I have a similar gap with my husband met at the same age age as Ellie & Veto too, on paper it can look a lot but once you get to late 20s that gap closes massively. It just really depends if at the beginning the couple are at the same life stage as one another. And if the older (usually male) partner is sensitive to the fact there can be a power/life experience imbalance.

Yes I agree about the late 20s. Ellie is still very young IMO (especially compared to 30s) and it’s also the fact that she has such a youthful vibe - the potential power imbalance would be my concern in any similar situation.

He’s so brilliant and just fantastically heartbreaking in Fellow Travelers. I met him last year and he is as just as lovely and warm and kind as you’d hope.

Oh this is nice to hear! Not that I’d expect any different of him, he’s just the loveliest! Fellow Travelers is WELL worth a months subscription to Paramount + once the whole series is out. If anyone is interested.

It’s always interesting to hear people’s thoughts. I’m really enjoying this series and didn’t love last year at all. Hamza was/is lovely but so dull. I also found Helen very ‘safe’. I’ve come to a conclusion recently that while I enjoy calm & gentle in real life (I’m the epitome of fairly boring & I like myself 😂), on TV I went to watch characters. I want the villains, the entertainers, the charismatic charmers. Why I like L&N and E&V and to a slightly lesser extent N&K. They just draw my attention, they are characters in various different ways!

Sorry but on rewatch, Angela's Cha Cha was a total choreographic fail from Carlos. "I Will Survive" is a camp song and lends itself reasonably well to a fun dance. I've seen much better routines to that song for old duffers. Carlos gave her very little Cha Cha to do, and even the fun non Cha Cha bits were off, like the circling around with Jazz hands, and disco steps that looked like a drunk wedding dance. Then when she did Cha Cha, she was flinging her limbs about with zero control.

It's not the first piece of dire choreo we've had from him this year either, American 'Smooth' springs to mind. I guess it's frustrating because Angela clearly does have potential.

Layton - Bit of a disaster, unfortunately. I don't think the choreography was actually to blame (what else could they do to that stupid song anyway?) I liked most of it, I think he just didn't dance it very well. I thought he looked a lot better in the camera blocking footage. He said after his jive that he found going first really nerve-wracking, so maybe that was why. The outfits... did not help. 😣

Absolutely sick of the ridiculous complaints continuing this week that 'oh, he won't do any dance properly, it's all just a bunch of jumping around side by side.' Nikita put more in-hold content in their American Smooth than half the Foxtrots and Viennese Waltzs all series. I love Katya, but she is putting the bare minimum amount of in-hold content in most of Nigel's dances because he's best at the solo work, (for the exact same reason as Layton - his West End experience!) and for some reason *cough cough*, they're not getting any tit for it. :cautious:

Nigel - I thought it was a bit stiff and awkward at times, but overall pretty good. Slightly underscored, especially in light of others being overscored.

Annabel - It wasn't bad but never should have had anything above 8. It also really shows how a proper song helps. I suspect they'd have found themselves with significantly fewer points if they'd had to do that to a pop song.

Angela - Poor Angela! I was covering my face with my hands by halfway through. I love Carlos, but that choreography was bloody awful, and I think she's competent enough that a more creative routine could have salvaged it from being a disaster.

Bobby - The only emotion I felt was discomfort. That said, he wasn't bad, he's improved his arms etc. Still never should have had 10s though. Some of the choreography was just a bit weird. 'Speak without words' - don't you do that every week Anton? Bobby actually annoyed me less this week. I respected him for how he answered Claudia's question, instead of talking about his mum and crying like I'm sure some ghoul in the production office wanted him to. Still want him out though.

Ellie - I wasn't sure at first, the bit on the chair was a bit yikes, but it got a lot better. Absolutely loved her walking up his legs! Best dance of the night by a mile. The song choice was very odd, but it didn't end up being as bad as I feared. As always, the singers should be taken out and shot though.

Absolutely bleeping fuming that Angela is out and bleeping Booby and Annabel are still there. I forget about them both nearly every week, they've each only had one or two nice enough dances, nothing wow from either of them. And both overscored nearly every week.

