Tbh I think even if Rhys pulls it out the bag he will still be in the DO, but he might end up staying.

I actually thought his samba looked quite good in the rehearsal footage shown today. Quite controlled but with the right bounce and drive. I was expecting a frenzied mess but I didn't see it.

I think Angelica Bell was right on the panel - Rhys will probably be in the bottom two but he may well end up beating his opponent in the dance off.

I think he will be decent but I really can’t see him getting 80/80, I don’t think anyone will. Being top of the leaderboard doesn’t mean you are safe especially when you have less public support, it happened to Alexandra Burke 🤷🏻‍♀️
 
Yeah, if Rhys tops the leaderboard he will need to avoid being bottom of the PV. Rose and AJ definitely have the fans: Rose is highly likely to either be joint top or second so will be safe; AJ is quite possibly second in PV. So there could be a scenario where

Rose = 4 + 4 = 8
Rhys = 4 + 1 = 5
AJ = 3 + 3 = 6
John = 2 + 2 = 4

(though what happens if there are ties? i.e. AJ is 3 + 2 and John is 2 + 3??) I am clearly no Numbers witch!!
 
I have sat with pen and paper running the numbers, gave up with a headache it's much easier to do post show when you know the board placement.
My main conclusion is ties on the board is going to make the DO impossible to call, the judges will be paying extra close attention in the dress rehearsal getting all their ducks in a row, they all need to be really really good dress rehearsal. Even topping the board won't save them from DO if they aren't in the top two spots on the voting leader board.
All I want for Christmas is for AJ and John to be in the final. 😢
 
No disrespect because I’ve had Rose/AJ/John pegged as my final three for most of the competition too, but why does everyone actually think they deserve it so much more than Rhys?

I’m biased as I want Rose to win, but John and AJ have been disappointing for weeks imo. John peaked with the paso, AJ and Kai haven’t lived up to any of their expected ‘hot’ dances recently (CC, paso etc). Meanwhile Rhys has been a hell of a lot better than expected and has actually showed massive improvement. I really don’t think it’s true that the other three are markedly better than him or am I just crazy 🤣

It will come down to the phone vote if two people tie. There are no ties in the phone vote.

Oh right, thanks! so whoever finishes higher in the phone vote escapes the DO? That would favour AJ, I think..

I don't think most people think they deserve it more. Just that it is clear that Rhys doesn't have the votes. Saying that, he is perfectly capable of knocking AJ or John out tomorrow. Their fans would be devvoed but that is the game.. I still find him a tad frantic.

Rhys is just too much for me, he’s been frantic in a lot of dances and I think in some he’s been overmarked. I also massively struggle with him not taking criticism well and the tears.

But in saying that, he’s not by any stretch poles apart from the others dance-wise. Where we had Jamie Laing last year who was of a way lower dance calibre than the others, I don’t think that of Rhys at all.

I think Rhys has had a really strong couple of weeks, but that across the board all are pretty evenly matched. Which is going to make how they perform on the Saturday night extremely important!
 
I think we are going to see a lot of fan-bases tested. We know Rhys hadn't had a particularly strong one but I think lots are turning their head now he's had some good dances and he now appears to be the "journey" guy, so he might get Dan the man's fans.

The one that worries me is Rose, only because I have never bothered voting for her assuming she's safe and I probably won't vote for her on Saturday for the same reason, but if everybody thinks like that she could be in danger. Probably not though.

You think AJ's couple's choice wasn't hot??? Have you been to specsavers recently?? they have been up and down a bit, as she is way better at ballroom than Latin, hence the disaster at the weekend (although she knocked it out of the park in the dance off to be fair, and it was worth it for Kai's magnificent floor slap!). The Rumba is very hotly anticipated, and if the couple of seconds we saw this evening of it is anything to go by, it will be amazing. No silly lifts in either dance and they are keeping everything classic for the Quickstep.

I didn't care for AJ's couples choice, personally. It wasn't clean or slick enough and a bit messy in places. I certainly didn't think it was hot - in general I don't feel she delivers sexy very well due to lack of hip rotation, and I don't fancy Kai so he doesn't do it for me either. I've loved some of their routines - the Bodyguard one and their foxtrot, for example. But I have felt that the last few weeks have been a bit meh and exposed her weaknesses.

I'm sure a rumba and a quickstep will suit her just fine - probably more the Quickstep given her lack of good hips for a rumba.

I agree, j and jj have been below par and disappointing for weeks now, aj has been off her game, Rhys has been improving
