I still can’t get over there only being two Waltzes so far at Halloween week! It’s that automatic assumption that the public don’t want to see ballroom so much - without taking into account that people of all ages would still rather see that.

I personally would take out the Paso Doble and the Salsa but understand that for the finalists, if the series is 27 weeks long then you need to keep them in
I’d keep the standard 10 dances, and tinker with the rest.
I’d keep the AS on hold until the actual base dance had been done and not use it as an instead of.
same with the VW - not an alternative for the waltz.
keep AT for the semi finals.
ditch Couples Choice.
use the Charleston for a second dance for all in the quarter finals.

I can't remember who asked me why I thought James and Amy don't like each other, I've just rewatched (I know what a masochist) and I think rather he is stressed and over it and Amy is just pulling her usual ott grin. His comments about it not being the first time he'd heard the I'm buzzing joke and about his poor back were more strained than jokey. There was also the grumpy face and talking when the saved couples were talking last week. Doing Eastenders and training with Amy would be enough for anyone.

But luckily for him he doesn't have to worry about it anymore. I really hope his exit song is Bye Bye Bye.

I always feel the Eastenders cast members always get forced into it plus they don't seem to get much time off for training either

What were jaydes bitter comments? I’m behind
On Twitter she was quote tweeting people who hadn’t necessarily been mean, just saying she wasn’t their cup of tea, hadn’t tagged her, essentially causing her fans to pile onto the original poster. She did receive some nasty comments. Jayde did come over as gutted to be leaving, which is fair enough as she’s a self confessed super fan, but she wasn’t particularly gracious, or accepting of the fact that she’d been eliminated

Do you think that maybe it’s mainly women who vote, and they tend to vote for who they fancy? I can see in Tony’s case, for example, that he might get some dedicated Arsenal fans voting, where they wouldn’t normally bother. But I wonder what the demographic is for people who do actually bother to vote? I don’t suppose there’s any way of knowing really.
It’s definitely a popularity contest as much as a talent one; but that’s always going to be the case with a show where there’s a public vote involved.

Yes because that’s the only reason women would vote 🙄 I voted for 3 women last night. Some of us might actually… vote for the dancing we like! Imagine that! 😱

Just caught up. If its not an Ellie S and James DO then I won't know what to say...

The only good think about Ellie and Nikita was his thighs in that squat position, cos I walk the dog with more content than that routine. And James is just dull, with a horrendous routine.

I thought Tony, Fleur and Kym all really wowed me, Tony and Kym for their progress and I'm actually warming to Fleur. Hamza and Helen were perfect as always. Ellie T too, though I'd have liked more dancing. I did love it though, especially seeing as I missed it live last night because I was at a party dressed as Sarah Sanderson! Sistaaaas!

I don't think it's that controversial to say that in general Strictly viewers (and other reality TV shows often) have been harder on women than men. A lovable male duffer will be cut more slack. So it's not just about fancying, but often women have to be the 'girl-next-door' type like Helen to do really well (look at the last two female winners, Rose and Stacey).

I agree with everyone here, it’s time for a shake up. For me, who sees themselves as a strictly expert having watched every year 😉 I would suggest:

- Max 12 celebs, it only now that the shows aren’t seeming like a total slog
- Sort the pros out. Stop picking from a pool of so you think you can dance winners and go back to proper ballroom and Latin champions etc
- swerve couples choice
- Bring back a 50/50 split on ballroom and Latin each week and leave Argentine tango and Charleston until the quarter final
- 2 themes a year- Halloween and then one that changes every year
- get rid of the VTs we don’t need them

Go back to the good old days, no stupid VTs, get rid of Jason Gilkison and the BTF mob and no gimmicky props. Have a clear out
I’ve watched since series 1 and I agree with all of the above.

I’d add:

Get rid of Gilkinson and his LSD-addled pro dances. Go back to the pros doing recognisable ballroom/Latin routines and showcasing the moves that should be seen in each dance

Have a standard content requirement for each dance: for example, you can’t call it it cha cha (and be awarded a 10) for a couple of lock steps and a New Yorker.

Stop prodding everyone into sobbing about how it’s the greatest experience of their lives, wah wah wah. It’s dancing on the telly for money and a career boost 🙄

Have also watched from Series 1 and I agree with all of the above.

Even my 6 year old recently lamented there had been too few pretty dances like the Waltz. I would take out the Rumba so few of them can do a decent one.

Antneeee Murreeeeee!!!!

(bloody hell, I’ve said about 5 comments today that really show my age - for all you whipper snappers, Ray Quinn was a child actor who played Anthony Murray in Brookside (ask your mum) and I think did the X Factor and Dancing on Ice. BRB, away to set my VHS to record Bullseye so I don’t miss it when I’m having a bath for going back to school tomorrow 😩)

I saw Ray Quinn at the dancing on ice tour (my mum made me go I swear!) years after he had done the show he was as good as the professionals! I know he has some ballroom experience but even so he was really good.
