After a long time away from Strictly online threads, that year I lurked on DS a lot as the R&G thread was v active and had lots of info so I kept up to date that way, but they were a lot about everything šŸ˜†

I ended up bouncing between that thread and the AJ & Kai thread as it was a lot in a very different way- just complete fantasy land of this huge obvious romance that they were barely hiding.

After a period of festive reflection, I decided everyone on DS was a bit serious for me and resurrected my old account on here šŸ˜…

The same week they also had a fit about Rose not having her arse kissed enough by the Friday panel. They were in absolute hysterics carrying on that Russell Kane had been horrendously rude, disrespectful and dismissive of Rose, so I go and watch the clip on youtube... and then watch it again trying to figure out what the hell he said that was supposedly so terrible... and there was nothing. Nothing even the slightest bit critical, he just didn't praise her highly enough for them. He said something along the lines of 'she's amazing, I can't believe what she's achieving' and then said AJ and John were his favourites. How very dare he 'only' praise Rose with one measly sentence and then say he wanted AJ to win because they're friends, the monster! šŸ˜‚

I didn't pay any attention to usernames but I'd bet anything LadyLav was the chief handwringer šŸ˜‚

This was so bizarre. I think it was some weird attempt by them to make sure Gio didn't get any blame in case the CC turned out to be absolute shite. But then if course it was fantastic and they turned on Arduino for having the brass neck to choreograph it and try and take credit away from Gio šŸ˜†

I never got the big tizzy about that either- as soon as I saw what song they got I knew what sort of dance they would do and that it would work well. She was well-suited to contemporary/lyrical being a decent dancer, being able to act and being tiny/bendy so it was hardly a huge risk.

I think it also came the week after their samba which had risk written all over it but theyā€™d come through fine both from scores and public vote.
 
God I remember LadyLav having a meltdown about that Friday panel, I think because they didn't show much of the dance for the reasons noted above. Add that to the BAFTA-Stealing and she had a right one in 2022. (TBF she was far from the onbly one - my memory is that Arduino only said he was proud to have contributed to the dance, and they went nuts)

But she did accuse him of ableism and white male privilege!! (for being introduced on the pro tour as the choreographer!)

I love Pete wicks but surely Luba is too tall for him
 
Put Pete in some Cuban heels it will be fine.
Although I think there would be some good tv if they partnered him with Dianne or Amy.
 
Ugh, superfans are a pain in the arse. I can understand the teenage fans being overly defensive of their faves (though that doesn't make them any less annoying), but Gio's fans are grown women šŸ˜­

Apart from that one American poster on DS who relates everything to DWTS. Every post is like "on DWTS this happened", "on DWTS that happened" :sleep:šŸ˜…

Wonder if that's where Giovanni got the inspiration from?Also, I loved Nile that season.

Out of the three I think Zara is probably most likely to be asked, can't see Pete ever being asked for some reason.

Not sure who that is but there is an American poster who talks a lot about DWTS (the one who references their city in their username) and I find them very aggressive on the forum. At least LadyLavender is polite.

It think it was more a case of it being said that the silent dancing wasnā€™t something that was unique to Rose and Gio and the Rose and Gio fans determinedly sticking their fingers in their ears and continuing with the fact it was all Gioā€™s idea because of their ā€œspecial relationshipā€œ when in all probability it had been lifted from DWTS (because there is a lot of cross over dance idea and choreo wise. It was particularly noticeable when DWTS was shown here. Len in particular reused comments and critiques with importunity) and had been storyboarded since she said ā€œyesā€ to the gig.
 
They want the old romance story. Italian love rat settles for plain Jane deaf girl, never going to happen. Sheā€™s too good for him

I mean yes the moment was effective but it was so predictable and I just don't think the dancing was actually very good. It was a bit faffy, not very technical and not danced with a lot of genuine emotion.

I donā€™t like that sort of barefoot, wafty, prod you with a big stick emotional CC anyway (well, to be fair Iā€™m not a fan of CC in the main anyway, but the barefoot, wafty etc ones are the absolute worst for me).

Agree completely. I don't like them (or CCs) anyway and this did absolutely nothing to change my mind.
