For me, Robert is giving off the sort of vibes I'd expect - that the whole thing is a bit twee and silly, and slightly beneath him, but he's signed up now so he might as well get on with it. Maybe he might enjoy it a bit if it gets to do a couples choice?

Last year, I was worried that Bill would be like this and was pleasantly surprised when he embraced the whole experience

I don't think this is true; he said in an interview that he always watched strictly and was approached for it before but because of schedules and then his health problem he couldn't do it. He now has the ok from his doctor to do it so he said yes this year. I think he gives off the same vibe as Bill to me; happy to be there but not jumping up and down and teary eyed like some of the celebs which come across to me as desperate and vote hungry.

I agree. They definitely cast Bill as the comedy dad dancer, but he wasn't having it and trained hard and showed them all.
Yes, I remember Bill being adamant that if he did the show he was going to learn the dances properly and wasn’t going to be the joke act.

Does anyone ever genuinely like the ‘joke’ routines? Russell Grant being shot out of a cannon, Scott Mills dressed as a crab - I find them painful to watch, and I feel embarrassed for the celebs and pros who I’m sure rarely actually want to do the cringey stuff.
Remember when they dressed Artem up for ‘Rasputin’? He looked like a bit of his soul had withered up.

I hate the comedy acts. I want them to learn basic dances not fly out of cannons but I don’t think I’m the demographic they check with

I’m catching up on it takes two and Hayley Mills is amazing! Love her. I also like watching the Friday panel and seeing how good or bad their predictions are after the fact

I hate the comedy acts too. I think that's why I hated Anton for years, as he was often the poor sod who had to drag a crappola around. But I really am loving him as a judge, he's putting the rest of the panel to shame.

I thought J&J were a lot less touchy feely on ITT this week. Last week made me feel so sad for John's boyfriend...maybe words have been had!

Some comedy acts are ridiculous and they shouldn't force it on anyone (Mike Bushell was the worst example of this) but I do think the pros should try and do entertaining routines with dud contestants (and to be fair, most of this lot do). I remember some of the early days when they'd just make the old contestants do basic step after basic step in a routine and it all just looked dull and uncomfortable to watch.

Robert seems a little withdrawn to me in a way that Bill was not. I don't think he's enjoying the experience/training as much as he anticipated but is trying to remain cheery. It's now coming across a little sad and strained.

I must be in the minority as I disliked Darcy immensely! Her judging was appalling to start with, she could hardly get her words out. It was like stage fright yet she was commanding a $$$$ salary. Her critiques were garbled and nonsensical. Everyone seemed to treat her with kid gloves for her whole time on the show.
I would've preferred someone with ballroom and latin experience - for me her ballet background didn't translate well. The ballet-inspired critiques were awkward and I don't think they were very relevant much of the time (confusing to the celeb, pro and audience!).
I don't think she got on very well with Shirley at all (probably Shirley equally to blame but Darcey had definitely become bitchier by the end).

For fairness I've never really seen the relevance of Bruno as a judge nor Craig to an extent. Craig is infinitely more watchable and gives reasonable critique. I've always wanted to hear from people with a ballroom/Latin background.

This in spades. Dianne seems to have even stopped trying to pretend that they are having a good time. Barely a mention of him . Or maybe they are just so hacked off with Saturday’s costumes and make up. Or lack of costumes and makeup
