The fact that Oti won with mediocre Bill (whose highlight was a weird street dance) but lost with a contestant as amazing as Danny (who did tons of very memorable routines) will never cease to confuse me.

I didn’t mind Bill (but I get your point fully). I wish she’d won with Danny Mac, and then Jamie Biscuits hadn’t got injured so we hadn’t ended up with Kelvin 🙃

Weird to think that split second of Jamie Biscuits hurting his knee might have been a bit of a sliding doors moment for Oti - if he'd been in that series him and Oti probably wouldn't have won, so then she wouldn't have got 'duffer' Bill Bailey the next year (and won again), wouldn't have had her profile raised by being the first consecutive winner, then might not have landed big money ITV deals and left 👀

Or...she might just won anyway regardless

(I definitely don't think she would have won with Jamie though)

Oti has had the best case of luck a pro could get on Strictly the way the 2019&2020 series worked out.

Oti was talented but she was insanely lucky on the show - the situations in 2019 & 20 led to two wins and she also had a gift in Danny Mac. Pretty much blessed compared to any other female pro ever on the show.

Her other partners were all sportsmen in their 20s and 30s, perhaps not contenders but more to work with than the average 60 year old TV presenter or politician.

Kind of sums up the way Strictly is going these days

It may be harsh, I don’t expect others to agree but she just has never been standout for me whatsoever I’m afraid
I don't mind her and quite admire what shes accomplished, but in general I just find her a bit blah. And really the big turn off for me was how she's been forced down our necks at every opportunity. And even more than that, that she's this helpless sweet little girl who needed a guy to make her life better.
I am glad for her that she is creating distance from FR but I don't think she was innocent in allowing the showmance story to gain popularity

I see Rose as a bright, strong and very determined person and for me the showmance was 50/50 from her and Gio. They both benefited. I will be intrigued to see her next tv acting projects as the bits I saw of her in Eastenders her acting came across as average.

Anyway, I liked Karen and Jamie they were fun to watch. I also have a bit of a soft spot Jamie.

Vito’s Insta stories making me want to book a holiday to Italy.

This is my exact thoughts! Better articulated than I could but I echo your points greatly

The utter predictability of her win made it hard for me to warm to her (and I did find her a bit irritating). There was no jeopardy. She was an absolute shoo-in and why I put 20 quid on her after the launch show (I'm not a gambling person). I found it all became a bit too "St Rose" with her fans and anything that fell short of complete praise was almost blasphemous.

I didn't place the bet but I called it too 😂 In fact when they announced she was doing it in the summer, I told my friend she would be paired with Gio and they'd be picked as the story for the year. He gets his win, the Beeb get their inclusivity story! Even Shirley giving the low score week 1 had me rolling my eyes with scepticism. You've got to show growth!

I remember a few of them on DS having a complete and utter meltdown in the days leading up to the couple's choice, carrying on that the producers were sabotaging them or something because they weren't showing enough rehearsal footage and were being vague about the dance style and story/theme interviews. Somehow the thought never occurred to any of them that they might be keeping some info back to maximise emotional impact? No, it had to be that somehow TPTB had taken against 'their couple' and were conspiring to send them home by not promoting their CC enough.

The same week they also had a fit about Rose not having her arse kissed enough by the Friday panel. They were in absolute hysterics carrying on that Russell Kane had been horrendously rude, disrespectful and dismissive of Rose, so I go and watch the clip on youtube... and then watch it again trying to figure out what the hell he said that was supposedly so terrible... and there was nothing. Nothing even the slightest bit critical, he just didn't praise her highly enough for them. He said something along the lines of 'she's amazing, I can't believe what she's achieving' and then said AJ and John were his favourites. How very dare he 'only' praise Rose with one measly sentence and then say he wanted AJ to win because they're friends, the monster! 😂

I didn't pay any attention to usernames but I'd bet anything LadyLav was the chief handwringer 😂
