Isn’t it usual for the audience to sign NDAs?

This sounds like an absolute nothing story deliberately twisted by The Sun. They are such arseholes.

I feel bad for Fleur as stuff like this takes away from the experience, I voted for her for the first time at the weekend and will continue to.

It might be but it was mentioned as being unusual, in the past all I've ever heard about is the audience giving a stern talking to not ruin the fun for others by talking about it.

God knows, it could all be a pile of shite but even if it’s true it literally says James isn’t arsed anyway. I hope it’s not the producers trying to drum up publicity (this series has been on the dull side) and using Fleur as collateral damage.

ETA: supposedly it was an issue with the chair and they fell before they had even started dancing. So a total non-issue.
James was doing his last dance before the dance off. Mentally he was over the hills and far away, sat in front of the tele with a hot chocolate and a packet of hobnobs. Having to do another week would be his worst nightmare.

The BBC should've shown the incident rather than tried to hide it imo. I would've been fine with Fleur starting again but they shouldn't have hidden it. She fell, it wasn't her fault but this may well cost her her place in the competition.
I don't think they should have shown it, especially if they were hurt. But some kind of statement wold have been good. The problem is that they want to pretend it's live, otherwise they could just say at the end 'Fleur was allowed to restart following a fall'

Pardon my ignorance, but in these circumstances how would an NDA be enforceable or enforced? DS have usernames like here, so would BBC lawyers have to ask DS or Twitter to hand over details of who is behind accounts? They’d surely have to go through all the contacts of all members of the audience and crew, because say I was there I could text someone on DS say and they might post the spoiler? I mean that all seems labour intensive for information that would be out there within 24 hours. Again sorry for being stupid

You're not being stupid, NDAs aren't worth the paper they're written on... as you say anyone can be anonymous online and post what they like without it being linked to their attendance at the show - it's literally unenforceable and the producers just rely on good faith & the pretence of "risk" when they get people to sign them

I really don't like Lauren's short hair - well i think it would look better if fringe/front was longer.

From the little I've seen, Michelle's the better dancer but Lauren might have the personality scd prefer.

Re age of celeb men (and women), isn't there usually only 1 young 20 something and the rest are 30/40+

No, we didn’t have to (2017 though). You weren’t allowed to take your mobile into the studio, you had to leave it with them and get it on the way out. The guy mentioned Strictly Spoiler in between takes/live filming a lot and encouraged everyone to boo (again) and said how it spoiled Strictly for so many people etc. But nothing to sign.

I don't get the BBC 'conspiracy' to keep Fleur in? Surely it would make more sense to keep in the BBC employee James if things were being manipulated?
If Fleur falling at the beginning and having to start again is true (which sounds perfectly reasonable tbh) then that might explain why James kept mentioning the 'amazing Fleur East' in his leaving speech and on ITT.

Yeah I’m a bit confused by it too. Unless they’re fearing some big backlash from Shirley’s obvious dislike of her, then I don’t see why they would single her out for saving. She’s not getting the votes so why when they’re happy to overmark people is that suddenly a problem?

I haven’t read the article and wouldn’t so I’m maybe picking it up wrong but it sounds like someone making a mountain out of a molehill, potentially putting Fleur in a horrible position. And after Jamelia and Peter Andre, they should know better than to hide something like this - especially if it’s all above board

I really don’t buy that the Strictly producers are getting several hundred people to hastily sign NDAs (which has been pointed out are basically unenforceable practically). These things pretty much always leak somehow, and I imagine the lack of much juice this series was extra appealing for whoever did. Poor Fleur though, that’s pretty rough.

Just like it with the injury/illness thing, it always amazes me a bit that a juggernaut like Strictly doesn't have proper contingency plans in place if something goes wrong, rather than simply keeping their fingers crossed.

Does anyone remember the Melvin/Anastasia dance off that didn't happen because Anastasia couldn't do her dance again? I can't remember all the details, but it sounded like it was several hours of everyone running around like headless chickens before deciding to go with who had the lowest public vote - they should have plans in place to so they definitely know what to do in case someone is injured

At least Melvin got a Christmas special win out of it 🤣

Yeah, surely they must anticipate something going wrong in the DO? And I can't imagine they're suddenly typing up NDAs at the last minute after Fleur falls. Clearly if she'd been injured they'd have had to make a decision about who stayed.
I hope this will fizzle out - I can see people being angry if it were, say, Tony who'd left, but who is checking for Martin Fowler?

Also this! though I saw a few gammons on Twitter allege that it's a woke conspiracy etc and the black contestant had to be saved..
It's now hit the Fail and of course there are comments along those lines.

They’re going to be talking about the dance off on Good Morning Britain but they haven’t said the time. Vick Hope is doing the entertainment this week so I’m looking forward to her take if she’s covering it

BBC have apparently said they were allowed to restart because they had “not begun their dance” yet 🤷🏻‍♀️

GMB have been looking into it and say they’ve spotted a ‘subtle different fall’ was broadcast - the one where the Janette samba flick in her back thing went wrong that wasn’t that subtle - so is the issue The Scum thinking Fleur thinking should have gone home because of the mistake?

I don’t think there’s a conspiracy to either vote Fleur out or keep her in tbh, it’s more likely an insider has leaked it because they know it’ll drum up some much needed publicity for what’s been a very uneventful series. I don’t think strictly or the sun care about Fleur and Vito at all, they’re just being used as pawns. I hope people see through it and throw her a few votes on Saturday.
