Trying to be as objective as possible (because Helen and Gorka are my favourites), but I can see why she is resonating with the public -

she's not the most outgoing personality, but I think a lot of people like a no-nonsense, unshowy northerner

She's showing lots of improvement and taking what the judges say on board, especially with the performance side of things (she looked so nervous the first couple of weeks compared to the last two) and she looks like she's really enjoying it now and wants to be there

I think a lot of people might appreciate that she isn't using a sob story in spite of her circumstances

I get she's not everyone's cup of tea and I understand why she's getting the bland comments, but I think there's a lot to be said for the public clicking with a contestant who just works away with a good attitude and improves
As another one who’s favourites are Helen and Gorka I agree with every word of this.
I did say earlier I think they have had the short straw with music every week. They’ve never had a banger of a song and I think Gorka is one of those pros who still focuses on the content of the dance and making sure it’s jam packed full of content rather than tricks and gimmicks and I think that’s why sometimes their dances can actually be more forgettable even though they’re probably technically the best. I also think Gorka is eternally undermarked.
I don’t often agree with James Jordan but he thinks really highly and is always saying how clever his choreography is etc.

I can be guilty of this with Gorka to be honest. I’m not always a technically-minded viewer and so sometimes things do look a bit twee and safe without taking into consideration that actually, it takes a lot to get to that and not all dances are about ambitious lifts or faffing or padding out.

Not to put you on the spot and I’d be interested to see other people’s views too. Do you think there’s a reason Gorka and partners are overmarked? Is it something not to be read into and separate from the benching, or do you think he’s a very talented choreographer who they hold him to a higher standard?

The judges are too inconsistent to be true. I think Anton is only bothered with footwork when it’s ballroom and doesn’t judge the Latin as techically.
Motsi is a sucker for some tricks and extra content and shimmies.
Shirley loves footwork but if you are a woman you are judged more harshly.
Craig is honestly really hard to see what he wants right now.

I think Gorka has had some really talented dancers, Alexandra and Maisie and I actually think the judges were tougher on them because they were so talented. There would be people out there plodding along doing ok and there’s Maisie out there giving it her absolute all and doing amazing and Shirley would be like “oh your left foot wasn’t right during your 15th swivel” or similar 🤣
I also think the judges are very driven by the crowds reaction, if the crowd go mad for a dance the judges score higher generally and I don’t think Gorka has as many wow moments because he doesn’t focus on that more then content of the dance. I think he’s had some of the best technical dances on the show, Alexandra’s jive and Argentine tango, Maisie’s samba, quickstep and show dance were all amazing but that’s because there were jam packed full of the actual dance content you would expect from those dances and again no mad lifts or gimmicks.

I don't necessarily think Helen has been undermarked as most of her scores have been fair, it's more that some others have been overmarked in comparison (Tyler and his random 10s for example). If I were to put my Strictly conspiracy hat on for a moment, I might argue they're trying to create a bit of a journey for Helen as she's pulling in the votes and want a bit of a storyline for her

I think Gorka can definitely do a showstopping routine with the right music (Alexandra's jive, Maisie's samba, his quicksteps etc), but perhaps focuses more on content for the quieter routines as that is what will impress the judges?

Quoting myself like a div to say I meant to say undermarked rather than overmarked

So two weeks after pushing the 'Molly and Nikita are definitely a thing' story, the press has abandoned that. I guess as Molly and Tyler are single and in the same age range it makes sense. (Sidenote, I know I've commented on Molly's fashion before, but that catsuit, my eyes! she is gorgeous, why is she dressing like a 40-year-old divorcée?)

The media really are reaching aren’t they? Two people are standing next to each other on their phones and having a chat therefore there must be something going on 😂.

Performance dahling

Can’t say I see Molly and Tyler as a couple (will happily eat my words later if they do get together) but other than being conventionally attractive and within an acceptable age range I don’t see it. She seems quite a young 21(nearly 22) and he feels older than 26.

I think the press are just reaching by placing two singletons together to try for drama because there’s been zero whispers about romances.
