I don’t find Katya smug at all. She’s an incredible dancer (absolute light years ahead of Karen) and has choreographed some really memorable routines. Even if they don’t hit the mark sometimes, I love that she doesn’t play it safe.

I think the Seann thing really affected her - she was really different and a bit kind of manic the following season but generally I think she’s fab.

I like Katya too. I think Seann was a disaster for her career. He was still mentioning her recently. Awful guy.
Her dances with Ed balls still bring me joy.

I loved her partnership with Ed Balls and I also love that her and Ed are still friends. She speaks so fondly of him

For me Ed Balls is what Strictly is all about.

Someone who has never danced, getting stuck in, doing their best, maybe not being the best of everyone, but going on the fateful "journey" falling in love with dancing. And clearly having the time if their life even when they are tit. And caring so much, even though it's "just dancing".
 
I really love Katya's choreography and admire that she really tries to adapt everything to someone's ability. She seems to bring a lot of fun to her routines so I always enjoy watching them regardless of who she's paired with for the most part. I can understand why she irritates some people though 😂

She's definitely brilliant choreographer. And a brilliant dancer.

But if I was a celeb on the show I'd be terrified of getting her as my pro, she scares/intimidates me. So did Oti. Nancy sacres me and Amy annoys me. Karen is okay. Dianne I just forget about.

So I'd need a Same sex partnership.

But not Gorka, because as much as I fancy him, he kinda scares/intimidates me as well. Gio is just slimy, so is Vito. Graziano seems sweet but I'm not sure and his hair is kinda 🤢.

Johannes would just irritate the duck out of me. I'm not a camp gay, and he would just be too much for me in large doses.

Neil, well, I'm not as anti-Neil as everyone else on the thread.

But my fav I'm too tall to dance with. But I just wanna dance with Nikita.
 
It's a real shame how Seann kinda stopped Katya's momentum but she gets the best out of any celeb she has and does great choreo.

Not really sure who she'll dance with this year, my guess is either of the actors, James or Will. Could do alright. But I hope she gets a proper ringer at some point in her tenure.

It was uncomfortable watching her the year with poor Mike Bushell, I agree. She looked perpetually tense and about to vibrate out her skin with nerves, and he was clearly longing for it to be over

Oh my, I'm not sure my nerves could take a 2 hour Strictly semi final on a Sunday evening. How strange!
 
The semi they’re moving strictly for is the one that has the potential to feature England. I did think this might happen when I worked through the fixtures earlier this year. The previous weeks quarter final they might have to move is also a potential England game. Also this might depend on tv allocations with ITV.

I think the thing I’m not always sure on with Katya is how she has a tendency to pad out some of her weaker weeks with a bunch of tricks and lifts (Janette was also guilty of this) that more showcase her than her partner.

Her wild enthusiasm looks so faked and makes me mute the tv, would happily lose her from the programme. Karen used to be as bad but has improved since splitting from KFG
 
I loathe Seann, he’s been nothing but awful about the whole thing, constantly bringing it up.

I felt for Katya at that time and still do- I can’t imagine how grim it is to have one lapse of judgement as my marriage was breaking down captured forever and constantly reshared and rehashed by the press and some Z list comedian.
 
Katya is one of my favourites though I can DEFINITELY see why people find her annoying and also smug. She just seems to be a bit more interesting and creative than the other female pros (and most of the men too). When she was on her daring choreography streak, she was amazing. I really hope she hasn't lost her confidence there as another season of her magic like the cabaret samba, that Matrix routine and even Ed's salsa would really freshen things up.

I like her lifts and tricks and I think they generally showcase her partner as they had plenty of "Ooh, how did they do that?" factor ie the Argentine tango lift with Joe McF could only have worked through teamwork.

If she could calm down with the screeching tho, we would all be v thankful.
