As confident as Layton is I do think there is vulnerability there too and sometimes the confidence has a hint of bravado to hide that.
One thing I did notice looking back at all their dances is how they both respond at the end of the dance (apart from after the AT where Nikita stayed in character and Layton was visibly overwhelmed). Nikita always shouts out and slaps Layton or the floor in triumph because he is competitive and he knows they have ‘slayed the house down’. Layton always grabs Nikita for a hug (and who can blame him 😘) and I feel that he does look to Nikita for reassurance. Layton has been a stage performer since a very young age and is very flamboyant but is usually playing a role. This is him putting himself out there and sadly getting a lot of hostility which I think does get to him.

I’ve always said this about Layton. I think a lot of his over confidence is bravado. Like a shield he’s built up to protect himself. You can see some of the vulnerability underneath. He’s undeniably not afraid to be himself & I’m sure some of the confidence is just him being him but that doesn’t mean the criticism doesn’t hurt.

I do worry a bit that their CC will be a bit of a revert back to Layton dancing in a way that people will be quick to criticise 😕 but I like Layton for who he is & it’ll be nice to see him back to his upbeat self hopefully!

That's my concern about the CC - there will be a lot of moaning that he's allowed to do a dance style he's trained in, that he's obnoxious or smug (see these words thrown about a lot when people really mean how dare you show confidence), heaven forbid he wears a AJ's showdance dress which will open up another gammon flavoured can of worms.

Oh god I feel in the minority here but I feel no stress for Layton at all this week I'm just pure excitement about what he's going to deliver on that huge scale with his own supporting cast of dancers around him if he's smart he'll give it loads of interaction with them, use props etc .

Don't know who all these moaning tw*ts are that people think he should be concerned about he's the best dancer, no one can take him out and hes in that final let's sit back and enjoy I think it's going to be epic .

That‘s probably true, but unfortunately it doesn’t make him very likeable I just can’t take to him, taking nothing away from his dancing because he is clearly the best “Celebrity“ dancer there…
Krishnan, on the other hand was my absolute favourite clearly not the best dancer but he radiated warmth and you could see how much he was loving it, gutted he went as I wanted him to get to Blackpool.

It is a bit of a shame that certain contestants get the chance to do CC's which show off their talents to the fullest extent and others get naff shite that the pros barely even look good doing (ie anybody with the barefoot wafty bollocks).

However, that's not their fault it's just the way the cookie crumbles with the producers bizarre insistence on this "style".

I expected to find him soooooo annoying but the person I see on the show is not the one I expected, I don’t find him remotely over confident or OTT, competitive yes (but so are most of them) but incredibly hard working and seeking to push what he can do which makes the dances a joy to watch.

I can respect that, it’s funny how two people can have a completely different perception of a person isn’t it, I know a lot on here don’t like Angela Rippon and can’t wait to see the back of her, I don’t mind her at all and think she’s incredible for her age.

I’m also not seeing what’s so unlikeable about him. I’d rather have someone like him or Nigel who are just purely themselves, rather than some childish sycophant like Adam Thomas, pretending he’s a perfect angel. He’s not playing to what I’m sure he’s aware the public want him to be but that’s more than okay by me.

I love him. He was on the Graham Norton show recently and he was just lovely.

I love seeing Nikita being able to go to the max with him and I look forward every week to seeing their performance. I think as others have said, there's vulnerability there that he masks. Nikita is the perfect partner for him. I always loved Nikita but this year I love him even more.

It completely is.
I'm like that with Bobby I think he's the most peculiar dancer i've ever seen for all the raves he gets.
Yes he does the 'moves' but he does it Bobby's way sort of loose wrists, floppy core, mouth hanging open clutching Dianne's neck which the judges applaud and are all for then Layton comes out and gets slagged off from all directions if he puts even a tiny hint of himself into a dance !

I actually find Layton a very gentle, creative soul he's poles apart from Bobby with how he conducts himself.
 
This made me chuckle - tired Nikita with wild hair taking his rubbish out on the way to training 😆
