The CCs in 2021 (like so many other years) were overall pretty disappointing. AJ’s didn’t quite do what it meant to, Tom’s was a flaming shitshow, the rest were blah so it stuck out partly for that reason.

Kind of a shame to see a woman described as a ‘plain Jane’ in this day and age tho. Wouldn’t it be dull if we all looked like Instagram models 🤷🏼‍♀️
 
The only CC I ever liked was Faye’s, and even then. Its way too broad that they then all end up looking the same. And its a usually a free pass because it comes with a sob story
 
The CC was definitely taken too seriously by fans (even though it obviously made a big impact, hence the BAFTA stolen by Arduino). In the messages that were aimed at Rose's bf's dad, one Rose/Gio fan slagged off Sam and said that Gio had done more for deaf inclusion in six months than Sam had ever done, or something along those lines! So yes, there was a huge amount of inflating the significance of that dance.

Also: I don't care, I love Fleur and Vito's CC!

If I was forced at gunpoint 😀 for my top 3, it would be Charles Venn, Chris Ramsay and ermmmm, can I say Michael Vaughan’s jive because while it was amazing it wasn’t anywhere near a jive and did actually defy definition.

Poor Sam, he really spent months in the trenches with the shippers harassment only for them to break up a few months after her win. Still, at least he didn’t get left for the Fanny Rat 😆
 
Is it weird I quite like CCs? I mean, a lot of them are awful but then so are a lot of other dances on Strictly, and even some of the awful ones are entertaining in an an entertainingly bad way. And there are some that I absolutely love

I just wish they'd stop using them to shoehorn in a bad theme or inflate someone's scores

I think my main feeling is that they are totally unnecessary. There isn’t the space in the show to do all the dances already without shoehorning an early doors showdance in And the ballroom dances tend to be very underrepresented.

My other gripe Is that they aren’t equal. Molly couldn’t have made it clearer that her final showdance was her de facto CC because really her first thought on being told she was doing CC wasn’t woohoo dust off Jamie Biscuits school uniform and hand me the mashed potato. It was probably more along the lines of ‘Dad - what’s a Grange Hill?’. Meanwhile Jayne did 6 dances and you could be forgiven at least 4 of them were a CC - when in fact she didn’t do one officially at all.

Also, over the last couple of years, they seem to have lost their mythical status they inherited from the Charleston. At one time it was the Charleston that was the guaranteed gimmie for a good score and a soft extra week. Then people started to be regularly dumped on it and CC appeared. Now the CC sees people appearing in The bottom 2 and going out is there going to be another dance added to take up that slack.

She didn't even do a CC and had about a million sob stories. I can only imagine what we would have had to endure if she didn't get voted off and got to do CC.

Isn’t that the poster who was convinced that the Strictly bosses had a grudge against AJ because they ‘only let’ him get to the semi final 3 times on the trot and spent the whole of the Saffron Year saying how he should bin off Strictly and go on I’m a Celebrity To showcase his stunning talent?
 
Yes - MarineDynamite, she was always a bit nuts. Far too obsessed with AJ and would derail pretty much any thread when he was mentioned. Sweet that she thinks he was destined for big things until evil Saffron ruined it all!

She also once sent me a 300+ word PM about why she loved Lauren Steadman so much and why Lauren was treated so badly in comparison to Rose. I left it on read.
