I’ve always enjoyed watching Layton and Nikita but my eyes were always drawn to Nikita but last night it was Layton who I couldn’t take my eyes off. This poster on digital spy summed things up well.

I love Leyton, I actually hope he wins, and this dance was fantastic, but I have to confess I found this moment a little false 🙈

I see the icon Judi James has finally weighed in, to tell us that Vito fancies Ellie but it’s not reciprocated 🤔

I think the playing safe was what made the other same sex partnerships not fully work. I love Johannes but lots of his and Johns dances were very safe ‘clubbing down Canal Street’ dances. Lots of the dances are either very romantic or sexual so avoiding that meant they didn’t properly work.
Nikita is so refreshing by approaching each dance exactly in the way he should and not showing a hint of self consciousness showing genuine affection to Layton. This partnership is the making of both of them.

I think John and Johannes did what they had to do at the time they were on. Now Nikita is taking absolute full advantage of the work that’s gone before and it’s brilliant.
 
John and Johannes’s pirates paso is still one of my favourites and I do think played an enormous role in opening up a lot of the public to same sex pairs. Knowing now the behind the scenes drama Johannes did a fantastic job that season in an incredibly difficult position.
Nikita seems to bounce off his partners so well. The way he’s adapted to three VERY different scenarios is incredible. I loved him last year with Ellie too.

Yes, to be fair I think it was only 2019 they had the first male professionals dancing together and that resulted in a load of complaints. I also think I remember reading that Johannes wasn’t fully out to his family until his pairing with John. Strictly has come a long way in the last few years. It’s a shame there are still people moaning about same sex partnerships instead of watching a performance like that and appreciating its brilliance.

Yeah agreed. Cant blame Johannes though seeing as John was practically stalking him. Poor lad.

I think these will be the three finalists, and for the first time in years I would be happy for any of them to win.

exactly this. i love all three of them equally (when i came into this series as very much NIGEL OR NO ONE) and would be happy if any one of them won. my head still says it will be ellie but layton seems to only be building his popularity with people who i guess would have written him off as a ringer at the start.

it will be a wonderful final either way, what a treat we’ll be in for! providing that the awareness of the thoughts of bobby doesn’t somehow coast in.

Whenever people talk about the height difference between Bobby and Dianne I always think what an amazing job 5ft11 Nikita did dancing with 4ft Ellie. It was lovely to see her in the audience supporting him last night.

Same here although I'm falling a little more in love with Layton and Nikita each week.

I noticed that he planted a lot of kisses on her after the dance and she was rather reserved in return. Not sure that that’s evidence of anything more than Vito being ultra-Italian and Ellie being aware that the press will pick over anything that they can spin into tabloid fodder. 🤷‍♀️
 
I think I’ve said it previously but I’m really struggling to understand the Nigel love. I was really expecting to like him but have found him annoying throughout, people say he seems humble but I just see a bit smug and someone who thinks he’s a bit special, it’s been a big disappointment. In contrast I had low expectations for Ellie and found her immediately fabulous. As for Leyton, had only encountered him on that school programme (no idea what it’s called but it’s horrendous) which is majorly overacted and a real turn off. Expected him to be able to dance (although he’s better than expected) but now he’s calmed down a bit I love him and look forward to their dances each week. Yes, he’s a ringer and I don’t expect him to win but the programme would be weaker without him, just imagine another Bobby type, can’t really cope with the one we have!

It was very very good and it deserved to top the leaderboard but I'm just not seeing how it was particularly outstanding compared to some other excellent ATs that have been on the show.

i don’t mind the 9 in itself but, as others have said, it’s the 9 when he really gave no indication what detail was lacking for him, gives them nothing to work with.

it’s like when he gave maisie’s quick step a 9 both times she did it but with no real reason as to why. sometimes i think he just likes the drama of doing it 🤣
