As much as I enjoyed his partnership with Rose, I always thought it a bit odd that his fans loved the narrative of Rose softening him and now he's a changed man - because that was pretty much saying he was a bit of an hole before?

He has a 'schtick' of being a bit cold and strict and not really showing much of his real life personality, but I don't really know how that will suit him post-Strictly. Apart from continuing to be a bit of a pantomime version of himself on various panel shows. I do find him entertaining on Strictly, but just can't picture him being a sparkling TV personality outside of it. I know Oti's presenting skills aren't amazing, but she does have a very warm, infectious, sincere personality which puts her in a much better position I think

just about every Pro that leaves Strictly is thought by their fans to be going on to some sort of super TV career … have any of them actually managed it?

I kind of feel that when they try and diversify (which they have to as Strictly is the only real dancing telly programme), the go into crowded fields- acting, presenting etc. Even touring, there is someone newer, hotter coming around.
If you’re a pro dancer you aren’t generally going to have extensive training/experience in acting/presenting (beyond acting in dances) so you’re really trying to break into an already hard to crack career.

Yeah, I think in terms of really popular pros who have already left and who want/wanted to stay in the limelight, you have:

Anton - didn't actually leave, made sure he got promoted instead because he's knows that judges seat is his pension
Kevin - will probably stick to musical theatre, but even then their are younger, better all-round performers out there he's competing with
Oti - probably has the best chance of a long term TV career, but hasn't found the right role yet

Not that I don't think it's possible, but like you say, it's tough - simply just being a popular pro doesn't guarantee you a showbiz career automatically

And Janette who bagged It Takes Two. Got the impression that that may have been a longterm goal of hers, she'd been honing in her presenting skills for a while and I think saw that as the next step after hanging up the dancing shoes.

Sadly AJ's quest to stay in the limelight hasn't really been a success and I'm not really sure what Aljaž will do now he's out. I actually think that's the reason that Karen is still there, she might not really know what comes next.

I would refuse to see a show with a Clifton in it, Kevin or Jo. I can’t cope with either of them and their smug faces!

Yes I thought Aljaz would have something lined up to have left after all this time but he doesn’t seem to have

Imagine Joanne as a judge with those metaphors. I also remember someone saying that she'd had a disagreement with Craig over his judging with Stacey & Kevin in the semi-final and I think was writing technique on paper napkins.

The ex-pros who do best are the ones who move abroad, step away from trying to break into a ‘celeb’ niche or who set up a dance school: Camilla, Karen Hardy, Iveta, Tristan, and Darren and Lilia all seem to be doing pretty well overall (though Darren & Lilia are still Strictly-adjacent). Hell, even Hayley Holt is doing pretty well!

It’s the ones desperately chasing a showbiz career, like AJ ‘how’s Trish’ Pritchard and the Jordans, who end up haunting the bottom-tier of British reality tv and end up looking a bit tragic.

(I guess that’s why many of the departing female pros have the presence of mind to marry wealthy property developers 😉)

Quite a few of the pros mentioned there had gigs as judges on foreign versions of the show at one point so I guess that can be a good move for former pros, especially if there is a version in their home country. Not sure who of the current lineup is necessarily cut out for it though.

Despite doing a lot of low rent shows, even Ola Jordan judged on the Polish version for 2 seasons.
