I have to throw my hands up and say I was willing to believe Zara much quicker than Amanda, I don't particularly like either of them but Amanda really rubs me up the wrong way. It may well be an internal bias of finding confident women off-putting (I'm female so I know I'm breaking girl code!) but I'm lying if I say I don't still doubt her. I can imagine Gio being an unpleasant trainer but I'm not sure if I believe to the extent of Graz, but I'd be the first to admit I was wrong if it is proven otherwise.
Why would she continue to put herself through all the abuse if it was untrue. Seems quite a masochistic thing to do to yourself. She is being tenacious in this. I think things happened. I think others have had similar issues with him.

Would commentary and complaints from 3 other of his partners not give you pause for thought? One perhaps, but three. For me this shows a pattern of behaviour that's just not right.

Haven’t a couple of non celebs and choreographer also raised concerns around Gio’s behaviour? Gio’s will take longer because of the number of people that have raised a complaint. Each complaint will have to be looked into throughly.

It is not just Amanda in the case of Gio.

But then for me, people saying James and Brendan are different and just nasty not abusive, how is that any different to Gio? They should all be considered the same if we are judging pressure and an aggressive training style as a pattern of behaviour.

The whole emphasis going forward needs to be on the show being fun - and celebrating improvements however small. Case in point Tony Adams. Some of his dances were joyous, and it was obvious he and Katya worked really hard. But several times the judges just actually openly laughed at them and refused to give a proper critique. And you could see on both Katya and Tony's faces how confused and hurt they were. Because the 'weaker' dancers work just as hard as the better ones. They don't set out to be a joke.
The judges can still give a low score, but still be kind and encouraging. It's a little thing but would change the culture and atmosphere of it all for the better imo.
Also judges should drop the 'well one of you really doesn't deserve to be here' type comments in dance offs.

I'm leaving this here as a palate cleanser.

Absolutely this. It's something I have mentioned a couple of times.

I'm not sure that they gave them even one bit of feedback. They basically treated Tony and Katya as a joke. It was obvious that Tony worked his socks off to improve. Yet it was only on the night that it was announced that they were withdrawing, Craig (if I remember correctly) said to Tony 'people like you are what the show is about'. And Tony replied along the lines of, 'it's a pity you didn't say that to me somewhere along the way.'

The judges need to be schooled also re their approach, in this new world. Shirley, quit with the favouritism and the cutting remarks. Motsi and Anton, give proper feedback. Motsi did better on this last time around than previously. Anton, use your words, you can and should be able to empathise (without repetitive anecdotes) and give feedback, Craig is reasonably balanced most of the time, but can be a bit cutting too, and he also needs to remember that these are not professional dancers.

As an aside, Tony and Katya have remained friends, I'm sure I have seen photos of them together on their respective social media, since Strictly. So presumably that means that even though she worked him hard, that was the height of it. I would hate to hear anything bad about Katya! She and Nigel have also met up since their stint together.

Why are the Mail so bloody obsessed with Govinni? The story featuring Jowita doesn’t even mention that Jowita was watching the Layton and Nikita show. Also it’s hardly the first time she was seen post him leaving. She is a social butterfly who is constantly posting on instagram 🙄

I like Katya too very much. I get the impression she is firm but kind because she always seems to believe all her partners have an ability to dance to some level.
And she has a real knack for tailoring routines to her partner's strengths whatever they may be. She doesn't take the piss out of them.
In the show if the emphasis was on improvement, nurturing and encouragement it would also hopefully take away some professionals obvious displeasure and resentment at being given a 'duffer' - that their efforts were recognised.
Not saying they should win or be given high scores, but should be treated with as much respect as the more naturally gifted celebs.

I think the difference is with Graz/Zara it was physical so easily seen on video footage. Apart from a stamp on the toe (which could be passed off as an accident/misjudgement the Gio/Amanda stuff is more mental stuff and Pressure isn’t it?
There was other stuff apparently. Verbal abuse, bullying, some sort of obscene gesture, and he sent her a video that was dodgy?

We also have to be careful for a what we wish for.

We don't want it so that it's all lovely, fluffy and sweet. That's just boring and saccharine. They've already gone heavy on the sob stories in the last few years on Strictly and everyone hates it. X factor and BGT decided to drop all the awful and delusional acts and now it's as boring as anything. Haven't watched either of them properly for years.

There obviously some compromises to be had. We don't want the professionals terrified to push and not bring out and show any potential a partner has but we also don't want contestants crawling on the floor with exhaustion.

Maybe a two point scoring system may work better. One for technical and one for entertainment. Then, someone like Tony Adams can get higher marks for entertainment value.

That's absolutely not what I am saying whatsoever.
