Also, my mum just called me, very concerned for Nikita's welfare, and that of Craig from Corrie, who she likens to a large jellybaby.

"Ohhh... is Nikita OK? Have you heard? And that stupid Craig? Why are they in it? They should stick together and stay away from that other lot. Will he be all right?"

She's going to be like this every day till he's safely out 😩

I don't watch any reality shows other than Strictly and DWTS, but given some of the producer-driven showmance crap that even they've pulled, I wouldn't be surprised.

AJ and Kai did play along with it themselves with the twitter likes at least, but I still got the impression they were taken by surprise by that awkward moment at Halloween when Claudia asked them if they were dating, or said they should date or whatever it was.

Then there was the Mollie/AJ 'kiss, kiss, kiss' chanting, and I never got the impression they played it up that much themselves, though I only watched that series by itself, no following along on social media so I'm not certain.

A couple of seasons ago on the American one there was a horribly awkward moment where the host suddenly asked a pro whose divorce from another pro hadn't been finalised or officially announced yet if the rumba chemistry with her celeb was real, with her not-yet-ex husband standing right there. She looked mortified.

I'm sure there are loads more examples of such things, and on a way trashier reality show it would be way worse. So even if he refuses to play into it, I wouldn't be surprised if the producers pushed it anyway. Especially as there's no one else young or hot (sorry Colson) enough to fill that role.

Nothing major's happening on Twitter as far as I'm aware, I just meant I hope he never sees that novel comment by that uh... particularly devoted new fan 😐

@diamondthunder Yeah, that's what I mean with a show specifically like this one, with no hosts to egg it on and ask awkward questions, no sexy dances, no access to social media, and no appearances on a sister show like ITT where it could be played up even more, etc.

I could only imagine on a show like this, the producers put in the hot, young things and just have their fingers crossed something happens.

Well, I saw this on Twitter so I'd say they're definitely pushing it/hoping for it. Of course I guess they can't stop him from firmly shutting it down, but they could just edit out any footage where he says he has a girlfriend, only air out-of-context stuff that seems romantic/flirty, push other housemates to say they think something's going on with him and Ekin-Su or whoever, and he'll still have all the tabloid bullshit to deal with even if nothing actually happens. Then again, surely he had to be aware this would happen, so he should be prepared to deal with it.

Haha. Some of those hardcore Layton/Nikita fans/shippers on Twitter etc just love to be outraged though. Like, as others have said, I'm sure Lauren agreed to be called his friend, and tbh the vast majority of the GBP has no idea who Nikita is.

I saw some people outraged that she would be treated like that because she is so lovely. We know nothing about Lauren other than she has a hot boyfriend and looks great in pictures. 😂

I really don't think she is bothered and I don't think it means anything deep either.

CBB is a manipulative crapshow and Lauren is a very clever lady who knows exactly that. They'll play the game if it means a chance to win.

Do not underestimate how contrived BB is. There is no way it is not intentional that his girlfriend was tagged as ‘Nikita’s friend’. She actively shows us who her boyfriend is on social media. I very much suspect they are angling to keep the general public unaware of her. Not to a full extent of completely denying she exists but just keeping it on the down low to the vast majority of viewers. And she’s gone along with it as part of the T&Cs!

Exactly: I'm sure she has agency in this. She's a model who has 8000 followers - I don't follow her career but she doesn't seem to be doing big stuff. She's probably enjoying the publicity this is bringing her.

I had it on in the background there, and did think it was a bit odd that Oti was talking about Louis matchmaking Nikita and Ekin-Su. No mention of Nikita's gf. Oti is in on the conspiracy!