Sad that Layton and Nikita were in the dance-off off but it was inevitable this week after what was probably their worst dance. I hope they can bounce back with a better dance next week. Even Alexandra managed to dodge the dance-off in the semi-final, so the maths could fall in their favour next week if they're lucky. And I really hope he danced it better in the dance-off, I think that routine could be really good if he can smooth out the bumpiness, gapping etc.

I'm so sad thinking that if bloody Knobby hadn't had his stupid Producer's Choice this week, Angela probably would have survived. She said on her instagram she'd have had an Irish Dancing Couple's Choice too. I'd have much rathered watch that than whatever the duck Booby and Annabel are going to do. 😭

I want to rewatch but can’t face the “ BabyBabyBaby” squawk
I just did and it hurt my ears as much as it did last night.

I am back on a rant about TPTB exploiting Bobby. His teenage brother, who lives his life away from the spotlight, also had to sit and watch that with the cameras in his face with his dad blubbing away next to him. If points of view was still a thing I would be writing a very strongly worded letter right now 🤨

Don’t most of the couples stand like that? There is zero sexual chemistry between Ellie and Vito. Having said that I thought that about Dianne and Joe and 5 years later…

Yeah I agree - as cute as they look there is absolutely FA going on between them although I’ve never seen any of the strictly couples lol

I honestly don't see her as a young 20s especially if you compare her to Bobby who is only 2 years younger than her.
She's worked in showbiz since she was a child and comes across really grounded and mature to me but I didn't know Ellie before strictly and thought she was mid 20s so maybe my first impression clouds my judgement.

Literally happens all the time, to tons of couples. It's a touchy-feely show.

Must be a new watcher because not only do other couples do it but Ellie and Veto do it regularly. I get the impression that Ellie gets really nervous waiting for her turn hence Vito gives her a cuddle.
I really hope Ellie considers doing some stage work after Strictly she's been fantastic at delivering consistently throughout no matter how nervous she's been before hand she seems to control all the nerves once in front of an audience.

That’s fair. She always seems so young to me - I guess we have different perspectives. ☺️

Has anyone ever done that before? Don't half of them do it every week? 😂

I remember a few posters here who seemed quite convinced that Graz and Kym were bleeping because they stood like that a few times. I found it very odd (the speculation, not him putting his arms around her.) Curiously he did the same thing to Zara at least twice that I noticed but I saw far fewer Curse allegations leveled at them.

She seems young to me because she looks a lot like my 3 year old nephew 😂

I just read on digital spy that apparently people were slagging off Laytons mum on social media and people were telling him to block and ignore but he said he can’t not defend his mum. Honestly what the duck is wrong with people? Why on earth would they think his mum is fair game to witch about for him to see. I hope for all the horrible things he has to read to about himself and his loved ones online he also reads what the people who think he is amazing write about him.

I've found some of Carlo's choreography very odd this series, and I wonder if it's a lack of experience choreographing for someone who isn't a pro or a ringer. Angela is a decent dancer but she's not an all-rounder like Mollie was last year. Just... why was he getting her to do the limbo in the middle of a cha cha?

Kind of intrigued to see what he does with a complete duffer - the hokey cokey?

I feel a bit mean because I do really like Carlos. He is a sweetheart and an amazing dancer. But just not keen on the daft dance moves

I made a comment a few weeks ago about Carlos' choreography this series. I'm really not sure what's going on with him but he is definitely struggling with putting together a cohesive routine for quite a few of the dances. I definitely don't remember him having these issues last year, but like you said that may be because Mollie was much more of a natural dancer and he could choreograph around her talent.

I liked how he brought it back to how lucky he actually is 🩷 I thought he came across quite well, but I was a sobbing mess,
when he said how he doesn't have many memories etc. but that one of his earliest was looking up at her and thinking she was a superhero just made me bawl, I'm really ill at the moment and my children are the same ages as him and his brother were when he lost his mum. One of my girls just loves superheroes 💔 it just sent me over and I had been fine prior to that. I didn't think the dance was amazing but I thought it was quite sweet and I thought he approached it very well and was so complementary to Dianne
