AJ really needs to learn how to enunciate. I had an ex who used to mumble and slur words all the time and convinced me I needed a hearing test as I couldn’t understand them and was constantly asking them to repeat what they’d said. There was nothing wrong with my hearing, they just needed to bleeping talk properly.

Jesus. I thought he was actually doing a full bleeping Meg Ryan the way some people were talking 🙈
That will be his one scene tonight.

She had a stammer as a child, that she’s obviously got past, possibly a factor.

This account gives summaries of the cbb live feed. Nikita forming a boy band is about all he did last night.

See, I can't be doing with that level of unconditional adoration. Nikita is lovely. I liked him with Tilly. Really liked him with Ellie. And loved him with Layton. But it's absolutely not an issue if someone you like does something you don't like and you happen to be honest about that. If it puts you off them a bit, then fair enough. He doesn't really have the same appeal to me now as I always liked his class and (as you put it @soccergirl) his mystique. For me, he's kinda lost that now. It cheapens his brand.

I imagine if those on that AT thread were being totally honest, too, they were aghast at the thought of him doing it when it was first rumoured. I saw plenty of comments totally disbelieving it to be true (Nikita wouldn't do such a thing) or just hoping it wasn't true (they didn't want him to do such a thing). Obviously everyone's done a complete 360 now, conveniently, and I think I last read that he must be doing it to raise awareness of Ukraine... diabetes... Ukranian diabetics... or some such.
Yeah, there is a level of mental gymnastics we engage in justifying our faves. Not that Nikita has done anything wrong (cue 'he's probably talking all the time about Ukrainian diabetics but they're not showing it!'). I think he'll come out of this fine, profile slightly raised.

Watch me when Vito is sacked from Masterchef for wanking into a carbonara be all 'but you don't understand! in Naples that's the traditional way to prepare it!'

Yes, I don't post in the DS AT too often. A few of the most prolific posters are a little much. And I'm sorry but I don't give a single tit about trying to guess what musical theatre role Layton gets next - a topic that must make up nearly half the thread.

It makes me laugh that some of them are basically as obsessed and invested in their relationship as any hardcore shipper, just in a platonic way, but would surely insist their feelings are nothing like shipping. I remember one of them went off on someone on the main forum (who I got the impression didn't even know either of them had partners) for speculating about their relationship because of how emotional Nikita was after the Charleston. She made multiple posts in the AT bitching about how awful and disgusting and disrespectful it was to even suggest such a thing, meanwhile half her posts are waxing poetic about their souls being connected, them not being capable of reaching their full potential until they met each other, analyzing their body language, insisting any pro other than Nikita would have made a complete dog's breakfast of the partnership etc. My favourite post of hers had to be after the Tango, complaining that it wasn't sexy enough and that they must have been stifled by the producers. I mean, they started out almost kissing and ended up lying on top of each other on the floor... I'm not sure what more a staunch non-shipper could ask for, but sorry, I think you'd have to go to Ao3 to get it... or my Word doc, oops 😂

More than once there've been cries of disappointment they didn't go to some awards show or event thing together right after the show and then the tour and fretting over when they'd be reunited. Even in the deepest depths of my shipper delusions I've never seriously expected or wanted them to be glued together 24/7 ffs.

I had to take a moment to stare off into space the other day when one of them posited the question 'how must they feel knowing such a special connection was witnessed by strangers on the TV?' I... I think they're probably fine about it. As much as I'd like to imagine there's an alternate universe out there where they fell in love and lived happily ever after... yeah I think in this one they're probably OK people know they're friends. 😂

Yes, their friendship is special and I'm invested in it, and yes I hope for more Lakita content in the future, and I'm probably not going to give too much of a tit about Nikita's next celeb... but I'm not about to hate whoever it is if Nikita's close with them and I'm realistic about the possibility that they'll rarely if ever post anything together again now that their Strictly journey is sadly over.

It does remind me of the Rio thread with all the constant reassuring each other that they're thinking of each other and we'll know more about their plans after Strictly soon... which will surely soon turn into 'they don't owe us anything on social media but I'm sure they're together all the time' posts as soon as they go 2 days without posting something together.

As for Nikita on CBB... I suppose I can't talk because I was horrified by him doing it too and had no intention of watching it but oops here I am. To be fair, it moving to a new network does seem to have made the show less sleazy/trashy. I think he probably wouldn't have done it otherwise, if only because he obviously wouldn't have been allowed to.

Re the idea of Nikita wanting to raise awareness or whatever about Ukraine... I'm not entirely sure he's allowed to anyway. I get the impression Strictly doesn't allow the pros to post anything political. I know he posted a lot of stuff at the start, which was just after his contract ended, but unless I've missed or forgotten something, I'm almost certain he hasn't posted a single thing about it since before he started his second year. His sister still posts stuff about it occasionally, she did just a few days ago. Ukrainian pros from other versions still post about it too - Maks and Val, and Vadim from Let's Dance. It's very noticeable that Nikita is the only exception (other than Nadiya, who never posted anything about it in the first place) so I have to wonder if he perhaps was told it's against their policy on social media use. So I wouldn't be surprised if he never talks about it on CBB, though I think it's pretty bleeping stupid if he is not allowed to. No other version keeps such a tight leash on their pros.

I don't think that's true as Carlos has posted several stories about Gaza. Nikita must have his own reasons for not bringing it up publicly these days.

