom.

Edit: I do think Jeremy Strong is a pretentious twit but, yeah, Cox doesn't come across as the warmest person 😅

Brian Cox was very generous to all the rest of the cast and crew, in his defence, and he’s at the top of his game, so has more cause than most for supreme confidence. I don’t mind a bit of straight shooting (or JKR defending 😬) . I just don’t think I’d like him if I met him, which must break his heart of course 😂

And of course, nobody says “ah, duck off” like him. That alone is enough.

roman takes all?

lots of people theorising Kendall’s suicide how many times can this mf be suicidal!!!
people on Reddit say they witnessed Jeremy jumping in to a river during a filming session. This doesn’t mean he dies, but definitely tries! With the news about Brian filming fake scenes to throw people off the scent though, this could be fake. Will kendall make it to his dad’s funeral?
