Which is PRECISELY why his agent got him on the show! 😁

I like Jayde and she's a very entertaining guest on comedy podcasts, but had to unfollow her during lockdown as she was getting increasingly annoying on her socials. Also intrigued as to what happened between her and Kiri Pritchard McLean - they used to do a podcast and events together and now don't follow each other

Also, she has absolutely no filter, so that will be fun to watch 😆. Can definitely see her working well with Johannes

I didn’t know she did a podcast with Kiri, I’ll have to check it out as I really rated Jayde in Alma’s not normal! I love All Killa, No Filla and usually enjoy Kiri but she has become quite sanctimonious of late I think, maybe Jayde thinks the same!

Aside from the already mentioned comments regarding his stance on trans athletes and his rent a womb baby. I think he could be a really cocky and stroppy type when getting criticism from the judges. He gives me vibes of having a real nasty streak in him. I don’t think he’s a particularly humble person either. It would turn into the Tom Daley show like the Olympics did. His sodding knitting ended up overshadowing some of our other divers.

I am not clear on what is wrong with a gay couple wanting a surrogate are they not allowed to have children with their own genes if they please?

I thought I saw Andrew Marr ( news correspondent/journalist) along with the Kym Marsh and someone else reveal! Maybe I misread it, but I could have sworn I saw his name and face on screen!
I am old and haven’t watched the show for several years, so could someone please explain the Mahoosive Ringah comment to me, please? I think it means someone who is a big show-off, but who knows!

I still need to watch Alma's Not Normal so this has given me an excuse to catch up. Yeah, they used to present the Amusical podcast where comedians discussed their favourite musicals, and then they had it as a show too, where they had guests perform a song from a musical. Maybe it was a bit of a personality clash?

I suspect Jayde will be pretty good on Strictly with her disco dancing background, but perhaps a tricky person to teach

I mean we joke about them having a formula for contestants but to be fair it’s usually a good mix even if you don’t know know who they are.

Can’t say I have an opinion of Richie or Kaye. I’ve never really come across them properly. Jayde I feel could have the potential to irritate me. I’ve never really found her funny.

The issue isn’t the child. It’s the commercial aspect that in the states (and elsewhere) you can essentially rent a womb with an implanted embryo.
A family member or close friend carry a child out of kindness is one thing but no money should be exchanged. Doesn’t matter if you’re gay or straight.

There’s horror stories out there of babies that were being carried by surrogates abandoned after being born with defects. Do you think that’s fair on a potentially vulnerable women ? I’ve got a real horror story of when commercial surrogacy goes wrong

It's just a term for someone who has a performing/dance background - your ex pop stars and those who have done musical theatre usually. And it's more often used as stick to beat female celebs with rather than males

Commercial surrogacy is fundamentally exploitative, premised on the capacity of wealthier individuals to pay for the use of the womb (with all the associated health risks) of a woman who is invariably less socioeconomically advantaged than the purchaser and generally less educated and has higher levels of financial insecurity.

The potential for exploitation of vulnerable women with limited options is the reason why commercial surrogacy is illegal in the UK. Which is the reason why TD and his wealthy older husband had to purchase surrogate services in the USA.

I think Andrew Marr has had some significant health complications in recent years (due to a stroke), and has had quite a lengthy road to recovery.

After the uncomfortableness of James Cracknell’s stint (not a stroke, but another form of brain injury), I’d feel quite anxious for Andrew Marr doing it, especially as he attributed the stroke to vigorous exercise. And after Robert Webb last year … 😬

I don't have a problem with it if the surrogate is a relative or friend of the couple who want to help them have a child, but when it's a random stranger they're paying, I find it a bit distasteful. (For straight couples too, to be clear.) How many surrogates really want to go through pregnancy and labour and hand the baby over to perfect strangers and how many are only doing it because they really need the money?

So are you saying that people who want children of their own should never be allowed one because you don’t agree with paid surrogacy? Some surrogates want to make people happy that are unable to have children there are plenty of documentaries and articles out there about people who do it for this reason

Thank you! Am I now down with the yoof?

Ah, I probably imagined seeing Andrew Marr’s name then, or saw someone else’s and misread it! Not sure what happened to James Cracknell and Robert Webb, could someone tell me what happened there, please?
Has Jenny Bond ( the former Royal Correspondent) been on yet? She seems to not take herself too seriously and could be a good older pick. Richard Osman or Alexander Armstrong could be good fun too- I think they would pick stuff up quickly as they are both very intelligent, but maybe struggle to actually apply said knowledge, and, if on at the same time, would have a friendly competition.

The knitting to me was attention seeking. As if he didn't know it would be talked about and who would bring knitting with them if they are there to watch and support the other divers.

I also clocked this a couple of months back. I hadn’t heard of Amusical on twitter (it used to pop up a lot) for a while and then spotted the rest.

none of my business but you can’t help but wonder what happened.

I think Jayde will be great on Scd

Their body their choice
I thought the same thing when I was a teenager, but I've since realised it's more complicated than that. It's not really their body, their choice, when money is involved. You can say the same thing about sex work, how many prostitutes who 'find it empowering' would really choose it if they didn't need the money?

I don't doubt there are a handful of women out there who truly don't mind the risk and have no emotional trauma from giving away the baby, just as there might genuinely be a handful of high-class escorts who have genuinely chosen and enjoy their jobs, but it doesn't change the fact that most commercial surrogacy, and most prostitution is exploitative to poor women.

Anyway, since I'm speaking as someone with no interest in having children, I suppose it's not entirely fair for me to judge the morals of someone who considers having a genetically related kid to be of vital importance, because I can't relate at all. But hey, life isn't fair, so I am going to judge them, a little bit. On an individual, case-by-case basis, it's great if it truly is the woman's choice. But since, a lot of the time, it isn't, and there are thousands of children being abused and neglected in the foster system, sorry but yeah, I'm always going to give a bit of a sideeye to any couple who chooses surrogacy over adoption, unless it's a family member or friend. I'm not going so far as to say anyone who's used a surrogate is pure evil, scum of the earth, but when a celeb does it, they're pretty much always gonna go down a little in my estimation. I admit that is a bit hypocritical of me, as I'm not taking in any needy waifs either, but hey ho. 🤷‍♀️

Thank you! Am I now down with the yoof?

James Cracknell, who was on a few years ago, had a brain injury that caused him a wide range of problems, physically and mentally. He was, unsurprisingly, a terrible dancer and went out first. There was a lot of controversy over the line between fair criticism and just bullying a disabled person for things they can't change. The whole thing was extremely uncomfortable, and IMO he should never have been cast. His limitations were simply too extreme to judge him fairly alongside the other contestants.

Robert Webb has a heart condition, and had had fairly recent heart surgery when he competed. He had to withdraw after week 3. Obviously multiple people made errors in judgement clearing him for it in the first place. Really shows how sometimes people who are very academically gifted can lack plain old common sense, because I, a random dumbass, thought 'what the everloving duck, he has a heart condition! Surely more than a few weeks of Strictly would be too strenuous and stressful for him?' when he was announced, and look at that, I was right and some top cardiac specialist was wrong.

And then there was whoever had the bright idea for a guy with joint abnormalities to jump off a table... (Will Bayley)

Basically, I would hope Strictly has learned its lesson by now about not casting (or at least being much more careful) people with serious health problems, but lbr, they probably haven't.
