I love Nigel and thought he would do a great jive. But it was actually awful. I’ve given him all my votes tonight, he is in a dodgy position on the LB and I can’t bear to lose him!

All my votes went to Nigel. Am sure he will be safe despite being stitiched up by a rather dodgy costume and trying to act the character rather than concentrate on the jive steps.

Think Jive was always likely to be a weaker dance for a more theatrical 50 year old with a dry sense of humour. Add in the theme and I shouldn't be too shocked. Out the way at least, just hope it's not his redemption dance in the final.

Undecided whether he found the dance difficult or not, however he did say in a clip that he may master it by christmas!!

I prescribe some heavy meditating then come back fresh on Monday. 😁

I thought it was interesting tonight Layton said he agreed with Anton's critique and Nikita had been saying ot for 2 weeks and he was actually right and he was sorry. So does this imply he doesn't listen to his pro and thinks he knows better? He did it in a charming way but struck a nerve for me.
I think he knows what he has to do … just he still can’t contain it properly with the excitement of show day.

I don’t think he’s purposely not listening to Nikita or ignoring his instructions/teaching, I think he’s probably just struggling with the change from his usual style of dance to the ballroom & latin.

No mole tonight on spoiler FB group- will have to wait for Dave
I was about to message you see if spoiler Dave have checked in with Juliet to make sure she had someone there. Suppose it'll be a Sunday surprise for everyone then.

I think it'll be Jody and Zara with Jody going. It wasn't great and he won't want to risk longterm injury with the paras next year. As much as I want to see gio's face going out early, I'm enjoying them having to act like they like each other too much

Was there a reason why Nigel was dancing to and performing in the costume of the TV Batman when this was meant to be Movie Week?
Honestly I had such a bad feeling about the concept of a naff, dated telly show theme for movie week like expecting a 50 year old to have the stamina needed to produce a perfect jive so it doesn't come off as tit was a big call, just to much potential to go wrong and it really did go to tit for him tonight (I say this as 35 year old Beryl 😉 who has loved him since he became my first ever man crush way back in 2005)

Only plus to take from it is that viewers/voters might now see or believe when people say that he's never really been a 'ringer' to the crazy extent some have made out (although no doubt someone will tell me he was faking crapness tonight and he'll return next week so outstanding he'll make Ashley Banjo look like frigging Lee Dennis)

Dave said on the DS spoiler thread he has two moles for tonight.

I think Laytons problem is that he is used to the training and learning routines but isn’t used to the teaching and being told what to do. For the west end he has the skill, he just has to learn the routine but with Strictly he isn’t the professional in the training room, he’s the amateur and for someone who has a slightly cocky personality, that’s a hard adjustment and likely where the hurdles are cropping up. The problem is if the other contenders are perfecting the technique then he will get left behind

I think his main problem was the made a complete Horlicks of the first section then blanked completely with a bit of random leg waving and wasn’t able to pick it back up again.

There was a movie of Adam West Batman but it was hardly memorable.

I loved it! “Some days you just can’t get rid of a bomb!” But whoever was responsible for wasting the opportunity for Katya to be a fabulous Julie Newmar wants sacking.

Just finished watching on catch up. Random thoughts:

Bobby looked like a young Mick Jagger. Dianne looks 15 years younger and much prettier without the brash hair colour.

Amanda has fabulously toned arms.

Lauren is an amazing dancer. And Krishna is adorable!

Shirley’s 10 for Eddie was ridiculous. As were many of the costumes: Graziano, Kai, Adam & Luba, Nigel & Katya - just why?

And why did Amanda & Gio keep swapping costumes?

I think Angela S or Ellie will win.

I impressed myself by saying much the same thing as Craig: Layton is undeniably a fabulous dancer, but he throws himself at the dances with a smidge too much energy/attack - I wonder if it’s because musical theatre requires you to ‘go big’ to play to the back row, but that doesn’t necessarily translate well to a tv screen/small-ish studio?

He is getting better though … the first week he made Kevin-from-Grimsby look positively stoney-faced.
