I’m really not bothered about previous dance training. It does give an obvious advantage but it also gives us iconic routines - Faye’s CC, Alexandra and Jay’s jives, Maisie’s samba etc. And they almost never win anyway! I wouldn’t want to watch a series full of duffers.

Same here. I love a ringer, and I think this series has been a little poorer for not having had at least one contestant who can bring the ‘WOW’ with their dancing.

When people complain about prior training/experience, I wonder how riveted they’d actually be watching a series full of Quentin Wilson / David Dickinson / Jacqui Smith type of dancers being steered around the floor like errant shopping trolleys.

Indeed it does. However, there’s no evidence of this ever happening to Jay McGuinness or Caroline Flack following their dance training, though, or any evidence that either of them ever danced professionally.

You seem to be conflating ‘trained to a high standard’ with ‘professional’. As has been pointed out numerous times, ‘trained dancer’ and ‘professional dancer’ are not the same thing.

If nothing else, Molly having to dance next to Lauren does highlight the difference.

I don’t either. Tristan was my boy. I like them, they are all lovely but nothing that makes me want to put them on my Free 5 list

I don't care about all the 'mardy faces' tbh and usually he seems to be pretty good but I thought what he did last night was just... quite... boring.

When he's the verge of tears looks exactly like when someone in a soap is on the verge of tears and all his dialogue sounds too scripted it just seems so disingenuous.

Yes this is what I think . The beginning nine ofcthe series would be pretty much a turn off if it was a field of complete novices. Added to that, how would they count ' previous dance training'? Anyone who had been to stage school or drama school would have had some dance training, so almost no actor or singer would qualify. Can you imagine a series full of crap dancers who were all ex sports people, politicians and TV presenters? Boring.

Fleur looked beautiful last night and not one movement she made was "manly". It's unfair to see knives are still out for her, especially now Helen didn't get 40 for her CC (or quickstep, so Helen fans are using this to ride the "We Hate Fleur" train even harder). As for "aggressive", I'm sick of seeing that word related to women of colour.

Also, I'm gonna say it - Molly and Fleur are both better dancers than Helen.

This is such a non story! If strictly fans are really ' shocked' they haven't been paying attention for the past 20 years! The spoilers are spoiler tagged as far as I know on DS and here. Quite easy to avoid.

Tristan has to be up there as one of my favourite ever pros. He took his job seriously but knew that the show wasn't the be all and end all. Also, I'm slightly biased because he's Irish.

I just don't get why she doesn't sometimes use a mask from a jar or a tube? Why always a sheet mask? Also, you get so much more out of the ones in a jar.
