this is exactly it for me too, he’s never quite loosened up and allowed himself to enjoy it imo, it’s like he’s playing the role of will mellor on strictly rather than being himself. i do sometimes wonder if his mardiness is him getting annoyed with himself about how he feels it’s going, i’ve seen him interviewed on a few things (like i guess we all have!) and his personality there is completely at odds with how he’s coming across on the show. i do think he and nancy have a lovely partnership though.

(i will never forget daddy’s fine, especially when we then saw his teenage kids a week or two later. i get the sentiment but…. daddy’s fine)

how is motsi managing to still do such lovely footwork in those giant slippers 🤣

i say it all the time, but i wish we saw the judges dance more. i know craig maybe can’t so much, but shirley and motsi are 🔥 and anton too i suppose 🤣
Craig can just drag up and do a performance like he did a few years back.

I totally agree. I honestly think the Dinosaur Rumba (wtf?) was the hardest to pull off.

The Hamza conspiracies (not the legitimate criticism) are so tiresome and low IQ I just ignore them.
I see this same user on twitter every single week say that Hamza makes her feel uncomfortable to watch and makes her feel sick. Now, I absolutely understand that everyone has their own opinions and doesn’t have to like every contestant but to me this seems straight up racist. They said similar things about Fleur and other black celebs (not just ones on the show) yet are full of praise for the white contestants even when they have been mediocre.

To me, if you dislike someone that much yet can provide absolutely zero reasons why then it’s a race thing. They don’t even try to hide it anymore 🤮 Luckily social media only makes up a small percentage of strictly viewers so I would like to think there are millions more viewers that don’t think this way.

I think they might just be happy for her for being able to deal with that whole situation in her own way. To me, she's obviously been careful with everything because at the end of day she has kids with him and maybe she just doesn't want them to find anything negative that she said about him publicly and all that. Last night was her way to say what she needed to without actually having to say it. It probably felt a bit cathartic for her in a way.

i love those situations though, where there’s an unspoken nuance/message but you’ve still got deniability, it’s so passive agressive with the perfect air of class 😂😂. We know it’s a duck you to him. She knows it’s a duck you to him, he knows it’s a duck you to him, but he can’t say anything cause he’s the one that’ll look petty bitching about a dance 😂😂🤣🤣

I don’t know if it’s the lighting making Gio look grey but between that and the bank manager get-up he’s giving ‘suits you sir’

dw, i read your post again and completely missed the jokey tone of it so i apologise!

and the prima ballerina thing makes me think of that person on twitter who was convinced that maisie was a trained ballerina and shouldn’t be in the show based on one photo of her in a ballet class years ago. by that logic i’m a trained tap dancer!

i think a lot of the general public just don’t understand what stage school actually is, or that they think “doing musicals” means you’re a world class jazz dancer. a gifted musician (like bill for example) has just as much, or even more, of an advantage as someone who went to the now infamous ✨stage school✨

the only real unfair advantage we’ve had is ashley roberts imo. who was incredible and one of the best contestants we’ve had, but she was never going to be any different.
Jay McGuiness and Caroline Flack were both fully trained professional dancers.

Anton's very good at what Anton does. Leave him with ballroom and he's lovely to watch. He can't even say Samba though never mind dance it

i give him credit that he doesn’t shy away from how much he dislikes both the samba and the rumba 🤣 i would actually love to know what the other pros’ least favourite dances are - we focus so much on the ones they’re great at.

were they? what were their professional dancing jobs?
I’m not sure what dance jobs they have done. However they both completed 3 year professional dance and drama training at prestigious colleges. Caroline went to Bodyworks in Cambridge and Jay went MADD college in Nottingham. So would have done around 30 hrs a week for 3 years of Ballet jazz tap contemporary commercial as well as singing and acting.

On more than one occasion he described the ‘sarrrmbar’ as ‘a very silly dance’.

I don’t necessarily disagree with him on that: it can tend towards the Heimlich manoeuvre combined with a painful case of piles.

neither of those things mean they’re professional dancers though, just that they did drama/performing degrees.

i did a creative writing degree and that (sadly) does not make me an actual novelist.

So they had dance training (which has been well documented, for them and for numerous others on the show), but there’s no evidence of either of them ever dancing in a professional capacity?

Are you using the term ‘professional’ to mean ‘trained’. If so, I’m a ‘professional’ musician, singer, dancer, writer and counseller, despite having never been paid for any of those activities, and I need to update my CV asap!

Well both my daughters did the same dance 3 year course and I can honestly say if you complete the course you would have a massive advantage over someone who hasn’t danced. Otherwise what’s the point of the training if you come out at the end of it not being able to be good enough to perform professionally. Also, the level you have to be to be able to get a place on the course is high.

Even if someone with training(I’m talking three year professional school here not someone who did disco classes at the village hall when they were 10) hasn’t necessarily done a professional dance job they’re still at a slight advantage over someone who’s never danced a day. They have basic dance knowledge that’s second nature… things like posture and turn out don’t need teaching because it’s been drilled into them since they were tiny. Being able to take choreography on bored quickly and being capable of more complex choreography all help.
