Shirley's such an odd one. She can be a real cow and a perv, but she's got massive Drunk Auntie energy outside of the show.
The best thing I've seen her on was Taskmaster, they did a one-off New Years Treat episode in 2020 with her and a few others, and she was just...mental. Started a task by making innuendos about fitting a pole through a donut and only got filthier from there. Spent half the episode cackling, feeling things up and terrorising a lollipop man.

And then I think they'd got them on the sauce before they went into the studio, and she was blatantly making the eyes at all 6 ft 8 inches of Greg Davies in a manner that clearly intrigued and terrified the man. It was superbly weird TV.

Just an example my daughter had to learn a basic waltz for a musical she was in. It took about 2 hours and she had it down. I’m not saying she was like a strictly pro just that she could dance it well and looked decent. The same with a salsa she had to learn for a different show. Dancers adapt very easy to different styles etc.

Even if someone with training(I’m talking three year professional school here not someone who did disco classes at the village hall when they were 10) hasn’t necessarily done a professional dance job they’re still at a slight advantage over someone who’s never danced a day. They have basic dance knowledge that’s second nature… things like posture and turn out don’t need teaching because it’s been drilled into them since they were tiny. Being able to take choreography on bored quickly and being capable of more complex choreography all help.

Someone with dance training will absolutely have an advantage over someone without, that’s indisputable.

But ‘dance trained’ and ‘professional dancer’ are not the same thing.

Shirley was AWESOME on that. As was Rylan. 🤩

Dance trained and Professional dancer and two very different things, Pro dancers (I mean this generally not just strictly pros) are the very top end of the profession with Competition experience and huge about of paid professional work in the CVs.
If we take a look at Jowita, a new Pro, she had years of competing and winning, touring around the world with Burn the floor for years as well as a lot of stage work. Someone with a few years of dance training is nowhere near a Pro dancer standard.

For me if I see a really wonderful dance even done by a ringer or someone with stage and dance experience if I go and compare it to two Pro dancers doing similar it will immediately pale in comparison because nothing comes close to practicing and finessing those basic steps for years and years.
Which is why it's very rare for someone to become a Pro dancer if they haven't started by their early teens.

I understand what you are saying but you can walk out of college and straight on the west end which happens regularly. So are they any less a dancer than someone who graduated 3 years previous. Also, to get accepted into these colleges the majority have trained since the age of 4. You only have to go and watch a graduate showcase at a prestigious college to see for yourself.

Indeed it does. However, there’s no evidence of this ever happening to Jay McGuinness or Caroline Flack following their dance training, though, or any evidence that either of them ever danced professionally.

You seem to be conflating ‘trained to a high standard’ with ‘professional’. As has been pointed out numerous times, ‘trained dancer’ and ‘professional dancer’ are not the same thing.

OK I need to fess up to something.....I don't find any of the male pros sexy/attractive/shaggable! Sorry

Same here. 🤷‍♀️

I'm exactly the same! I just don't get the fuss over Gorka's arse ...

I don’t know why there’s such panting over Gorka’s arse either.
Though I do know that I’m sick of him proffering it for votes like he’s angling for trade in a window in Amsterdam.

I waffled a lot but the core of what I was getting at is, Looking good on stage and doing a lovely passable Waltz is very different to say watching Erin and Anton doing a Waltz on stage. If you had both couples side by side doing the same dance the audience of average joes would immediately be able to point out the Pros.

This isn't just down to amount of hours etc people who have stage and general dance tuition are taught in a different way to a 10 dancer there are different elements that are focused on and that shows.

Don't know what Gorka was doing crawling on the floor in the Clauditorium yesterday, I do think that's maybe a tad tacky. Aljaž eventually became a bit silly as he became a senior pro, the same must be happening to Gorka.

Still loved the dance though.

Do you think the senior Pros get a bit unnerved when suddenly there is a new crop of dancers creating a bit of a buzz? Suddenly they realise their final curtain is getting closer?

I didn’t notice the middle finger !

The Confessional booth is still open from last night then :ROFLMAO:

We have taken vows of silence and non judgement for confessions made here on Strictly Tattle.

However if anyone enters the confessional booth and admits to finding Neil attractive (apart from you Mr Jackson) I will report them to the mods.

I’m really not bothered about previous dance training. It does give an obvious advantage but it also gives us iconic routines - Faye’s CC, Alexandra and Jay’s jives, Maisie’s samba etc. And they almost never win anyway! I wouldn’t want to watch a series full of duffers.

I am always gutted when there isn't at least 1 ringer, Faye and Ashley in the same year felt like a gift.
