I read all of these threads but never comment! I don't know why! I personally love Layton and I really admire him for being completely himself. It's undeniable that a lot of what's said about him is thinly veiled homophobia. He's not the first gay contestant but he leans into his campness and people don't like it. Throw in the fact that he's a person of colour and he was always going to have an uphill struggle. He's getting a lot of hate online. He and Nikita seem to get on great. They're always in the back ground linking arms and seem to have a lovely friendship. I think the hate he gets shows how necessary it is to have queer representation. I love them both and I hope they get to the final. My favourites never win, so they won't win!

Three incredible male hires in the past few years - Graz seems lovely and obviously is a fabulous dancer too but the other three are just outstanding dancers, great teachers, innovative choreographers and fun personalities who always seem to bring out the best in their partners: the full package. All fun to look at too which never hurts. JoJo has been with the show a bit longer but seems to have a touch of their magic formula too.

It’s nice to see Lauren come in to the lady’s side … because as good as they are it has got a wee bit stale

Absolutely: Lauren and Jowita have been outstanding hires too, on a par with the boys mentioned.
Katya is the only other female pro who I'd regard as the "whole package".
Nadiya and Amy are both wonderful dancers but seem to be quite poor teachers and unimaginative choreographers.
Nancy is a great dancer too but seems to struggle when it comes to matching routines to the ability levels of her partners.
Dianne connects with her partners and dances beautifully but struggles with choreography and her personality grates on so many people!
Luba is a spectacular dancer but we haven't really seen what she has to offer up to now - I'm not an Adam fan but I hope he sticks around a bit longer so we can see more of Luba!

i wonder if they just think it would be too similar looking and sounding though - bond themes tend to very much have the same vibe (great tangos, pasos, maybe a waltz) so they could all blend into one. but the potential is there!!

Yes, Bond week would be great!
I know nothing about musical beats, but I think Goldfinger would make a make a decent rumba.
And Nobody does it Better could be a Viennese Waltz.
 
I think Layton's biggest downfall is that he suffers from main character syndrome and people don't like that. Him not listening to what Nikita is trying to teach him comes off as arrogant. It's such a shame because with his natural ability and talent paired with Nikita's excellent teaching and choreo, the potential for these two to go mark their place in the Strictly history books is huge! Hopefully this week will encourage him to start listening to Nikita

you’re absolutely right. i did like that he immediately agreed and admitted that nikita had continuously mentioned what the judges picked up on when they were training - and he seemed genuinely apologetic about it so hopefully he learns from that.

absolutely agree. i would add that karen is another wonderful dancer but poor teacher (though maybe in a different way to nadiya/amy). i do think this might be her last year.

i’m loving seeing more of luba, she always catches the eye in group numbers and seems a really nice person.

My brother is gay so homophobic i am not- I won’t even comment on colour🤬 Layton can continue to be himself in the dances if he chooses and by doing that he is not dancing the dances as they should be danced - entirely his choice and he will be marked by the judges accordingly - if his scores are low has he enough of a fanbase to save him🤷‍♀️

I’m not, both Nigel & Layton were either not great or forgettable so it’s no surprise that the likes of Krishnan and even Annabel were higher on the poll. Why is Amanda always at the top 😭 I really hope she fizzles out soon

I’m assuming it was just to give a taste of the characters they would be playing. Hamza & Jowita did something similar last year for their BBC week quickstep, came out and were in the upstairs section wearing huge jackets but when it came to the actual dance they took them off. I think their theme was frozen planet or something similar?

I KNOW I should have been watching Layton more than Nikita but found it impossible with Nikita looking like THAT …. Nikita and Diane should both adopt last night’s hair styles, Lauren too, that bob really suited her .. serendipity rules 😉
 
I'm just watching as was away last night, ignoring ALL chat & spoilers 🙈 but this girl sat in the audience behind Craig was giving me the absolute rage.
Why did no one on the floor have a word, tell her she looks terrible constantly biting her nails or adjusting her boob tube.
duck I wanted her moved, preferably to the car park.
She was well aware she was in shot, checking herself on on the screens.

Not coming back on here until I've seen all the dances.

I didn't say that you were homophobic, just that a lot of the hate he's got online has been. I've seen a lot of comments suggesting that he's 'in your face' with his sexuality. They're all learning, they just have to learn different things. I think when he's good it's that he's professionally trained so of course he's good. When he isn't great it's because he's not listening and he's a diva. When in reality he's learning like everyone else and will be better some weeks than others!
 
It’s no surprise that couples choices are historically high scoring and many couples who are average have an amazing week with their CC - there are literally no rules or technique so as Craig said last night, it’s a chance to show off what the celeb CAN do rather than what they can’t. That being said, Eddies was still bad. Well, it was meh, average. There have been CC’s in the past that you can tell are very good, even if there are no rules etc. Eddie didn’t even dance that great I can’t fathom where the 10 came from

For me, my opinion on Laytons ego comes from the way he responds to certain things online, his reaction to the judges comments week 1 when it seemed like he was barely even listening and his comment last night to Niktita about him being right after all, amongst other things. Personally I don’t think he has come across THAT well but that’s just my personal opinion

dianne looked incredible with her hair like that! i know the red is something of her trademark but brunette suits her so much more.

i’ll take nikita all ways though damn 🫠🫠🫠
