With Jayde due to do her CC this week, I'm guessing when they realised she might not make it to week 7, then they decided to include her sister's story in her AS VT instead. Although I wouldn't have put it past Strictly to do another VT about it if she had made it this far

on the subject of CCs, I imagine the producers are kicking themselves for missing out on Ellie's now too - dancing aside, she has a very inspirational story that would have been ideal Strictly CC VT material

Disabled people don’t need to be inspiration porn though.

I think Tony done a good job to recover the faults. It was a supremely difficult routine with a lot of technical elements. The judges were so harsh and didn’t comment on how complex a routine it was! Shame. If it had been danced properly I think that routine would have been amazing and brought the house down!
They’d have been all over them like a cheap suit if there hadn’t been much content! That’s the ticket with Katya - no shirking and if you work hard, you can do it (even if your head tells you you can’t)

Sorry to derail for a moment, but sending love to those who are feeling bereavement especially right now. I am too, and if I come over as sarcastic that’s me, but especially that’s me just now. It’s coming up to what would have been a significant birthday for my dad, then the anniversary of him dying. I don’t mean to be mean, but I just felt Jayde’s emotions were thrown at me every week, but I didn’t feel like Fleur’s grief was thrown at me and left for me to deal with. When I watch Strictly especially in Nov/Dec I want to just switch off from how I’m feeling for a while if that makes sense. I’m not saying people shouldn’t express emotions, stiff upper lip is not always good.
Anyway much love to those who are struggling in any way. Just know you’re not alone

Yes I love the way she never ever thinks 'right I've got a duffer here - I'll go the easy route'. She sees potential and obviously gets frustrated when they don't appear to take it as seriously as she does.
She is the best professional by some measure for that reason.
Makings of a judge?

I can see her being an excellent judge one day. If she could just have one more glorious series of amazing choreography with a receptive, expressive dancer like she had with Joe McF first 🙏🏿

Sending you lots of love Hugh ❤️. It’s so tough isn’t it, and I think you’ve hit the nail on the head - escapism is certainly what I’m looking for too and I think that’s why I’m enjoying watch Hamza dance - he’s almost hypnotic! I can feel myself smiling when he’s dancing

I agree. She definitely doesn't go the route of dancing all around them and letting them stand still!

I think Tony mentioned something about 50 hour weeks, which sounds fairly gruelling.
Mind you he didn't complain about his sore feet - unlike Will. 😁

I think as said upthread Tony falls back on being self-deprecating when things go wrong for him. I haven't watched last night's performance yet but I have gone back and watched last week's from Tony and Katya which I loved.

Craig commented about him being a sportsman on ITT and that in his heart and soul he wants to win. I hope he lasts for another while tbh, because he and Katya have entertained me once the first night was over when he looked quite terrified.

Thank you Lenny, it is tough, even though it’s been over 30 years. I totally agree about Hamza, he’s a great dancer, but more importantly he just seems to be a delightful human being. I’d love to real life friends with him and Jojo, Jowita and some of the others.
Sorry for derailing, I didn’t mean to bring down anyone’s mood. There was some cracking and some not so cracking dancing last night.

I thought Kym was fantastic last night, and Helen also stood out.
Tyler has become very one note and his posture is terrible.
I‘m not over keen on all the mentions of dead relatives, unless it is done like Matt in his leaving speech (I still wish he had stayed in longer).
The final four are now looking to me like Hamza, Helen, Will and Kym.
Re names, there are two ways to spell my name, both pronounced the same. Some of my family have always spelt it wrong and I’m 61 now! Doesn’t matter how many cards or messages I sign, they answer me with the other spelling.

Another thought I have re Tony is that last week he came on first and knocked it out of the park. Coming on last this week meant he had almost two hours to think about what was to come and am guessing he spent most of that time overthinking and got over stressed. Not saying a special concession should be made for contestants, it’s just my feeling that waiting is more difficult for Tony than it is for others, I expect he regularly attends meetings where time management would be discussed and he is very much aware about what time to spend doing certain things, he loses this control on Strictly.

I thought Katya looked defeated tbh, she's putting the hours in with Tony and giving him routines to dance to and not just fannying about. Must be soul destroying seeing it all go to pot on the night and them having to stand there listening to all the laughter and dismissive unhelpful comments from the judges. I really felt for her last night.
I really felt for her last night. She must be so frustrated because she cares so much. I think the worst part is the judges laughing in their faces every week. Its rude and disrespectful when they're putting in 40-50 hour weeks. Katya posted a pic of her and the salsa choreographer working hard last Sunday to put the dance together so she has worked non stop this week. The judges turn up for one day in hair and make up and can't even be bothered to make professional comments.
Plus it annoys me that Anton slags off his past celebs. Again its just so rude. Yes he had a lot of non dancers but he didn't do a lot to help them. Hes basically laughing at the fact hes a rubbish teacher.

i find that a little annoying from anton too. yes, we get it, but he was more than happy to play into comedy with them rather than actually creating complex routines like katya does. i like him most the time but i agree that’s bad form.

i felt for both tony and katya last night. like chas says, i think he falls back on being self-deprecating and making fun of himself, which must be frustrating when she sees how hard he’s working, only for him to then be “oh no i was a bit rubbish” as a defence mechanism. i absolutely get why he does it, but i equally get why katya might find it frustrating.

I feel Anton is beyond rude regarding his feedback on Tony, especially remembering how he used the comedy/ easy route with the majority of his celebrities, including Ruth, who tbf he could have pushed a little harder. I think Tony needs to hear how much he’s improved, how complicated the dance was etc, then the constructive criticism. That’s what’s pissing Katya off I think, that they just laugh, which is rude!

Exactly. Anton chose the comedy route and didn't stretch them as far as they could and then sits mocking others who genuinely try.
I have an issue with any of the pros comparing or slating their celebs openly. I think it's massively unprofessional to say one is better than the other, or you prefer dancing with one over the other, or one works harder than any other celeb. All celebs I bet worked hard while they were there and things aren't always equal. Some have to keep up their jobs or look after kids. They put their trust in the pro and that should be honoured.
