Yes, she obviously has agreed to the friend label, but I do think it's a bit tacky and pathetic of them to allow it. But I suppose it's silly to be disappointed in a celebrity for being an attention bleep. Like lol of course he is or he wouldn't be on TV in the first place.

It'll be interesting to see if Layton also goes along with pretending she's just his friend next week...

I don't think there's any harm in hoping your fave doesn't go down this road, though. Not everyone with a TV job will chose to go on a tacky reality show for the extra attention and the pay packet. Artistic integrity does exist. I think Nikita is getting a super easy time over it compared to if it was Gio, Neil or Dianne, for example - there would be torrents of snark.

I'm torn between wanting Nikita out asap so we can forget this moment of madness ever happened, and thinking it will only be worth lowering himself to do it if he wins 😅

Oh definitely. But they're a lot less likeable so it's easy to see why lol.

I notice Lauren is on Twitter and Instagram responding to fan comments. She claims that the nametag thing was just a mix-up and she didn't even notice it said friend instead of girlfriend until after the filming.

I'm sorry but.... press X to doubt, lol. AJ said friend as well, and then there's Oti - who surely knows he's not single - predicting a hot tub makeout with Ekin-Su.

I can maybe believe he's just doing this for a bit of fun and not with any specific goal of a career outside Strictly in mind. But there's no way in hell I can believe he's naive enough to have gone in there with no idea that the producers want a showmance, and that one would help his popularity with anyone who doesn't already know he has a gf, which is probably the majority of the audience. It definitely comes across like he's trying to gain new fans at the expense of established ones and it is disappointing.

Anyway, hope I'm proved wrong by the end of this ordeal, but I'm having a very hard time buying this nametag mix-up story, and I'm assuming it's a tacky, trashy, reality show-y strategy for gaining publicity. There are worse things to do and I still like him (for now.) But ugh. :rolleyes:
idk unless they have an open relationship and will dramatically reveal it after he does snog someone in the hot tub lol. I would find that (marginally) less cringe tbh.

Lauren has had that in her bio for ages so not linked to recent events. She is definitely looking to raise her profile further through this. I do think lots of her followers are Nikita fans so it makes sense that she would try to grab some more as he gets better known.

I don’t really think so, unless something dramatic happens. I basically hate this kind of reality TV - the last time I watched was probably St Jade and Shila Shetty.

yeah, imagining reaction on Twitter and here if FR had gone in with a steady gf, announced he was a big flirt and had Strictly people saying he was gonna hook up 😁
 
Trigger warning. Nikita’s girlfriend Lauren is utilising all her platforms and I felt I needed to warn people in case she comes up on your tiktok.

Remember that huge spot he had on his forehead by the end of strictly when he was exhausted and rundown? She’s shared a tiktok of her squeezing it 🤢 and him being a big baby about it. He’s quite amusing but I’m not a fan of pimple popping.
I can’t work out of she is trying to put women off him or trying to humiliate him 🤔
 
Yeah, it doesn't sound like he's had much so far. But since Sharon Osbourne's the biggest celeb and is only there for the first week, I assume he'll get more of a chance after she pisses off. I just hope he can manage something a bit more scintillating than 'I ate a grape' and 'I don't like the texture of corn' soon.

I guess that's some more screentime for him, assuming they air it. Whether that's a good thing or not, I can't even begin to guess from that description. 😂

Mind you, I would find it fairly amusing if the 'chaotic' and 'explosive' Nikita really is just boring as duck outside of Strictly.

He could be the kind of person who needs other people (his friends/those he feels very comfortable with) for the more confident and fun side of him to ignite. I always got the impression he was a little more on the more reserved side. I'm not even sure he fully clicked with Layton until a few weeks into their partnership. That's what feels jarring about him doing this show in particular.

Two and half weeks isn't really enough time for a quieter person to shine among more extroverted personalities, and away from his home turf of Strictly and his mates, might struggle to come across as anything other than a bit vanilla.
