I detest RR and think PTSD is probably an overstatement here. But her marriage broke down publicly on the show, she was exposed as a terrible dancer and had her insecurities put on show etc. I don’t think it’s out of the question that it left her with a lot of bad memories, even if she did marry Pasha.

Posting this (a) because the top pic of FR and Laura is hilarious and (b) it’s quite damning to see it all laid out. The pattern is clear: aggressive training style, tears, clashes. And post-Rose, absolutely untouchable

He's winning that "favourite strictly professional" poll they're running on the page by some distance, 30% and the next highest is Johannes at 18%, then it drops down to 6%. Of course, for better or worse, the article is about Giovanni and I wouldn't have clicked on it without you linking it here.

I absolutely take your point, but I still don’t believe her. I think she thought she was going to be much better on Strictly than she was, and she was embarrassed.
I think she’s using PTSD to describe her embarrassment in the same way that people who like their kitchen to be clean and tidy claim they have OCD. It completely belittles and makes light of the condition and the people who genuinely suffer from it.

I get the impression that none of Gio partners weren’t willing to work hard, they just wanted to be treated with a bit of kindness and encouragement. As we have said before on here Jo Jo in his book admits when he first started on the South African version that he went too tough but realised and asked for advice.
The thing I find interesting about Gio is he doesn’t hide who is but his fans seem to ignore some aspects or make up excuses. I remember a podcast he did over lockdown basically saying he pretends happy families on Strictly it is like any other workplace where you just have to get on with colleagues. Then he basically admitted that he uses insta as a dating app.

I understand it must have been difficult for her, particularly with her marriage ending but at the end of the day she signed up for the show. Plenty of celebs have been worse than her, and taken it on the chin and laughed about it. It comes across as extremely thin skinned. I get she’ll have bad memories, but ptsd is extreme and I think she’s just jumping on the bandwagon for a few stories.

Even though the judging is a lot more benign than it used to be … some of the comments from Craig and Arlene in the early series wouldn’t fly now …

A case in point being Craig telling Rachel R, after her salsa, that she was ‘about as sexy as a slug wriggling around in some salt’.

Being insulted like that, and expected to laugh along with it, on live tv in front on millions of people,
after making your best effort at something you have limited experience or natural aptitude for, isn’t what people sign up for.

I have no particular opinion on RR one way or the other, or any knowledge about her mental health, but I don’t doubt that humiliating comments such as the above are hard to brush off.

Anyway, it’s an old story that’s just been dragged up for clicks given the Gio stuff; RR said this years ago.

TBF to her (can’t believe I’m saying this about Numbers witch) she made those comments in 2021, long before FR was unmasked.

And if we have good scores at the end, I do look back and say, ‘I’ve done a great job

That about sums it up, really. It’s not about you, Gio. Interesting that really the only one not to have had an issue at some point with his training methods is a former prima ballerina who probably thinks he’s a bit soft, really.

That's what I always think. At the end of the day, not many are natural dancers. They work bloody hard and tbh they impress me, when they come out there and do something that is in some cases, very far removed from their day job.

And even for those in the public eye, say actors, tv presenters, and so on, it still has to be quite a challenge to get out on that dance floor and perform in front of the live audience, the judges and the tv audience.

For what the judges are being paid, they should be encouraging them, and explaining how to improve certain things, in order to increase their scores. Not seeking to undermine them, looking for cheap laughs, and being all over the place as regards scoring.

I don't have a Fail subscription (lol) but it seems FR is coming back. No surprise there I guess. It'll be who he gets that is the big question
As if the only post with any credibility is behind a paywall. If anyone has a subscription please share what it says!
Just saw on instagram that Chloe Hewitt got engaged a few days ago so congrats to her! Still don't know why strictly dumped her without getting a partner...
Also, I remembered Traitors on tour the other day and I am still waiting on a full video from Neil. Maybe he'll only release it if he gets a partner next year? :ROFLMAO:

This should work.

Given the way The BBC operates and the way they've backed people before (obviously not comparing Gio with certain others), it's no surprise that they're backing the wrong horse here. But I trust that justice will prevail. This has a whiff of the Ola Jordan exit about it - has a bad partnership and gets involved in a scandal, a lot of back and forth on whether they'll return, is somehow invited back for the next series, plays nice (barely) and then is gone instantly when the series is done. Both Ola & Gio will have done 10 years as well.

Though even Ola had multiple partners defending her, the FR doesn't even seem to have that other than Debbie and Rose.

I wouldn’t hold your breath on anything from Neil. He said he was going to vlog for every day of the tour and he managed a half arsed attempt of 14 out of 36 that mainly seemed to consist of him eating breakfast or dancing in the lift mirror. I think part of the reason why Neil doesn’t get a partner is because he doesn’t really have any proper commitment. He likes the attention he gets from taking part in Strictly with minimal responsibility and pressure.

I don't get the whole 'he needed someone more determined like Angela Scanlon'. Amanda seemed very determined and keen to learn, I doubt she's lazy, just that they're both difficult and clashed. I think Angela and Carlos were the best pairing of this series and the ones that will genuinely be friends forever. I remember Carlos saying at Blackpool that she had been a bit down after the judges comments, so clearly he was the best person for her to encourage her hence we got that amazing argentine tango.

Erm the last paragraph that Gio was solely responsible for winning the BAFTA - didn’t Rose veto the original choreography- wanting something to celebrate that she is deaf and isn’t something to be sad about, didn’t Arduino do the choreography and I also thought Sarah James was part of the idea, think she suggested the song. So Gio may have come up with the silent part but it was impactful because it was joyous - which was Roses influence.

I think he does a bit of choreographing but then why not just have him as an assistant choreographer so he can stop grinding on everyone in the clauditorium??
