the pjs are a bridget jones thing - she starts the film wearing them and drinking wine, but they literally only wore them for the start and end and not in the actual dance.

i had a little rewatch this morning and i really think ellie and vito could win this. there’s just something really lovely about them as a pairing and she’s been, imo, the most consistent celeb so far.

Ellie's my favourite female dancer so far - like you say, just so consistently good. I just want them to give her something a bit more serious to dance to next to switch it up a bit

Layton - Not quite as good as I was hoping, but still quite good. You can see his previous training is hindering him a bit here. He's so used to going all out and spinning about like a whirlybird by himself he's having trouble calming down and letting himself be led. Someone earlier in the thread compared him to Rhys, who managed to calm down and stop being so frenetic and spiky by the later stages of the competition, so hopefully Layton will be able to as well.

Layton- I can’t put my finger on what is off with him- Believe me I am no John Whaite fan ( love Jojo) I looked back at John & Jojo’s viennese waltz this morning - there was no comparison John and Jojo were in sync energy wise - it was elegant , classy - they were a unit - I love Nikita but I think he has his hands full with Layton- it’s great he has a capable and willing student but can they refine the dances - I can’t even word what I am trying to say -

I know they won't want to get rid of CC because there have been some iconic routines over the years. But I wish they would just have a Couple's Choice week where everyone dances it on the same night. The less good routines wouldn't get overmarked because we could directly compare them and we'd get them out of the way all in one go rather than them being something of a safe week for most couples (except Tom Fletcher ;))

Ellie - Brilliant, she looked stunning with those glasses!

Layton - too much attack and Hair dept need to burn all of tonight's wigs ( except Diannes)

Nikita - well that was unexpectedly better, but still awful. She gives me Fiona Phillips limp flashbacks

Adam - just can't warm to him

Amanda - executed like a pro but not feeling it, and walking back to the sofa should have been danced to the sofa. (Wig fail again)

Eddie - nah. The 10 needed 3 marks taken off. Couples choice should be choose one of the Strictly ballroom/latin dances they want to do and to their choice of song, not an anything dance with a VT story.

Boɓby - was Brilliant but the hips were way too much. And Shirley's predator side was ready to pounce

Annabelle - just adore her

Jody - he comes across lovely but I forget him. Enjoyed the dance, underscored but I wouldn't miss him if he went.

Krishna - he surprises me! Wonderfully performed! (Teen son lookalike of Taylor Lautner is traumatised by Claudia😆)

Nail biting fidgety girl will be told off by parents, ripped by her friends and get a phone in interview on ITT.

And Amy, never been a fan of hers, but delighted to see her, and eyes welled up, wishing her good health

Nail biting fidgety girl is Amanda A's daughter so am sure won't be told off 🤣 clearly dragged there to watch her mum and would rather have been anywhere else! Google also tells me she is dating one of Emma Bunton's sons!

Someone on DS said that that Jenny who does the salsas and charlestons just started following Ellie. I think she'll get a salsa but so many of them are so badly choreographed and themed (still shuddering at Fleur's Beyoncé salsa last year with Vito in a woolly tank top, incomprehensible theming, and the singers absolutely decimating Break My Soul).

While I don’t think Krishnan will make the final 6, the others will. Plus probably Amanda.

I do think the show needs to find a different theme week rather than Movie Week (or in Nigel’s case, 60s TV show with an undanceable tune).

Just a few ideas:
Divas week - featuring great tunes from Whitney, Mariah, Celine, Adele etc
Couples Choice week - get them all over in one go
Motown week - speaks for itself
Decades week - songs of the sixties, seventies, eighties etc

fully agree. i think genre weeks (as in motown week, boyband week, decades week) just work better than the absolute mess that movie and tv weeks always are. there’s never any coherence to the choices and it’s sometimes just completely unfair: like you have one couple given an absolutely classic fosse number…. and then one who has to dance to a tv show theme tune 🤣

i feel like these themes have taken the potential for so many good dances from us (to be dramatic about it). nigel could have had an okay jive in him, molly definitely could have done an outstanding CC last year, luba has been done wrong with it so many times…. do themed weeks for the music, not the entire routine. it never lands right!

Please there have been plenty of gay contestants who were not referred to as divas because....they didn't act like divas.
Layton has decided to play up to the camp, flamboyant showgirl thing which is his prerogative but people have every right to find it annoying.
Personally I can't take to him because I find his personality OTT and his style of dancing is the same. Add in the fact he doesn't seem to want to learn from the experts and it makes him pretty unlikeable. I'm happy to have my mind changed as the weeks go on though.

She is such a melt. But I agree the dance was really good.
 
I thought Angela S. actually looked gorgeous with the wig. She really suits short hair, and more dramatic make-up.

a bond week could honestly be SO good.

i wonder if they just think it would be too similar looking and sounding though - bond themes tend to very much have the same vibe (great tangos, pasos, maybe a waltz) so they could all blend into one. but the potential is there!!

He did admit that he hadn't listened to Nikita, when the judges said something Nikita had said to him, repeatedly, so that might sink in with him now.

I enjoy their performances, I love that Nikita can really push him because he is talented albeit last night wasn't their best, to date. I love Nikita, he has shown himself to be so versatile and he looked 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 last night.

It's not a spoiler? just one poll - doesn't say anything about who might go, and I didn't include the bottom half. I don't think Dave's poll is always reliable anyway, as an indicator of how the whole voting public will vote.
