Is it a hallmark film?
I watched Nine Kittens yesterday. Then a dreadful one called The Christmas Toy Maker. One of those ones obviously filmed in summer with terrible fake snow 😂

I woke up still discombobulated, sad and fuming about last night. Anton was a disgrace how he spoke to Jamie. Downright rude. Can't even be bothered to waste more brain space on awful Shirley. Chris will win. It's all ridiculous.

Oh no they are the best ones and the twinkly music panning across the snowy village that's decorated like a grotto
My absolute favourite cheesy ones are our first Christmas
And Christmas in Toyland
Also love last Christmas weep like a baby at the twist

i feel like they would have always called chris first, like you say, just to get him out of the situation before it got more frantic. it would have been so tricky for diane to manage for him too.

i rewatched it this morning (the way vito and sarah start it is 🔥 and would recommend watching just for that!) and jamie getting called before pete was absolutely ridiculous. pete was having a great time but spent all of it waiting for jowita to shout the next move to him 🤣
Pete and Jowita were on ITT the same night Shirley did her instruction VT about the Sambathon and I’d bet that Jowita paid close attention to what Shirley said about the judges being pleased if you bring the party vibe even if the footwork isn’t quite right.

That was the most fun and free Pete has been doing a latin dance because their plan was obviously full on party knowing they had no real chance of scoring highly. Tragically for Jamie, he was competing in a separate competition where he had to be perfect so of course he was ushered off the dance floor quickly.

Apologies if this has already been posted as I’m trying to avoid spoilers so haven’t read through all of last night and this morning‘s posts.

However, we don’t see Katya begging for votes and sympathy, and monopolising interviews because her family are coming to watch her 🤷🏼‍♀️

It's so wierd - she's such a beautiful woman, seems very nice and polite and is an exquisite dancer. But there is just something missing. I can't put my finger on what it is.
Is it Aljaz fault? Her dances have been a bit bland to my very inexperienced eye.
I was thinking about this and comparing her to other ringers that were more enjoyable to watch. I think with pop stars like Pixie Lott, they have an advantage from the start but they at least have some room for improvement in having to learn different technique. Same with Layton who had to tone down his musical theatre style and learn to dance ballroom as it's supposed to be danced. Then you have Ashley Roberts, who was the ringiest ringer but was still enjoyable to watch even though she was perfect from day 1 because she was a charismatic performer and had some memorable routines with Pasha.
Tasha can dance every move perfectly but, not only has she had no journey, she's also not a performer. Her lack of charisma and Aljaz's boring choreo must be what make her so forgettable.

Wonder if he will be benched next year

Strictly viewers FURY at Ghost Pasty treatment.

Oh, turns out they've already done one!

I would LOVE to be quoted in an article like this. Then Jamie can fall in love with me through my defence of his honour, and search all the keyboard warriors in the land to find me. A modern Cinderella tale.

I was coming to say the same thing, no footage of tess wrapped around him as if he was a drowning victim she’d rescued from the water.

this! 🙌🏻🙌🏻

ashley is one of my favourite contestants of all time. yes, also one of the greatest ringers but she was such an emotive and gorgeous dancer. i rewatch her contemporary and showdance so often.

tasha is beautiful to watch. i love her rhumba, her dance last night was really lovely and a deserved 40 but she lacks charisma and i feel like aljaz hasn’t really pushed or taken huge risks with her (which you can see she would be capable of). with ashley and pasha i always felt like you could see he knew what she could do and went to the absolute limit.

(edit: i will say though that i guess i’m in the minority in that i don’t mind ringers and almost always think they should win in the spirit of ✨dance✨ i never get 🥺 over the journey contestants because i almost always start losing patience with them. i get that isn’t the spirit of the show though 🤣)

I'm fuming yet not surprised. They've been gunning to get rid of Jamie for weeks. Undermarked, over critiqued (GENE KELLY FFS) and given a frosty reception from the judges for weeks now. It's absolutely baffling. This is only the second series of Strictly I've watched and they did the same to Nigel last year, I presume this is a regular trend? Seeing someone go from being so full of enthusiasm and joy to looking so crushed and dejected every week is really uncomfortable for me. I don't think I'll watch again.

