Will's getting in early with the 'I thought *this dance* was *this unrelated thing*' 😆

Bill Bailey set the bar pretty high on that one - apparently he ended up teaching Oti stuff about the evolution and history of each dance!

Yeah, I really liked that he got so much out of it. Each dance was a fresh learning opportunity in not just learning the routine but the underpinning knowledge of the dance, too. Better than playing the dunce, imo.

Ooh just seen that Dave Thorp has the pairings
(Apols if already shared I dropped off the last thread without realising)

I think you were on the money about Will @LowCalCalzoneZone - he’ll be a cheeky chappy ‘little bit wayy little bit woah’ until the first dance then he’ll be the cryer and the first to use the word ‘journey’

Is it bad that my I'm rating Will slightly less now I know he's with Nancy? I do quite like her as a personality, but she didn't really do much with Rhys last year - he started off as a good yet frantic dancer who couldn't master technique, and finished as a good yet frantic dancer who couldn't master technique.

Still think Will be a crier though

I'm a bit less excited for Will now. Nancy is VERY lucky IMO to get another good partner straight after Rhys. Yes he was frantic but he came in with dance ability and I'm not convinced she made the most of it, especially since he was so frantic all season to the extent that it was sometimes uncomfortable to watch, even Karim was more relaxed. Add to that that many pros have to pay their dues with a duffer or low middler in their first season or two (even Kai is doing so this year) and it's not like Nancy was such a hit on her debut that giving her a good partner was a must.

They should have put Will with Katya and Nancy with Tony. I think Tony would have endeared her to the public.

yeah, those two were my predictions. I hope it's not a case of putting Katya will an older bloke to avoid nasty comments (after all that stuff last year)

It’s no secret Rhys was too much for me last year. I do think he had good attributes to work with but looking back now, what he really needed was the right pro to tell him that he didn’t need to dance for 12 hours without a coffee break or get himself into a frenzy trying to make things perfect.

I definitely agree that Katya and Will would work better. He’s very different to Rhys, older than Rhys and while there’s a chance he’s trying to downplay his knowledge so he can surprise us with his excellent dancing, he could also be a complete novice and I’m not sure what Nancy could do in that situation.

I find it totally bizarre that he was doing 10-12 hour days without coffee breaks. I don't know why Nancy let him do that either, surely that's not normal for pros let alone celebs.

I think he wanted to be perfect and thought that would come by not stopping. A good work ethic is commendable and absolutely necessary…but I don’t think it’s a good way of getting the best from a contestant. It’ll be interesting to see how things work out for Will.
