It was definitely a joke, nobody wanted it to happen! It could have happened though that was a crazy lift for week one.

Same with the jive. Good for Jayde, Kim and James to get it out the way but it’s technically a harder dance so I suppose it just means carrying fewer points over.

I enjoyed Will’s jive last night and I’ve seen worse jives than that 5/6 weeks in!

I would like to say I don’t hate Neil! He’s just so cheesy and pasty and he has an alter ego Nell de Jaunes who he wheels out on It Takes Two and I cringe myself inside out every time. He’s been there about 8 years and has only had two partners so I’m not sure why he stays. But I don’t hate him - in fact, he grew on me on the professional tour - he came out with a kilt on and made a joke about being an honorary Scot because he’s ginger. He and Kai had some good banter and it was good clean fun!

You know, I actually quite liked Neil on the tour too - I thought he banter was way more natural than the other pros. I think the issue comes when he doesn't reign it in and it becomes a full on cringefest

I think Luba left as she was constantly given crap partners. Which was a shame as we didn’t really get to know her properly.
No, she's still there. Though of course may leave after being passed over again. I hope not though, I hope she gets at least one decent chance.

Her and Kayta have been best friends since they were 10, makes me wonder if there's ever any tension/awkwardness between them that Katya is one of the main pros always given a partner, and poor Luba's the perpetual wallflower.

I think Neil's run his stint now he's a prolific benchee, but I think Luba has more to give. She should not have been on the bench this year. I think she could have had James and Amy sat out this year.
Oooh is Luba still part of the pro team? Thought she had left as I didn’t see her last night.

Although seeing Katya with Tony, she’s probably thinking Bullet. Dodged.

I think it’s a shame we haven’t seen more of her - we have not had a chance to get to know her . I’m not hugely keen on Nancy so wish she was on the back bench this year.

I was watching back Tyler's dance and the height difference between him and Dianne is massive - can't help thinking Luba would have been a much better partner for him

Or even Tony - as great as Katya is, surely a complete novice who is tall and lanky would be more comfortable dancing with someone closer in height

Yeah, Luba could have done a nice job with Tyler and probably gone further than she has so far. Dianne seems up to her usual tricks of duff choreo with a trick.🥱 Sorry, but I just can't feel bad about her "week four curse" when boo hoo, she got to the semi finals with Joe and persistently has a partner unlike Luba who has had one uber duffer, one early exit due to stitched up theme and nothing bloody else due to benching.

I wouldn't have wanted Luba with Tony in fairness as he looks to be another Cracknell. But I would like to have seen what Luba could do with Tyler who looks like he has some potential but he's stuffed when he get a party Latin with Dianne.

I don't hate Neil but it was time for him to be axed this year. He's done his years on the bench and it looks a bit sad with him hanging in the background again. But after last year, it was obvious that he wasn't the right fit for a celeb (Nina should have never went out first) and there are now other male pros to try who have both had positive feedback on their first night. Also, age may factor in. A 40 year old is going to have less time left as a pro than a 25 year old and whilst some 40 year old pros still have a youthfulness to their dancing (e.g. Karen), not sure that's the case for Neil.

I don’t think so. I think people either forget or don’t realise Luba initially came to the show in a choreography capacity in 2016/17 before becoming one of background pros in 2018 so it’s not like she was over looked and benched for a significant period like Neil.

At the end of the day most of the pros have known each other for years either from competition days or doing company work like BTF. Some might be closer friends than others but I do think they are generally all good friends (not the happy families bollocks they try push though just good mates)

I felt bad for Tony yesterday but I can't help but wonder if we'll ever get a male footballer who can dance. They've won abroad but none have even seen a final here.
I wouldn't say that's necessarily because any of them can dance. The ones I remember from DWTS Australia were bloody awful, but were carried there by the audience vote, with the judge's eventually giving up and giving 9 and 10s just for not falling over. I vividly remember the first season I watched when I was about 12, I was absolutely infuriated at the injustice of the best dancer by a mile being continually nitpicked and dragged over the coals for having had a few ballet lessons as a child, while everyone fell over themselves to praise the clunky AFL player for managing to stay upright. If I'm being generous I could say his showdance had maybe two dance steps at the start and otherwise was literally just him slowly plodding around the floor, waving his pro over his head. I will never be over it, I am still fuming #JusticeForArianne 😂

He stays for the money! He gets the U.K. average salary for three months work, and he doesn’t have to work really as he doesn’t have a partner.

Exactly: advance-record the pro dances, do a few musical guest performances, a bit of stuff on ITT, turn up to the studio on a Saturday night - as an hourly rate it probably works out really well.

I never understand the idea that all of the pros are desperate for a partner and/or desperate to win. Even the benched pros are banking a decent fee without having to do much, and compared to the average dancers’ income/former-pro earning potential they’re doing pretty well out of it.

I’m sure getting a celeb/winning is nice. But just earning a reasonable living is nice too 🤷‍♀️
