Oh guys I really hope Helen’s samba is much better than her other Latin dances have been or I think she could maybe be in trouble? It’s so tight if she’s at the lower end of the leaderboard she could be in the dance off? I know she’s got lots of votes but Will and Ellie aren’t as good dancers and have never been in the dance off. If she doesn’t get it right with Kim away she could end up in the dance off with Molly and that could be the end of that?! 😩

I think she’ll probably be fine- at this stage I think public vote can still scoop a bottom of the board dance and I think if Helen is in danger some of Ellie T’s vote would go to her. I’m thinking of Lauren Steadman post-Blackpool that did a not great Salsa and was fine.

Helen’s samba song is cute and catchy on a first listen so that will hopefully help. I think Fleur’s Rumba will be great but I’m always prepared to be wrong. I think Brown Eyed Girl for a Jive is a bit naff, but it fits with the theme of Ellie’s other naff music so it’s on brand. I feel for her a bit, it’s almost like Helen got all the fun, poppy songs so she got stuck with the rest.

It's going to be close, but I'm hoping they'll be ok. The track is fun and upbeat which should suit her.

I think Ellie is most in danger, although I've been saying that for weeks. Just a sense, like with Tony, that she's had a good run but everyone else is quite clearly much better than her

LL is insinuating on DS that the pros don't get any control over their choreo any more and have a lot of input from Gilkison and team. Is that true? I can't fathom how pro dancers (who let's face it, likely have a bit of ego on them) would let someone else interfere considerably with their work. And all of the pros do still seem to have their styles - a Giovanni routine never looks the same as an Amy routine for instance.

It’s definitely true. Gilkinson and his team are the ones who choreograph the showdances as well these days.

Haven’t we suffered enough?

I think her opinion may be slightly influenced by the fact that she doesn't want to accept Gio can have an off day like everyone else. Ok, so he probably didn't choose the Timon and Pumba theme but he probably did choreograph a pretty crap routine to it

I think Helen is safe. I imagine Fleur will be in the DO as she probably has to top the LB to avoid it, as does Molly. If Ellie somehow avoids the DO again even with a possibly mediocre jive, then it'll be Fleur-Molly, with Fleur probably going on rumba v tango odds..

What are LL and DS? Or am I being thick?

I’m split, I think technically he will probably nail it, but I’m not sure about whether he’ll get the chemistry of the dance. I totally think he can be sexy, but the acting in the AT is that simmering sexual energy and I think that’s much harder to act alongside doing a complex dance compared to romance or goofy.

That said, I didn’t expect to be wowed by Rhys last year but I loved his AT.
I agree- really hoping the complexity doesn't throw him off

Sad Kym won't be performing this week, I was interested to see what her CC was going to be like.

I'm most scared for Fleur. A rumba's hard to top the leaderboard with, and lots of people are holding a grudge against her for last week's perceived overscoring. If the wider voting public's opinion is anything like the majority of DS's she's screwed.

Hoping for Mollie and/or Fleur to be at the top of the leaderboard, hopefully keeping at least one of them out of the dance off. I'd like to see Ellie in Musicals Week, but not at the cost of Molly or Fleur. If they're both in the dance off I'll be livid.

Prayer circle for the Charleston to claim another victim...

DS is Digital Spy, which has a big Strictly forum. The spoiler often comes from there.. LL is LadyLavender, doyenne of DS, who is (a) Gio's biggest fan (b) his diary-keeper/PA and (c) scourge of other, inferior, Italian pros.

I don't think the antipathy to Fleur for getting the sacred 40 is anything like as bad outside DS, as I've seen loads of positive comments online, but yeah there is risk of a backlash, though maybe offset a bit by some new fans? Re: Molly not sure if she'll get the DO bounce again, and a tango will help, or if people might think it's time for her to go..
