I can't remember if it was on the results show or ITT, but apparently they chose a boring outfit on purpose to make it look more realistic as an actual couple having an argument 🤷🏻‍♀️

@Fillyjonk Bobby said that in dress rehearsals when they were in hold the shoulders of the jacket were rising up to around his ears so they got rid of it because it made his frame look unusual. A lot of his outfits have been quite plain - I'm convinced they don't have the budget/can't be bothered to sort out proper outfits for his height and shape!

Yeah, I think I agree with you - wardrobe never seem to know what to do if somebody is taller, shorter or wider than the average person.

I think what will be a shame for Layton is that the backlash will only grow stronger for him if he becomes the DO slayer.

Let's say he's safe this week as a top scorer, and for arguments sake, it's Annabelle and Angela R in the DO with Annabelle going. Then Blackpool is his first DO - that's potentially four DO's in a row, taking out Angela R & S and Krishnan... and finally... one of the bookies favorites.

It really would get so loud and unpleasant against him.

Of course, all hypothetical. He may not be in consecutive DO's and he may survive Blackpool unscathed, but if not, and he does land in them week after week, I could honestly see him being a shock boot against a favourite.

Can anyone remember when Ashley Roberts hit her first DO?

I get that others will disagree but I think Bobby should of been told No about his decision to not want to wear his jacket because he said 'it made his frame look unusual'
Ive seen so many AT 's been performed beautifully with the man wearing a jacket and lets be honest if it feels like its up around your ears its probably poor posture or his frame was all wrong and he should of been judged on it .

Week 10 - 3 in a row. Expecting roughly the same for Layton.

Ah, yes I seem to recall it came down to her and Charles Venn, who looked incredibly perplexed being a DO king himself.

What about Karim? Was he week 10, too?

Didn't he say the jacket was taken off him? I can't recall exactly, but I'm sure I got the impression it was someone else's decision.

They said they were going to carry on dancing and doing all the styles and had even hired somewhere and did train/ filmed some dances. I don't think Strictly were too happy as it went against the competition and them being voted out and obviously Amy was still an employee so her not respecting the vote while the show was still on wasn't seen as a good look. Other speculation on Gi actually wanted Tom to do the school run. And more on the throuple that needed Sara Davies to deflect but got caught up in a medical emergency that luckily she had spare trousers for... while Aljaz looked after her kids. Seriously the more you write about that series the more WTF it really was.
So was there an actual intervention? Or was this all just speculation?

Angela R, Ellie, Angela S, Zara, Bobby, Nigel & Layton seems a likely tour lineup to me. I think Krishnan will be too busy and Adam exhausted. Slight question mark with Angela S but I think they'll take her over Annabel if they can get her.

I don't think anyone out of the top 10 will be considered.

Everyone except Bobby will get their original pros. Dianne will probably sit out to spend time with her dad but there are plenty of other partners available for Bobby (Nancy, Nadiya, Luba).
Do you think Bobby would even notice if his partner changed??

I do think that Layton is more popular than we originally thought, looking at SM. Obviously he's divisive but there's a lot of support, even on FB. This week he should be top scorer, and I think he can stay out of the DO for a few weeks yet...

A tango needs a jacket - how much more effective Nigel would have looked in one. Put the men back in traditional suits/tails for ballroom - none of this wafty contemporary balloon sleeve shirts or stretch t shirts - I want the sophisticated glamour.

A long time ago on ITT there was a segment on how the blokes are fitted for a ballroom suit. Apparently you can’t just us an off the peg jacket because the position for hold changes the line. They need to be wider across the shoulder and longer in the arms to get the smoothness. Out of hold they look odd, in hold an ordinary jacket rides up so the collar is round the ears and the sleeves too short.

Every male celeb used to have one made that they wore all series. I assume this was very expensive so at some point a decision made a pack of 3 T-shirts from M&S was better value. I guess that’s why Bobby’s off the peg jacket was unsuitable.

Its been noticeable since the pandemic they've cut the budget for the costume department

This is so true and I think true for Angela R too. I’ve never found her personality very engaging (although love the Norma Desmond vibe!) and hype annoying but I think she would be really hurt by the backlash. And tbf she’s not just “in her 70s” but is practically 80 and that IS an achievement! Trying to keep her in for Blackpool making her a hate figure in the Daily Mail.

I love this 🤣.
Someone said on Saturday night, why was Nigel dressed as Simon Cowell 🤣 - that explains it 😁

Well he DOES have form for it… maybe the costume dept took inspiration? 😅🤣

To be fair, the men’s stuff has been awful for years. The Mark Wright series was particularly bad for trousers. Obviously off the peg, wrinkly and with pockets.

(His AS was a particular sartorial low point).

Yeah, before I took my break from the show the costumes were appalling, in particular the tight wrinkly trousers for the men. No tails, no jackets, ill fitting waistcoats at most.

Like with many things, we're likely never going to know whether there was an actual intervention stopping them from training. Both sides aren't going to want to admit that. But they stopped quite abruptly.
Ah, right. I thought from your earlier post that you knew something definitely had happened to stop them, which tbh, I would have thought very strange.
As long as Amy was fulfilling her work obligations, I don't think anyone could dictate what she did in her spare time.

Crackers as it seemed to most people. 🤷‍♀️

It’s like when they started putting the men in bog-standard ‘off the rail’ trousers, with the results that the pockets gaped horribly as they danced. At the very least sew them up!

I suspect Vicky Giggles is more of a ‘theatrical’ designer and possibly doesn’t have a good grounding in what a dance costume needs in terms of shape and movement.

Oooh, snap! Just spotted that you’d already mentioned the trouser issue 🤦🏻‍♀️

My suspicion is that any abrupt stoppage of extra-curricular ‘training’ on the part of Tom & Amy may have had more to do with an intervention from Giovanna than the BBC.