Re: the story posted earlier about the show wanting to bring in a younger female pro. I can imagine that's true. Mad that Jowita is the youngest female pro at 30. Having said that, Nikita is the only under-30 male pro. (We don't count Kai, who is clearly 49).

Isn't Michelle under 30? If the age of female pros was that much of a concern, then they'd probably use her a bit more than they have been

I can see them always being on the lookout for younger talent, but maybe the issue is that more often than not a younger pro won't have the maturity/experience to take on everything that partnering a celeb entails (being a teacher, counsellor, nutritionist etc and babysitter if you are Aljaz)

Hmm, yeah I do remember at least one of those. I was surprised at the time because it seems the Strictly pros very rarely post things like that, especially compared to the DWTS pros. IIRC correctly it was a very neutral 'pray for peace for both sides' kind of post. I still lean towards thinking they're probably at least discouraged from it, even if they're not outright banned. Then again, maybe not, maybe it's just a cultural difference thing between the UK and US.

I think to an extent Strictly would discourage anything being posted that is too political as the BBC is meant to be political neutral.

I don’t how Nikita or anyone can do CBB, I don’t think I could stay in that house even with my closest friends.

Yeah, I would definitely say hiring ones too young can be a problem. I didn't even bother watching past the first episode or two of the American one last year because I was so annoyed by (among other things) how out of her depth Rylee was. It was obvious she had no idea what she was doing, she just danced around her celeb while he stood there like a lemon, and he clearly didn't respect or listen to her properly (granted that has a lot to do with him being an hole, not just because she's 18, but an older, more experienced pro wouldn't have tolerated it.) The only week he managed to sort of almost do an actual dance step or two was the team dance and it was obvious that it was Val who forced him to improve, not Rylee - you could see Val dancing with him in some rehearsal footage he posted that week.

I think it would be sensible to hire some younger ones and have them on the bench for a couple of years so they can get some advice from the older pros and observe how it all works before getting a celeb of their own.

Yeah, I think Graziano would have probably benefited from a year on the bench when he started as he seemed a bit out of his depth then (but has clearly learnt a lot in the last few years)

I imagine younger pros who's up to the job are like gold dust. Jowita was fairly unique in that she had stage experience with Burn the Floor, ran her own dance school and had TV experience

And for all his faults, How's Trish was a good choreographer and partner from the start. But I do think it was no accident all his partners were good, young, uncomplicated dancers - I think if he had a nervous duffer or an Annabel Croft or Helen Skelton who had lots of other personal stuff going on - then he would probably not have had the maturity to deal with that.

Been thinking about this a lot, so sorry if it's a bit self indulgent. I also have a fever of 37.7° so it may also not make sense 🤣

I'm a huge fan of Nikita (that won't be news to most of you 🤣), I think he's an amazing dancer, a lovely lovely person and a fantastic ambassador for diabetes and - yes - I fancy the absolute arse off him. And yes, I was initially 😬 at the thought of him doing Big Brother, that was my genuine immediate reaction. Then I sat with it a while and thought about it, and I came to the conclusion... why shouldn't he do it? The pay for Strictly dancers is, quite frankly, not that great for the amount of work they put into it. If he can sit in a house for 3 weeks and make a significant chunk of change (apparently more than he makes on SCD for what is basically 6 months work) while also getting his face out there to a larger audience, then I can totally understand the appeal.

I also don't think he needs to speak about his diabetes, or what's happening in Ukraine,to justify being in the house (if he doesn't want to). I've seen a lot of people - not so much here but elsewhere- talking about how he should speak about it. How about no? If he just wants to go in there and be silly and have fun, let him. On Strictly he always has to be the one being mature and supportive. Let him live.

I also wanna talk about the 'cringe' thing and how he's 'ruined his mystique' for some people (and if this offends... well 🤷‍♀️). Nikita isn't just a figure of lust to be perfect for you. He's a human being. And if seeing him acting like a human being is cringe and ruins him for you, there are plenty of Ken dolls in the shops who you can project fantasies on who will never do anything wrong.

Glad that they might actually be considering some changes in the female pro lineup. They do need someone younger, I've been saying this for ages. I love Lauren and I'm glad they hired her, but she's the same age as those who have been around since pre-pandemic. Jowita turns 30 this year and she's the youngest regular. I really think they need a female Nikita, plus younger pros are the future of the show.

Michelle is 29 this year, she's not as young as people think.

It's unfortunate that the DM are spinning it as ageism with the headline.

It was me who used the word 'mystique' and for the record, I don't actually fancy Nikita really! he's too perfect-looking. By mystique I meant that I don't want to see him sitting around farting, and I'd say that about anyone else. I always thought Nikita was quite effortlessly cool.
Now if he started wanking into a carbonara, he have my undivided interest

I can imagine they might want a couple of younger ones, considering Nikita’s the only one who’s really young. I agree with what someone said earlier though that Jowita was kind of a one off, winning in your first year at 27/28. Most of them need a couple of years to find their feet and win in their early/mid thirties. Plus she did run her own dance school and had worked on tv before (with one of the best ever pros oti). I think they’re actually better once they’re a bit older as they have more experience and are typically more settled. As long as they are physically fit I don’t think age matters too much, I really like this group of pros!

There's a difference between hiring an 18 year old like DWTS with Rylee and bringing on someone in the 21-25 range.

I hated watching Harry & Rylee FWIW, that was painful. And because of her TikTok 'popularity', they're no doubt giving her another go next season.
