I just watched the whole segment on iPlayer after reading that. The Sun has been pushing the romance narrative and mentioned it.
During rehearsal she clearly states she's having difficulty acting romantic with him the vibe was all a bit awk. The mic'd "I love you" (x2) at the end of the dance had a more of a bromance than romance tone (and wasn't reciprocated but I'm low level Aspergers so I might be reading it completely wrong?)
She's flawless and seems way above his pay grade... They look gorgeous together and make a great dance team; who knows what might happen? ❤ I was hoping the Tilly rumors were true BC her participation finally got my 13 y/o son interested in the show this year.
 
It's funny, I would never have assumed Joe & Dianne or Stacey & Kevin were going to get (and so far, stay together) whereas with AJ & Kai I do get the vibe. Maybe it's because AJ & Kai have such good dance chemistry?

I don't read into the "I love you" thing at all though, Aljaz also said it to Sara after their dance and nobody's about to spew that narrative!

Haha we do love Aljaz telling everyone he loves them, including when he goes on it takes two with his wifey I’m loving that too, think I’m just shipping everyone !

I mean I don't believe the AJ/Kai romance just as an average strictly fan just how I haven't believed some of them that have been forced on us in the past like Mollie and AJ Pritchard. But if you believe in it then have fun with it and we'll come back to it in a years time. :sneaky:

Nope, I follow a few people who interact with them often and one of them is in her mid 30’s.

Again, it’s not that deep 😂 if they did end up having a thing it would probably just be due to the dancing connection, no one’s claiming they are going to be together forever and get married. It’s just a bit of fun trying to predict these things tbh.

I don’t care enough to mute them, they appear on my timeline occasionally but not enough that I would mute or block them. If anything it gives me a good laugh when I see some of the things they tweet 😂

Oh yeah, that's irrelevant, because they're all effusive towards their partners! What made me raise half an eyebrow this morning was that she was directly asked about it on the radio, and instead of saying 'no we aren't' she talked about acting the characters. Which. Is kind of a denial, but also kind of not? Zoe Ball was trying to manifest it into existence at any rate. All aboard the Showmance Express, I guess.

They do have good dance chemistry, but dance chemistry is not necessarily romantic chemistry. People tend to jump straight to romance, but the bonds formed over the course of a show like this may also be authentic without being romantic in nature!

fair enough to each their own; when people I follow start tweeting about football (which I cant stand) I just mute the topic or mute them.
 
yeah, in the whole 17 years I've watched this show, I've never actually believed in a showmance, at least until the show's over and it comes out that they were shagging all along - eg pasha + numbers witch (c monkseal) or were caught in the act - eg katya + seannnnnnn

it just seems believable because the contestants spend sooo much time in such close proximity and have to act emotionally appropriately for the dance. actors and dancers are quite often very tactile types and when you're relaxed in your partner's company, that's gonna show

I am entirely thinking too much about this...
 
I do think it must be quite destabilizing if you're a celeb, and you are suddenly catapulted into this different world, where you entrust yourself to this incredibly fit, good-looking dance professional who has to nurture you and try to form a close bond very quickly. I think dancers (and actors) are used to being effusive and tactile (calling everyone 'darling' and saying 'I love you' all the time, and being very free and open with their bodies) but I imagine that for some celebs it feels quite confusing.
I see Seann is still going round saying that the fallout from the kiss with Katya traumatised him etc - I never liked him and had not much sympathy as he had a partner, but I guess I can empathise with the disorientation one might feel..

Remember when the show was trying to convince us that Mollie and AJ were a thing lol

Lots of the couples over the years get on and talk up their friendship/have cute interactions, but I guess friendships are taken more at face value even though everyone is "performing" in a sense still

Sophie Ellis-Bextor has spoken about this, and about how her husband had a hard time with that aspect of the show even though she was in no way looking to run off an have a fling with Brendan. He found how much the show consumed her difficult

I agree that something seems off with Robert. He seems sort of, I don’t know, awkward and subdued. Even in his interactions with Claudia, and I assume they know each other at least a bit since his best mate’s wife is her best mate. I’m fact it’s almost as if he’s channeling David Mitchell’s comedy persona a bit! I don’t think he’s necessarily not getting on with Dianne - a man in his late 40s is never going to be as tactile or whatever with a woman in her early 30s as say AJ and Kai are. See Bill and Oti or even Gorka and Maisie.
 
One thing I’ve never understood is the cling onto each other outside of show night.. I’d genuinely have no issue with my husband dancing away with these beautiful women (although the thought is hilarious) & no problem with celebratory hugs, high fives, a shoulder squeeze ..

But there are always some couples that are constantly touching in instastories, ITT etc.. John & Johannes are a classic example this year. It’s like they always need to touch each other. On ITT tonight, glued together. Far more than Amy & Tom before them. John had no real need to have his arm on the back of the sofa but useful for more touching..

You see if every single year. No wonder the celebs partners feel unsettled. Dancing is one thing but act like normal friends inbetween!

His interviews with Claudia do seem so awkward and subdued. And he can't seem to just talk naturally - always a little self deprecating joke that isn't funny instead of a heartfelt response.
He seems quite shy and defensive. Hopefully if he relaxed more he would enjoy it, as I think he does have potential.
