Well a poster did say last week they were tipped for great things at the BBC until COVID hit 🤷🏻‍♀️. Now I think they’re just taking what they can to stay, ehm, relevant. And if the Beeb really did love them, now things are being recorded etc then they’re maybe on the cusp of a huge breakthrough

I'm guessing *if* there was a chance of them getting TV opportunities a couple of years ago, then that horse has bolted now (Trish, AJ being fairly forgettable on IAC, no demand for their tour...)

Looking at pros who left, have any of them really been proper celebs in their own right? Not counting the odd appearance on reality shows. Anton and Oti are the only ones who I would say have cut through, and both clearly know the value of sticking with Strictly for as long as possible (I suspect Oti won't cut ties completely when she leaves)

That’s what I said to that poster - I was surprised to hear they were ever in demand but they’ve done themselves no favours over lockdown!

I think those pesky Clifton siblings have done ok in terms of musical theatre but I wouldn’t put them as celebrities. I think you’ve hit the nail on the end, if you play the long game on Strictly it can really pay off. Otherwise you might get the odd choreography corner on ITT and a Pointless special

Fair play to Joanne, she seems to have carved out a decent musical theatre career and put the work in. And crucially, doesn't really seem interested in being *famous*.

Will be interesting to see how Kevin's career pans out - he's had decent reviews and I'm sure he'll get work, but might he be getting a bit old for leading men roles soon? Not to be ageist (I'm a bit older than him ha) but I wonder whether he missed that window of opportunity a bit (the pandemic didn't help of course) Also interesting that he doesn't seem to be bothered about TV work now (panel show appearances etc). Weird that I've kind of forgotten about him a bit?

(he's still annoying though)

I think he’s more forgettable than I thought he would be! But I agree, in terms of roles he is a bit older and I’m not sure if he’d be big enough a name to be stunt cast?

What surprised me was him on ITT last year - he looked like he’d just chucked on his comfy clothes and I got the vibe he couldn’t be bothered. His eternal smugness prevents me from following him on SM but I haven’t heard about any dance classes etc he does.

He didn't even pop into my head when I was trying to think of ex-pros 😆. As much as a loathed him as a pro, he was a good dancer and had lots of screen presence, so kind of odd he doesn't make much impact as just himself

Janette is trying hard to be a celeb
 
I only ever see stuff about Kevin to do with his relationship with Stacey (but I am not a musical theatre person). Of the current pros, I guess Gio, Aljaz, Gorka, and Johannes have the biggest profiles (apart from Oti). I can't see any of them moving into presenting, bar the odd guest thing (like Johannes on Drag Race). Gorka seems to be moving into fitness and maybe Aljaz and Janette are positioning themselves as a celeb couple..

A couple of months ago, Gemma did a Q&A on her insta and someone asked her if she and Gorka were going to join a crossfit team or something like that, and she said no, because Gorka doesn't want to risk injury because dancing is his career.
 
Had a quick peek into the DS AJ/Kai thread........(had to take deep breath beforehand)

It seems as if the tide has turned and now some of them think that AJ & Kai have actually had a fallout!! 🤣 All because they don't post about each other anymore on social media and because Kai wasn't at AJ's birthday celebrations.

I don't get how they don't seem to understand that they were entirely bought hook line and sinker by a showmance! Some of the posters on that forum have been on that forum for years and have seen the likes of it before like Mollie & AJ so I can't see why they're still shocked by the fact they didn't become a couple!

Who knows maybe they did have sort of fallout or they have the seen they crazy shippers online and want to take a break from interacting with each other in person and online!

No idea what went on but I do think it’s a bit odd that they were face-timing each other at midnight on NYE which suggests at least good pals and hen he hooks up with Nadiya and suddenly they’re not seen together even when she goes to the show. Either it was all a showmance (but then no need for the FT at NYE) or she maybe thought something was happening..

But yeah, extrapolating a relationship from the back-rubbing was nuts
