I thought Ellie S would make it to Blackpool but she probably only had a couple more weeks left and I'd guess a lot of her votes went to Ellie T instead last night. I'm sad to lose Nikita who deserves a run at the glitterball in 2023.

Molly is such a beautiful dancer but she has the disadvantage of having a very small pre-existing fanbase and being a celebrity who fades into the background the moment she's finished dancing. There's bound to be a Fleur vs Molly dance-off soon and it'll be interesting to see who the judges save (we can all guess Shirley's vote already...)

I wonder if this dance-off might start to be the beginning of the end for Tony. He improved as a dancer last week but this week's routine was poor and post-Blackpool is typically when the audience's patience with the comedy contestants starts to run out. I think Ellie T will go next week but I can see Tony going at Blackpool or the week after.

BIB- I would do that too. 🤣

It's a bit like when someone at work repeatedly spells your name wrong in an email even though it's right there in front of them in both your email address and signature.

It's disrespectful to say the least not to get someone's name right. Does she do it deliberately, I wonder.
She should write down all the names if she can't remember them. 🙄
It exactly is. They say her name multiple times in the show beforehand never mind the fact that she has been on the same show as her for years. Its blatant disrespect to call her the wrong name over and over again.

I didn’t mean to be disrespectful when I referred to it as a “sob story” - it isn’t a great term and apologise if I’ve offended anyone. But, I didn’t appreciate it when Jayde spoke about her sister and I didn’t appreciate it last night - in fact, less so with Fleur. She hasn’t deserved to be in a dance off, she certainly didn’t deserve any hassle and abuse re last week’s dance off…but I’m afraid I think it was a blatant attempt to get votes. I might have missed it but I don’t remember saying it at the start (which you might have expected if it was her dad’s favourite show) but I’m happy to be corrected. She’s competitive and wants to win, I do get that. But showing pictures is very emotive and imho, CC is the opportunity to pay a fitting tribute to a loved one.

She’s a great dancer and I understand her frustration at being in the dance off when other less competent dancers have sailed through. But I feel how I feel and I don’t like it - and wouldn’t if it was Tony or Hamza or anyone else.

I'm not a fan of the stories designed to pull on the heart strings. I do like to see the celebs care and that they get invested in doing well and I don't mind a quick mention of family but not to have great granny Hyacinth dragged onto the telly for effect etc. There's a fine line between the stories being interesting and a turnoff and in recent years its been mostly the latter for me.

I remember when Fleur was announced, she said she was doing it for her dad and was emotional about him.

I didn't like her VT story last night but having said that I think it might be the way its been edited. I heard her speak on the radio earlier in the week and they were asking her about being in the DO and how she gets over that. She spoke about how since her dad died she's realised that these things aren't really that bad, and that she knows she can pick herself up and push through now. She said that its put everything else in perspective for her. I thought she spoke really well and I felt more for her in that interview.

And I can see how SCD production are not going to show a celeb VT say the DO isn't the end of the world and how that might skew what Fleur was saying so that she comes across as too competitive or desperate.

There was a drama about that, I don’t know how they did it but she sang it before Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson released it, so it got rush released and Mark Ronson was understandably annoyed about and I don’t think Fleur helped matters by saying it got to number 1 thanks to her.
Surely it wouldn’t have been her who picked that song and the producers fault for letting her sing a song that wasn’t released yet.
I actually heard her perform uptown funk live at a charity event a while back and she was very good. I know she hasn’t had many hits but she can sing.

i am super sensitive about it (like i said in the thread last night 🤣) - i have a frankly ridiculous french name that i still have no idea how my welsh parents came up with. it has a “british” version which is easier to say and so many people say that instead and go “well, it’s the same thing!” it’s not my name! so rude and i spend half my life correcting it 🤣

i don’t know if it’s deliberate but she’s been on the show long enough and gets at least two prompts about her name before she speaks. as said above, i liked motsi and anton both making a point of saying dianne in their feedback after her.

I swear Anton said Diana as well! (Hence my previous post haha) I thought he said it in kind of a rushed way almost like he didn't know whether to point out that Shirley was wrong or not 😅

a mystery! i’m rewatching later with my mum so i’m going to make a point of listening out for this 🤣

i could see him sort of mumbling it in a not wanting to point out shirley’s mistake kind of way!

I know what you mean.
I have a very ordinary name for which there are two very slightly different spellings.
Literally one extra letter.

I worked with someone with the exact same name, with the other spelling (the extra letter) and she constantly spelt my name incorrectly in emails.

I may or may not have occasionally done likewise in return, with hers. Maybe... 🤣

I’m pretty sure shirls just has something against Dianne because she manages to get every other pro and celebritys name correct. You never hear her call Katya Katie or nadiya Natalie or Vito victor. I could forgive her if it was both their first season and it was the first episode but both have been working together for six years. There’s no excuse I’m pretty sure she did it on occasions last year too.

okay because i’m weird i went into iplayer and he says “dianne will have….” when talking about tyler giving her more room on a side-step. so it sounds like diana because he talks pretty fast and the two words blur a bit, but it’s definitely dianne.

motsi also makes a real point of saying DIANNE afterwards too 🤣🤣 poor shirley.

I think Tony done a good job to recover the faults. It was a supremely difficult routine with a lot of technical elements. The judges were so harsh and didn’t comment on how complex a routine it was! Shame. If it had been danced properly I think that routine would have been amazing and brought the house down!

I thought I would be indifferent to Kym - I should add I know nothing about her except from when I used to watch Corrie years ago, and disliked the character she played.

I think in the early stages she held herself back in her reactions to being voted through, or not, as a kind of self preservation. I also think she expected to be gone early doors. But a week or two ago, she really showed her delight at going through which was totally genuine, and an unexpected 'letting go' for her.

The judges at times criticised stuff such as one night Shirley and possibly Anton also said she lacked stamina. Craig however contradicted whoever said it, and while obviously the judges are the experts, and I most certainly am not, I definitely did not see anything that suggested she lacked stamina. Nor did Craig!

I think she works really really hard, and I have enjoyed all of her dances. I havent caught up yet on last night.
I love seeing her and Graz on ITT. They have a great partnership. I think she deserves to get to the final.
Im not usually a Kym fsn at all but Ive warmed to her. She's putting the work in

There were moments in the dance when he didn't go wrong where you could see how hard he'd worked. I think Shirley said something along the lines of that. Even with all the mistakes, compare him to how he was at the start and Katya has done an amazing job with him. I hope they won't be disheartened - next week will be ballroom where he can do a nice no frills routine.
