I knew I could rely on tattle to uncover more stuff about the Amanda/Gio drama 👀. God, I really hope he didn't make ableist comments about her partner. That's just horrendous. Taking it with a pinch of salt because it's the DM comments section, but the way it's worded, it doesn't read like some random troll

Talking of trolls, oh the irony of loads of Gio fans defending her against trolls on DS, and then as soon as she doesn't mention Gio in her caption, loads of Gio fans start trolling her in the comments. Yikes

I'm no Amanda fan and found her dancing and partnership with Gio quite dull on the show, but I don't like the idea of anyone leaving Strictly under bad circumstances. When she left, my first instinct was that it was something to do with her partner and/or kids but we'll probably never know.

But if Gio did say something inappropriate to the point where she had to quit, surely that means he wouldn't be asked back next year?

I think a random comment online which could have been anyone has been made too much of. I could go and pretend I was Amanda’s cousin and she quit cos they shagged. Doesn’t make it true. I reckon they just hates each other and she got a a lot of hate for the terf stuff and her head just went so she left. Who actually knows though I guess?

Veering slightly off from the rumbas, Ricky Whittle's quickstep is one of my favourite Strictly routines. This is from the final where both contestants had to do five dances each and it was hugely painful because it was obvious Chris was going to win.

They used to do five dances each? 😳

I checked on wiki and apparently it was only four each - ballroom, latin, showdance, group dances. It just felt like the longest show ever. I think someone dropped out mid-series.

Also it reminded me that they used to eliminate one couple first in a three-couple final, and then make the eliminated couple perform their showdance. That's what created the perfect storm of the bacofoil dance.

Series 4 had Jummy Tarbuck withdraw early doors, and series 5 Kelly Brook. Both of those series the Celebs do a different dance to the same piece of music … which was actually quite fun.

Matt and Lilia quickstep, Mark and Karen samba

and Matt and Flavia doing the quickstep and Alesha and Matt the jive to ‘we love to boogie’

That made me laugh too! They were very keen to put out that all three were great friends.
The only reason I wondered about those two is because they immediately distanced themselves afterwards, I know Aliona moved to Florida and had her daughter but it doesn't appear like they kept in touch at all.

I think they did, you know. I'm pretty sure they did something dancewise after the tour, possibly charity related? Can't quite remember, and she definitely went and saw him in Big. Lots of pics of them all socialising and they appeared in touch on SM. But then, life moves on, I suppose.

I often got the impression she was more protective of him. I used to think she knew more about him than he was publicly open about.

Weird fact - Jay's dad used to read and occasionally post in his DS appreciation thread.

They definitely did five dances in the series 4 final although Wiki has them down as doing only four so they might be wrong for S7 as well. I remember Matt and Mark had to do ballroom, latin, show dance, a dance to the same piece of music and a VW group dance.

That was also back when the show had the insane idea to make the top three or four contestants in the current series take part in the Christmas special while also training for the actual show. And they had to do two dances a week from Week 9 onwards with the final not taking place until the day before Christmas Eve. If they weren't sportsmen, I think one of them would have collapsed on the floor out of sheer exhaustion!

I checked on Monkseal's blog, and apparently it was just four, and Ricky managed to score 190 points in the final 😅 https://monkseal.wordpress.com/2009/12/24/strictly-come-dancing-7-final/#more-2546

I'd totally forgotten that Lisa and Rachel were brought back to fill time in that final, the show really did try hard to cast them as winners.

Got the YouTube one, also includes the VT before:

Gorgeous dance, great way to honour Len. I will say that Bruno sobbing at the end totally got me.

oh this was beautiful 😭😭 and everyone spoke of him with such love and genuine affection. i wasn’t expecting the spotlight on his chair :( poor bruno.

i agree with others that i think they’ll do a tribute at blackpool - and i would love for a few ex-pros to come back (rather than, no offence, having nikita/vito/lauren and others who wouldn’t have really been judged by him on the show). that routine will take some beating though :(

I think it would only really work if they brought back ex-pros since there isn't actually many pros left from Len's time on the show, he left in 2017 didn't he? It was a bit different with DWTS, he was still on it up until last year.

I guess, Kevin, Joanne, Ian, Pasha, Flavia are all knocking around and have done various ITT bits in the last while. Brendan and James Jordan perhaps not! Anton could also join in.

yeah - i think they have a decent enough list to choose from and i would much rather see some “classic” pros be able to do it. i wonder if brendan would, i don’t feel like he burnt his bridges as much as james did, but it depends i guess!

just hope it’s kept as a completely classic ballroom number like the dwts number. give anton control of the choreography!

I think Arduino might get the job, he always does lovely ballroom numbers.

Awe that's nice to know.:) The dad thing is a bit weird! But then I suppose the temptation not to look at such things when it's your own would be hard to resist when it's your child.
