As their scores came in, he started to cry. It was such a genuine and beautiful reaction.
They have got some hard criticism some weeks so I suppose they were tears of relief and joy.

That’s exactly how I see him. I love how supportive Nikita is of him. He’s far more fragile than he comes across I think. A beautiful partnership in every way

I do think a lot of this is the trope of aggressive black/dark skinned person.

I think it’s this combined with the fact that he is talented and confident (although I do think some of this is bravado to hide his vulnerabilities) which people equate with arrogance and that he is a proud out gay man. I feel lots of people are hiding their bigotry behind their views about his arrogance and that they don’t think he should be on the show.
