Strictly Come Dancing 2024 #13

Well I think that's 7 announced and I've heard of 4 of them (about standard) but not remotely excited about any of them yet. Am sure some will get me interested when it starts up but currently very flat. Have no knowedge of either of today's announcements, or didn't until people mentioned their names last week but I avoid that type of reality show as I don't enjoy it. Never seen TOWIE and the 5 mins of LI made me want to smash up the TV but that was mainly down to Dani daugher of Danny taking crap. Briefly looked at the supposedly leaked list on the The Sun's webpage and there doesn't look like anybody I like there either. That said, last year I felt it was a great year for me but didn't necessarily pan out like that.
 
I hope we get another same sex pairing this year.. are there any rumours that seem likely? It may seem minor at this point and that’s a good thing that it’s not a massive deal but I’ll always reiterate that had I seen the rep on TV when I was a kid, life would have made so much more sense. Understanding who I was may have been that bit easier! As a female, I’d love to see a decent F/F couple, although I’m not sure anyone will scale the Lakita heights of incredibleness 😅
 
To be honest I’d probably watch the show if it were just the professionals teaching ordinary Joe Public how to dance… and maybe then I’d have a chance of appearing… … coz I just LOVE Strictly 💜 🪩

Interestingly out of the rumoured line up I can’t see who would be the obvious choice for a same sex pair this year. I wonder if there won’t be one this year, maybe they have opted for two disabled stars instead (not that it needs to be one or the other, but in the past it seems to have been a one same sex, one disability format)
 
It’s such a shite line up but I can’t blame any celebs for wanting to give it the dodge this year and let it all die down. Can’t believe Pete is doing it after what happened to Zara but I guess money talks.

I assume a lot of them would have signed on before the scandal broke?

Not sure exactly how early they get them to commit or if they can change their minds

I read somewhere - no idea if it's true - that they could be asked anything up to a year in advance. I'd say there's a lot of background work anyway before they put in an appearance on our screens. Plus some people are apparently approached more than once.

This year is probably the 'safest' year because everyone will have to be on their best behaviour. Hopefully the ridiculously long hours, among other things, are something that have fallen by the wayside. For everyone's sake.

I would also like to see the judges upping their game. More even handed with scoring and also explaining clearly to the celebrities, how they can improve. That's something I often feel is missing.

I also read that they start recruiting and getting contracts for ‘celeb’ contestants signed as early as Jan/Feb time.

I think if they feel they HAVE to have one then it becomes the definition of box ticking. If they happen to have one or two celebrities accept the offer to take part who would rather be in a same sex partnership then it just so happens to be part of the show that year. Doesn’t mean to say that they haven’t approached someone this year

Yeah I think they do as if you go far it’s a big time commitment for potentially four months so you need to know what your work diary looks like
