When Graziano refers to “external influences“ in his post, I took this to mean that Zara didn’t actually initiate the complaint, but it was someone else - whether production staff or because it was part of a post-Gio review. In other words, maybe he feels hard done by because he thought he’d got away with it, as things appeared to be fine between him and Zara but then “external influences“ got involved and turned her. I can see how an abuser might see things that way.
We’ll see what comes out in the wash.

Massive difference between him physically and mentally abusing a woman and Gio being a tough task master.
 
Wondering if his wife had any idea he was capable of something like this. Poor sod either way.

This probably won’t help as there was a story shared on here earlier about him being a twit as well! crappy with the staff 😮
 
Long time lurker, first time poster - I do wonder if Zara has kept this under wraps (either due to not wanting to cause issues with her new BBC career, fear of being believed or not realising how toxic it was at the time) and since being approached by producers to answer questions re the complaints from other staff over the past few weeks - she’s now had to tell Sam knowing it would come out in the media and he’s feeling upset/hurt that she didn’t confide in him at the time, especially given they’ve had Graz over at their house etc. May this be the bad news he received when papped crying at the TRIC awards a few weeks ago and the reason him and Zara are supposedly having issues now? (It’d be pretty crappy of him to be mad at her for this right enough)
 
In light of the turn this has taken, I feel like the ‘external influences’ and ‘when the time is right I’ll tell my story’ comments were just an attempt at getting some vague mitigation out there before the rest of the tit hit the fan. Muddy the waters a bit. “Yeah, I’ve been canned for doing some bad tit, but there were ‘reasons’ and other stuff that I can’t talk about”.

I have a couple of members of my extended family who always have a ‘reason’ for any crappy behaviour, but they can never tell you what that reason is. They assure you it will all become clear at some unspecified point in the future … but it never actually happens.

It’s just obfuscation and an attempt to steer the narrative. Nothings ever their fault, but they can never tell you why that’s the case. This really reminds me of that.

What is she supposed to say? "Oh sorry I was kicked, hit and spat at but it's okay, he was just trying to teach me"? People need to go outside and touch grass if they think she needs to apologise.

This comment made go and check Graz's post. Nowhere in that does he apologise to Zara. So, he admits that he did something that went too far but doesn't apologise for it. hole.
 
The pros including Karen were still liking Graz’s insta posts until his last one about leaving Strictly. So either the pros were blissfully unaware or think that this type of behaviour is normal in a dance world setting or they have justified what happened because of the ‘external influences’.
