Seems Sarah James is on mat leave. This is a non-story anyway, as he will definitely be brought back, though I guess they might wait and see who the celebs are before deciding on pairing him up.

This bit is mad though:
Sources at the Corporation have said that they do ‘regret’ pairing him with Abbington and should have linked him instead with the more determined Angela Scanlon, the Irish television presenter. They think they should have paired Abbington instead with Carlos Gu, who danced with Scanlon.

I don't think Angela is more determined at all! She seemed quite fragile in some ways. Though I'm sure Amanda would have had a nice time with Carlos.

It is not yet known if the Italian heart throb will be re-signed after actress Amanda Abbington claimed to have suffered post traumatic stress disorder from appearing on the programme.

I agree.
And Angela and Carlos were a perfect match. I love Carlos, I think he is such a gentle soul. Angela took some hard criticism at times from the judges and I think Carlos was probably good at getting her back on track to keep going. They seemed to have a lot of laughs together.

I am guessing that Gio will be told to soften his cough with his next partner and that a close eye will be kept on him. As we have said on here previously, everyone, including the judges, needs to remember that it's a light entertainment show and nobody should be getting injured, exhausted, browbeaten or anything else.

I hope SJ stays on mat leave forever, ideal opportunity for the BBC to bring in someone who actually cares about Strictly, and not someone intent on making Strictly into the dance version of the X-Factor.

Why should pro announcements and plans for the next season be held off because she's away? Obvious solution is to just hire someone else!

I agree that Angela and Carlos were a great match. I’m sure Amanda would have had a better experience with pretty much every pro other than Gio. I get that pros have different approaches but when a number of former partners have had issues you need to stop blaming their work ethic and look at the approach that is taken.
 
No way in hell would Fanny Rat have been a good partner for Angela S! For a start she has young children and (if the article is to be believed) he was displeased with Amanda not training enough hours. I imagine he also wouldn't have liked Angela refusing to do late nights because she had to go home to her kids. And secondly, Carlos said Blackpool week that the judges being harsh on her with the VW and AS had really gotten to her. She also looked really nervous and unconfident with the Latin dances, and they obviously weren't her strong suit. Yes, I think she was a hard worker and determined, but she also needed encouragement. I don't think she would have gotten enough of that from FR.

And I shudder to think how much of a disaster he would have been with Layton. A few years ago Gio would have been the pro whose choreography I would have been most excited to see with a male ringer. What a stroke of luck (well, for everyone except poor Richie) that never happened.

Angela and Carlos were a perfect pairing, along with several others last year - Ellie and Vito, Layton and Nikita, Annabel and Johannes. Even Zara and Graziano and Giada have stayed friends and she went week 6.

If they can't find someone like Michelle Visage who can handle his bullshit without being affected by it, they just need to bench him.
 
Angela S' experience should not have been sacrificed just because she might have been a teensy bit more suited to Gio than Amanda (which isn't saying much). I can't believe they are actually saying that when she had such a great partnership with Carlos.

They didn't have a suitable partner for him last year, should have been "sorry Gio, not this year", just like what happened to Gorka in 2019, there was no suitable celeb for him that year. The only person I think who could have handled him personality-wise would be Angela Rippon but she has a good 20 years on Debbie McGee, would he have been accommodating of her age-related limitations?
 
Actually think Gio would have been accommodating to Angela R because she is seen as a legend and he likes that type of thing. Also he would be aware she wouldn’t take any sh!t from him. So thinking about it he would have worked better with Angela R than Amanda.

Yeah it pisses me off that there might be a sense that a happy, successful partnership should have been spoiled to satisfy a prima donna. I can only imagine Angela and Carlos' thoughts if they see that (especially as there doesn't seem to be any love lost between Carlos and FR)

I see Ellie's play tour has been extended to November now, which is good for her. The odds of her and Bobster getting back together seem very slim. He doesn't seem cut out for celibacy.

They were together at Dianne's house at the weekend!! Maybe it's an amicable thing or was never serious to begin with?

She was with Bobby yesterday. So clearly trying to keep it going for now. I’m not sure it will last the distance.
 
Yes, I know they were there together, but I don't think there'd have been a press story if they hadn't called it quits, especially one that clearly came from Bobby's team. Probably FWB or just still good pals.

Meanwhile Dianne was happy to show Ellie and Bobby together, but not Ellie and Vito..

Yeah, I can't see him with any of them.
Ellie - she'd have been in tears Day 1.
Angela - clearly had some confidence issues plus a mum who couldn't do long days. Don't think she'd be impressed with him at all.
Annabel - might have worked, but if he'd been nice to her there'd have been romance rumours which would have been awful for her.
Zara - ditto romance rumours plus he'd have been annoyed she wasn't any good (unless he thought her SM following would be good for him)
Angela R. - maybe she wouldn't have taken his tit but I think Kai was very good with her, and his easy-going personality was helpful when she deployed the gaze of death. The two of them together would have been too spiky.
Nikita - he'd only have been ok with her if he was ok with a duffer. That doesn't seem to be the case.
Layton - they'd have killed each other. On air.
 
Pros like Nikita, Lauren, Katya & Vito (average height, likeable personalities) can be pretty much guaranteed a celeb each year. Pros on either end of the height spectrum (really short or really tall) or those with more difficult personalities are probably a lot harder to pair up and should run a higher risk of being benched. Unfortunately TPTB seem insistent at keeping Gio at all costs.

Yes, Angela R was the big name and the one getting lots of media attention so Gio would probably have enjoyed that.
She wouldn't take any nonsense from anyone either. I think Kai was the perfect partner for her though. 😊