Every year, I hope someone will finally get a song from Hamilton in Musicals week. It’s my own fault for hoping they’ll choose some newer musicals rather than returning to the same six or seven year after year.

When Nigel withdrew last year, I stopped watching because I wasn’t bothered about any of the other couples. The show just feels so much flatter once the couple you’re rooting for and enjoying has gone.

I was on a course that Saturday last year, and happened to glance at my phone during the afternoon break. I was absolutely gutted. I didn't really care much after that although I still watched to the end. Layton was my winner. This year, I actually don't care at all now with Jamie gone. If he hadn't been treated unfairly by the judges, it wouldn't be quite as bad. I hope he does impressions of all of them now because he is brilliant.

I have watched since the beginning and honestly don't remember it being so bad ever. Rachel Stevens was possibly the exception but after her mid-November onwards they gave her the praise she deserved. It only became a verb last year, and now poor Jamie got Nigelled too 🥺🥺

I love me a ringer. I'm still wanging on about Rachel, Alexandra, Faye, Ashley and Danny being robbed to anyone who'll listen. Which is no one.

On Jojo, I literally said to my sister as they were dancing last night “How is this the same man that made Annabelle Croft, a recently bereaved middle age woman, come alive on the dance floor? Yet with Montell, a young fit athlete.. there is no sparkle, pizazz or even joy when they dance!”

@UnresolvedYin I can’t find your post to quote it but I’m like you… I love to ‘feel’ the dance! The interaction, the palpation, the atmosphere a couple creates is more satisfying to me that point perfect routines.

Sarah and Tasha are perfectly capable dancers and I watched them both last night with awe at their technique. Based on that alone, Tasha deserved her 40.

But I described Jamie and Michelle in one word “soufflé” because it made me feel fluffy and happy. Chris did an awful paso but I still am astonished that he always manages to connect with Dianne after a turn/ solo moment and appreciate his efforts. I admittedly was a fan of Pete pre strictly, but just reading here I know I’m not wrong in thinking he’s improving and has fallen in love with dance. They make me feeeeeel something when they dance and tbh I’d be happy with them in the final 🤷🏼‍♀️
Exactly this. Dance Chemistry is SO important. I think that’s why that interview Kai did back in 2023 , completely dismissing the concept of it really enraged me. He has in spades with Aj, Luba, Jojo and Katya. It makes a huge difference to the viewer, when there is a connection. Pete and Jowita’s chemistry compared to Montell and Jojo is what keeps the public voting.

Just rewatching and the last thing said before the title music starts is Jamie saying he’s not ready to go home yet 😔
I like a good ringer but they have to make me feel something, show emotion and have a real connection to their partner.

Tasha is technically very good but I don’t get any emotion from her and with Aljaz it’s like she is dancing with her brother. Zero chemistry.
Sarah is technically very good but you don’t get any emotion from her either. I think she has more chemistry with Vito but I suspect that’s because he is just a far more dynamic dancer and choreographer than Aljaz.
Sarah and Tasha are like blank slates. I don’t feel I have any sense of who they are. Behind Sarah’s comedy persona is a performer who wants to win.

Compared to Layton last year. He came into it as a seasoned performer but had to learn how to rein in his stage performance and put trust in his partner when he said he was used to being ‘on his ones’. He was authentic and you could see his connection with Nikita growing week by week. I’m still blown away every time I watch his Argentine Tango and Paso Doble. I haven’t rewatched any of the ringers dances this year.

The Gene Kelly comment was bonkers. I was surprised at Craig's stupidity tbh.
What next? On Masterchef the contestants are told 'well Escoffier would have done it better' or on Britain's Got Talent 'well Maria Callas would have hit that top note darling'.
You're judging against fellow amateur contestants - not the best the world has ever seen ffs.
