Surely we’ll see the top gear theme ? It makes more sense than some as it’s already a proper piece of music. Not sure who and what dance but I’m sure something would work.

As for Jayde
I really can’t see her lasting that much longer. Something is going to trip her up and really show her lack of any decent technique probably the jive or one of the super technical slower ballroom.

She’s used up her allocation of woe is me sob stories with doing it for the big girls and the dead sister. Audiences aren’t going to like her (or anyone really) manipulating them for a vote in a few weeks time when the skills really matter.

Those who have watched from the early years of Strictly, a scoring of a 10 was was not very frequent? Now I feel we get them very early on in the comp. For the record I feel Fleur richly deserved it though!

To give an example of the different scoring tendencies nowadays: in series 2, Jill scored 8,9,9,9 for her jive the first time (wk 3), and there was only one 10 given out prior to the final (for her cha cha). In the final, there were six 10s given across all of the couples, but four of those were for Jill’s jive.

That tells you how different the scoring was in the early days (though this was pre-social media and Strictly wasn’t as ‘gamified’ or formulaic back then. It was a much ‘simpler’ show, and expectations were lower. The couples basically walked out onto a bare stage in standard ballroom/Latin attire, did their dance, were scored, said a few words in a cupboard with Tess, and on to the next couple.)

Jade is straight and has a long term partner ? Husband? She just wanted to dance with a female because she wanted to lead and do the lifts.
It made me sad last night when she said she wanted a female partner because she wanted to do the lifts rather than not be lifted. 😪
I know she comes across as really confident and not giving a damn what people think of her, but I think it's just a front. Deep down she's self conscious and acutely aware of what others think.

Exactly this. For the most part, it’s prancing around in sequins and fake tan on the telly.
The last time anything was genuinely nationally meaningful and moving was Bill Bailey’s comments in the final about how ‘the show must go on’ at exactly the point that the Christmas restrictions had been announced, and it was clear that the cast and crew were all highly emotional.
I still remember Claudia and Tess’s voices breaking when they thanked everybody for giving up their family lives just put the show together as a bit of shiny distraction from the shitness of it all.
2020 felt like a special series. It gets overshadowed by all the successful inclusion last year but there was something much more real and moving about that year for me. People put their lives on hold to bring a bit of joy to everyone.
