Couldn't have said better myself.

I think he is a good person but I do think he likes to be centre of attention; it's gone a bit unnoticed as he didn't have a partner his first year, and then when he was partnered with Catherine people saw his flamboyancy as him 'living his best life'. I felt sorry for him being partnered with Caroline as she was overzealous but I think the attention he has now gotten with John and the fact he is now going more mainstream has made his head grow a few inches more.

Who will he be getting this year on the show? It will be hard for him to out do what he has already done with John with a female partner; he has sort of been blessed and cursed at the same time.

He sees like a fun person, but I'm not sure he's a very good teacher. John clearly had a natural ability but he didn't bring out the best in Cath or Caroline at all

Also, some of his choreography is not good - John's American smooth was cringe-inducing

Probably comes down to height - he & Kai are the two tallest men and of them, I think Kai is guaranteed to get the better draw as he's probably one of their up and coming star pros. I think Johannes will probably get the type of partner that often went to Brendan or Pasha before he joined, the low middler type that goes out around or slightly before Halloween. Perhaps this year's Katie or Viscountess equivalent? Or he could luck out and get this year's Sara, someone enthusiastic but with no chance of winning might suit him.
 
Glad to know I’m not the only one who’s been finding Johannes a bit irritating. Fully prepared for angry faces but I find him a bit fake sometimes…. (Perhaps fake is possibly not the right phrase maybe it’s more him over exaggerating certain parts of his personality. )

I know most of the pros play certain characters on the show but for most of them their show/performance personalities are the same as their everyday personalities but I’m not sure if I could pin point the “real” Johannes. He just seems really different these days compared to earlier in his strictly life. That hat situation on Graham Norton the other day was ridiculous. It’s the sort of thing I’d imagine someone wearing for a bet.
 
I like Johannes but I did think he made this series more about himself than John. You could tell that it meant so much to him to be dancing in a same-sex partnership and being accepted for who he is but it was John's journey that should have been the focus not Johannes'. Similarly, he tends to outdance his partners which is something that always irritates me. We know the professionals are better than the celebrities but the best pros are the ones who tone down their performance to let their partner shine. I often found my eyes drawn to Johannes rather than John when they were dancing side by side.

I think he seems like a genuinely lovely guy and he's well-liked by the other pros and celebrities but I worry his ego may prevent him from stepping back and letting his future celeb partners shine, especially he's now had such a successful run and found himself appearing on Graham Norton etc.

My husband doesn’t really watch Strictly but is in the room when it’s on and my mum watches it. They both commented that Johannes was a lot more over the top this year. I think it is just him being himself, maybe he had toned his personality down before then and this time was more comfortable, but it was very dramatic. Always crying, I’ve never seen a pro cry as much. It draws focus from the celebrity.
He has also had at least three massive pro numbers built around him including the ballroom one this year and the Priscilla one. All of the others could have been interchangeable with any of the pros as lead characters. So he has had a lot of positive exposure.
 
I don't see any evidence of this bigheadedness? he has done very little publicity during and after Strictly. Very few insta stories during the tour for example, unlike others like Aljaz, Katya, Amy, Nadiya, all of whom reposted endless fan ig stories..(not to mention Nadiya's pap walks, and Gio's endless weeping in the final).
Has kept his head down and everyone seems to love him, including John. I can't see how he loves attention any more than most of the other pros who are mostly attention-grabbing people, by virtue of being performers.

I agree. I actually think he's one of the most humble and introverted among the pros, he just happens to be very camp is quite marmite.

Andrew Garfield needs to win the Oscar just so he has to do Strictly with Johannes. I need that in the world now.

I'm just low-key, not so low-key, obsessed with Andrew Garfield. He just seems amazing.

I’ve been obsessed with Andrew Garfield since The Social Network came out in 2010 so I’d die if he did Strictly - and he’d be so much fun - but it’ll never happen unfortunately.

Who would people like to see on the 2022 series? I’m surprised no one from Harry Potter has ever signed up. Evanna Lynch did DWTS but I’d love to see one of the cast on Strictly.
 
Matthew Lewis might be a good shout. His most recent is All Creatures…. On channel five so no conflict as they’re not really a direct competitor of bbc. I’m not sure what the phelps twins are up to these days but maybe one of them would be up for it 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️
I think the issue with HP cast are some are just too famous and Quite a few of the more minor actors seem to have moved on from acting and the main public eye so probably wouldn’t be interested.

The Phelps twin feel like the right sort of level for Strictly. We’re never going to see the main trio doing it and you’re right that others have moved on from acting but there’s also the actors who haven’t done a lot since HP but are still very recognisable names. Someone like Bonnie Wright (Ginny) could be good. She’s very focused on climate change these days but she’s releasing a book and has a YouTube channel so she’s still in the public eye.
 
Lots of the celebs end up being sort of C-list presenters and TV people (AJ, Rhys, Sara, Tilly, Judi, Nina, Katie, Rose, John this year). So it feels like it could be almost anyone I've sort of vaguely heard of.. Bound to be a BBC Breakfast type or GMB so maybe Sally Nugent or Laura Tobin. Owain the drumming weatherman seems like he'd be up for it. A random EastEnders/Corrie starlet. A kids TV presenter. And 2-3 bigger names - wonder if Tom Daley could be persuaded? is he going to retire soon? and maybe one of the Christmas Special cast like Jay or Fred.
 
I'm sure they'll be someone who is related or married to a much more famous celeb, along the lines of Tilly and Greg this year. They do love shoehorning them into the VTs having all those close ups of them crying in the audience. Just please god not one of the Beckham offspring
 
I suppose that’s the beauty of Strictly (and life), some pros aren’t my cup of tea but are yours and also vice-versa.

For celebs this year:
A Harry Potter name would be cool but DWTS got there first with Evanna and there isn’t a huge pool of celebs to choose from. Nonetheless, would be cool if they had an actor/actress from something other than soaps (and one who can go far unlike Greg).

Fred would be cool if they are going for Christmas special celebs, I think he’d be a dark horse and it’s fun when you get a slightly older celeb doing well.

I’d like Ellie Simmonds to give it a try now she has retired, a different type of disability. Perfect partner for Gorka and hopefully a new challenge would reinvigorate his enthusiasm for Strictly which was sadly missing last year.

For the boyband slot, Brad Simpson from the Vamps would be great. Why has DOI cast a Vamp and never Strictly? More interesting than yet another McFly, Blue or Wanted.

Not got any names in particular but hopefully a female singer can be in the mix for this year (not been one for a couple of years). Also would like a couple more older contestants, especially someone in their 60s or 70s taking part.

Micah Richards would be great but probably not this year because of the World Cup clashing with the show.

I mentioned him a few weeks ago but Brendan Sheerin from Coach Trip would be great fun and possibly a good dancer given his Irish dancing background.

A couple of real ringers (there wasn’t really an Ashley or Danny Mac in 2021) as well please.

I'd love see Brad do Strictly. He's really adorable and sweet, would be good to see whether he can learn to dance or not.
