(Did the Beeb think he was the famous male celeb this year and it was part of his contract? Funnily enough (could be age) I thought Greg wise was the male A lister).

I think they had to give him something to shut him up. He looks like a petulant man child and he had a face like a skelped arse all the way through.

I can picture him saying “this group dance would be nothing without me, nothing. Nobody would look as good on the watermelon lilo as me!”

I agree that they've become a lot more guarded in the last couple of years. And I think you're right that it began to change during the 2018 series. The show gained a whole new host of young fans who are very active on social media which hasn't necessarily been a good thing. The heavy (creepy) analysis of whether Joe and Dianne were dating followed by the accusation that Giovanni assaulted Dianne were red flags back then and unfortunately those fans don't seem to have gotten any better over the years. Add in the tabloids using social media to find stories because they know Strictly scandal sells and I know I'd be wary of what I post if I worked on the show.

I can see AJ and Kai taking a big step back from social media - whether they're together or not - because there seems to be a lot of the same obsessive fans following their every move at the moment. It would terrify me if I was in their shoes.
 
could I love Dan any more? What a gent he is!

I generally like seeing the pros with different celebs but I get what you mean. My first series was 2009 and I loved Chris Hollins & Ola. It initially felt like such a comedown when she got Paul Daniels the following year and then he wasn't even around long enough to warm to.

Nope. Once a series is done, it’s done. I’m ruthless: zero sentimentality or emotional investment in pro/celeb pairings. I forget half of them the second they’re out: I’d actually forgotten all about Ugo and Katie until last night. 🤣

It generally does take me a few weeks to get into a series, though, because there are so many in the early weeks, and as the casts get less stellar (and I get older) I know fewer of the contestants, so it takes a few weeks for me to cotton on to who they all are.

I almost never watch the show until at least week 3 or 4, I mostly keep up on youtube. This year I watched from the beginning because I wanted to see how Kai got on, having really enjoyed his partnerships on DWTS, their Jive blew me away and sucked me in early.
